A Japanese company has just launched a new product in its home market that is quite unique. While it is fairly common USB Hub, it is designed around the iconic anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Talking about the dimensions of the product, the Neon Genesis Evangelion themed USB Hub has a size of 8×9×16.5cm. At the moment, the company has only released certain renders of the product, but these images offer us a close look at the mecha’s design. The device comes in a neat looking box and the contents include the charging station itself, a power cord and some documentation.

DESIGN

The Tronsmart charger is made of high-quality plastic and the build quality is excellent despite not using any premium materials like metal.

On one side there is a power input port and the power on/off switch, which works great and it doesn’t seem to break anytime soon.

The star of the show here are 5 USB ports and all of them have a combined power output of 90W or 18W per port. A key feature is that each port supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology and a smart charging tech, which detects the device you plugged in and charges it at the maximum speed possible.

There is not much going on the bottom side. A great thing is that there are rubber pads that help with the grip and prevent the charging station from sliding on the table.

Overall, I’m very happy with the design and build quality of the Tronsmart Titan charging station. Also, it is very compact and lightweight given the feature set it has.

FUNCTIONALITY

You can charge 5 devices at the same time and it worked fine during my testing period.

Once you power on the device, a green LED light up.

We have tested the charging station with various devices that included the ones which support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 feature (e.g. Letv Le 1 Pro) and the ones that don’t . Our test results have shown that the Tronsmart charging station is indeed capable of providing very fast charging speeds. In fact, the device even outperformed the original chargers that are shipped with smartphones (e.g. Lenovo ZUK Z1).

CONCLUSIONS

The Tronsmart Titan 10A/90W 5-Port USB Charger Charging Station does what it is being advertised for. It has 5 ports that are capable of charging your gadgets quickly. 

A great thing that this charging station supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 but if your smartphone or other device does not have Snapdragon chip, the Tronsmart charger is still able of recognising the type of the device you connected to it and provides the fastest charging speeds possible.

All in all, Tronsmart Titan 10A/90W 5-Port USB Charger Charging Station may not be the only product of its kind but does all the thing right and it can be recommended to buy if you are in the market of charging stations.

DESIGN

The charging hub is made of quality plastic and it is really compact considering the fact that it has 6 ports. 

4 of them include smart-charging ports, which detect your device and charge it at the maximum possible speed. Also, we have the port, which supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging tech and last but not least we have the USB type C port for devices like 12” MacBook.

My only complaint about the design is that the hub does not have any silicone pads, so it may slide on the table quite easily. 

FEATURES and FUNCTIONALITY

I’ve tested each and every port of this charging station and it works fine. The charging speeds are great too. 4 regular ports have a power output of up to 2.4A and the port with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 fully charged my Galaxy S7 edge in 1 hour and 20 mins. 

CONCLUSIONS

All in all, the Anglink 6-port charger has a great design, it is well built and it charges the devices fast. Also, it is reasonably priced at just below $20 on Amazon. Finally, it is a great choice if you are looking for a multi-port charging station.

The device is very well made and it sports all-aluminium design, which kind of reminds Apple’s design language. Also, it has a little LED, which lights up when the device is connected to the computer or to the supplied power cord. It is a very high quality product and the overall built quality screams premium.

However, there are some shortcomings. For some reason, there is no soft pad on the bottom of the device, so you may scratch the surface of the table. Also, because of that, the USB hub will be sliding on most of the surfaces easily.

In addition, the HUB is designed in that way that it simply needs to be used with a velcro sticker. Otherwise, it will fall down to either side depending where you connect the USB device. While it’s not a deal breaker but it may be an issue for some.

At the end of the day, the 1byone 7 port USB hub is a great way to increase the amount of the USB ports on your computer, especially if you use a notebook with 1 or 2 USB ports like I do.

It has a great Apple inspired design, build quality and premium choice of materials. Also, all the ports are working fine and the ability to connect it to the external power source is a great addition.

However, you need to consider a few shortcomings mentioned previously and decide if they are important to you.

Finally, the price. This gadget costs $30 on Amazon and at first I thought it was a bit overpriced. Yes, you can find some cheaper alternatives but if you want a premium all-metal design, this is a price you have to pay for most of the manufacturers.
