<p>Earlier this year, Xiaomi briefly overtook <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> in the total global shipment volume, making it the 2nd largest global smartphone manufacturer for a while. Now, the CEO of Xiaomi announced that the company intends to take on the global leaders in the smartphone industry and become the number one smartphone brand in the next three years.</p>
<p>A <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/04/xiaomi-plans-to-be-world-no-1-in-three-years-surpassing-the-likes-of-apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">similar statement</a> was made earlier in November by Lu Weibning, the Senior VP of Xiaomi Group China and GM of Redmi, who posted on Weibo clarifying Xiaomi&#8217;s goals in the future. Lu Weibing explained that Xiaomi&#8217;s Founder Lei Jun had put forward a goal of No.1 sales of Xiaomi smartphones in the world by 2024. And to achieve this, Xiaomi will first focus on increasing their sales in the Chinese market. Since 70% of the smartphone sales in China are done through physical stores, Xiaomi plans to increase their brick and mortar outlets to 30,000 in the next three years. He also stated that since Xiaomi plans to be the king of smartphone sales globally, they will not specifically target any single brand (Apple) and focus on making products that can rival all the top brands.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-290231" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/xiaomi-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/xiaomi-logo.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/xiaomi-logo-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/xiaomi-logo-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/xiaomi-logo-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/xiaomi-logo-560x420.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>The announcement by Xiaomi&#8217;s founder Lei Jun has also raised some questions about how they plan to achieve global dominance in the smartphone market. Recently, Xiaomi has constantly ranked 3rd, trailing closely behind Apple. However, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a> still has a sizable lead over the two brands. If Xiaomi plans to reach this goal they have set for themselves, we might see the brand strengthening its position in the European market, where Samsung has recently been losing ground. Additionally, the company has a perfect opportunity to consume the market share conceded by Huawei due to recent chip bans imposed on them by the U.S.</p>
<p>Only time will tell if Xiaomi can overcome this challenge and achieve the milestone of the leading global smartphone producer in the next three years, and we will be here to bring you the latest news on their progress, so stay tuned.</p>

That effort seems to have started yielding rapid results, as the &#8220;China&#8217;s Apple&#8221; has officially announced a conference holding on July 27.<img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-89790 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Xiaomi-phones-1.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi" width="579" height="660" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Xiaomi-phones-1.jpg 579w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Xiaomi-phones-1-263x300.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 579px) 100vw, 579px" /></p>
<p>The announcement came from the hands of one of the three new spokespersons employed by Xiaomi recently. Actor Liu Hao Ran, posted on Weibo about a Xiaomi press conference which would be held on July 27 at the Beijing National Convention Center.</p>
<p>Earlier statements from the tech startup had stipulated that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/06/22/xiaomi-mi5s-said-come-pressure-sensitive-display-ultrasonic-fingerprint/">Xiaomi Mi 5s</a> and the flagship <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/06/29/xiaomi-mi-note-2-variants-leaked-detail-top-end-specs-including-dual-cameras/">Mi Note 2</a> with Helio X20 processor, 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM, all metal body, fingerprint scanner and dual main camera, would be released in the second half of this year with new innovative features like pressure touch and dual main cameras.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/11/metal-xiaomi-phone-dual-cameras-spotted-redmi-note-4/">Possible redmi Note 4 Render with dual cameras spotted</a></strong></p>
<p>However, considering that this announcement comes via the spokesperson of the company&#8217;s Redmi lineup, we will see a new Redmi device at the end of this month. We have seen a few renders as well as benchmarks of Redmi devices in the past few days including Xiaomi Altun<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/13/unannounced-xiaomi-altun-hits-geekbench/" target="_blank">,</a> suspected to be the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/07/rumor-mill-xiaomi-redmi-note-4/" target="_blank">Xiaomi Redmi Note 4</a>.  So, we could be meeting this new device at the event on July 27. The flagship Redmi Note 4 is expected to pop sporting a dual camera at the rear, among a host of stunning features.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-89018 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Xiaomi-phones.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi phones" width="593" height="637" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Xiaomi-phones.jpg 593w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Xiaomi-phones-279x300.jpg 279w" sizes="(max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px" /></p>
<p>Xiaomi had shared their lofty plans for the second half of the year with us, part of which is <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/07/xiaomi-lei-jun-confirms-cheap-phones/" target="_blank">the launching of a flurry of different smartphones in one event</a>, according to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun on Weibo. Could we be seeing such scenario on July 27? Mark this date, we&#8217;ll keep you posted as always.</p>
