Xiaomi’s Android 17 Developer Preview program has just gone live, and it brings an unexpected upgrade to HyperOS 3.3. The company has restricted the beta program’s access to a limited number of high-end smartphones initially, with broader device support coming in the near future.

The Developer Preview program is currently available for four Xiaomi devices: Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi 15T Pro, and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. If you’re rocking any of these devices, you can sign up for the testing program and get access to the upcoming features and upgrade well ahead of the public release. This release, however, signals a major shift in Xiaomi’s naming strategy for its HyperOS skin.

As spotted by Ximi Time, the Android 17 beta build for Xiaomi devices comes with HyperOS 3.3, skipping HyperOS 3.2 for some reason. This suggests Xiaomi won’t make the jump to HyperOS 4 but will pair HyperOS 3.3 with Android 17.

How to get Android 17 beta on your Xiaomi device

Remember that beta builds are prone to having bugs or unfinished features. Some apps may face compatibility issues. Therefore, it’s best to avoid such builds altogether or install them on a secondary device.

Before installing a beta build, it’s highly recommended to back up important data to cloud storage or copy it to a different device to be on the safe side.

This is a major upgrade, and so the installation time could be longer. It’s best to charge your device at least 40% before the installation. Also, ensure the device has at least 10GB of free space for a smoother installation and better performance.

If you face major issues or want to revert to a previous stable build for any reason, you can download the required firmware using the links given below and flash it on your phone the same way. However, this could result in data loss. So, back up your important data beforehand.

Xiaomi has officially introduced the Xiaomi 15T Pro at its global launch event in Munich, making it the main device in the new T-series lineup. Display and design

The phone has a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution (2772 x 1280), peak brightness of 3,200 nits, and a 144Hz refresh rate. Bezels are reduced to 1.5mm using LIPO technology for a more immersive look. The screen is TÜV Rheinland certified for low blue light, flicker-free use, and circadian-friendly brightness.

The device measures 162.7 x 77.9 x 7.96 mm, weighs 210g, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. It is IP68-rated, allowing water resistance up to 3 meters. The frame is made from 6M13 aluminum alloy for added durability.

Camera system with Leica optics

The Xiaomi 15T Pro brings a Leica 5x Pro telephoto camera to the T-series for the first time. Its triple-camera setup covers focal lengths from 15mm to 230mm, letting users capture wide landscapes and detailed zoom shots with one device. Photography features are powered by Xiaomi AISP 2.0 with PortraitLM 2.0 and ColorLM 2.0, improving depth, color, and contrast. Master Portrait Mode adds adjustable bokeh styles like Width and Bubbles. Leica Street Photography Mode allows instant capture from the lock screen with preset focal lengths from 28mm to 135mm.

For video, the device supports HDR10+ recording at 4K 30fps on all focal lengths, 4K 120fps slow motion, 4K 60fps 10-bit Log with LUT import for editing, and 8K 30fps recording.

Hardware and battery

The 15T Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset built on the 3nm process. It has a CPU with speeds up to 3.73GHz, Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU, and NPU 890. Storage options pair 12GB RAM with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB UFS 4.1 storage.

The 5,500mAh battery supports 90W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge. The device can power on within four seconds after connecting to a charger. Xiaomi’s 3D IceLoop cooling system improves heat management with a vapor-liquid separation design.

Connectivity and software

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with dual connections, NFC, and dual SIM with eSIM support. Xiaomi Astral Communication adds Xiaomi Offline Communication, which allows voice calls between two 15T Pro devices within 1.9 km without Wi-Fi or cellular service.

The device runs HyperOS 3 with a redesigned interface, faster multitasking, and improved AI features through HyperAI. It also enhances connections with other Xiaomi products.

Xiaomi’s upcoming 15T series is no longer much of a mystery. A leak by Roland Quandt (via WinFuture) has revealed the renders and full specs of the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro. The details reveal two devices that share a lot on the surface but differ in some very key areas.

The design difference between the two phones is more than skin-deep. The regular Xiaomi 15T reportedly uses a plastic frame, while the Pro steps things up with metal for a more premium feel. 

Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro Specs

Both phones are built around a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with Corning’s new Gorilla Glass 7i on top. The Pro model can push its refresh rate all the way up to 144Hz, while the 15T tops out at 120Hz. The screen has a resolution of 2772 × 1280 pixels, with up to 3,200 nits peak brightness, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and full DCI-P3 coverage. 

Under the hood, Xiaomi is splitting the lineup between two MediaTek chips. The standard 15T runs on the Dimensity 8400 Ultra, while the Pro gets Dimensity 9400+. Both come with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

The biggest distinction comes from the cameras. The Xiaomi 15T Pro packs a 50MP Light Fusion 900 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP 5x telephoto using Samsung’s JN5 sensor, and a 12MP ultra-wide. 

The regular 15T scales this down to a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor, a 2x zoom camera without OIS, and the same 12MP ultra-wide. Both phones share a 32MP front-facing camera with a wide 120-degree field of view. They will also carry Leica’s branding and image tuning.

As for the battery, both reportedly feature a 5,500mAh cell. However, the 15T charges at 67W, while the Pro model is said to support 90W. Neither includes a charger in the box. Both are IP68-certified, support eSIM, and weigh 194 grams for the 15T and 210 grams for the Pro.

Last but not least, the leak quotes the Xiaomi 15T price at €649 and €799 for the 15T Pro.

Xiaomi’s next flagship phone may be closer to launch. The alleged global version of the Xiaomi 15T Pro has now surfaced on Geekbench, following multiple appearances on certification platforms.

The smartphone made its benchmark run under the model number 2506BPN68G. The listing confirms that the device is running on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+ processor, clocked at 3.73GHz and paired with ARM’s Mali-G925 Immortalis MC12 GPU.

In terms of raw numbers, the device scored 1611 points in single precision, 1572 points in half precision, and 2223 points in quantized tests. The Geekbench entry also reveals that the phone is running Android 15 and comes with 12GB of RAM.

It’s coming soon!

This isn’t the first time the 15T Pro has surfaced in the rumor mill. The phone was previously spotted on Singapore’s IMDA certification site, Europe’s EEC database, and even in Xiaomi’s own HyperOS code.

A recent TikTok leak has also given us a first look at the design. The phone features a bold, squircle-shaped Leica camera module on the back, finished in a metallic bronze-like tone with a flat frame and a matte rear panel.

According to earlier reports, the Xiaomi 15T Pro will ship with a flat OLED display supporting a high refresh rate, a triple camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, a 5,500mAh battery, and 90W fast charging. There are also whispers of a metal build with an IP69 rating.
