Given the immense fan following of the company, it&#8217;s no surprise that there are multiple rumors and leaks about the device every single day.And today is no exception, as a couple of live images of the Xiaomi Mi 5 in action were leaked. We have already seen some of the renders of the device, but this will be the first time that we are seeing pictures of the device all booted up.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-72883" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi 5 live images" width="690" height="690" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images-600x600.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images-420x420.jpg 420w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images-640x640.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-mi-5-live-images-681x681.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The device in the leaked image has a very striking resemblance to the one showed off in the earlier renders. Hence, it&#8217;s quite likely that the phone in today&#8217;s leaked images is the real deal. Like the one in the renders, even this phone comes with an oblong home button, which most probably harbors a fingerprint sensor.</p>
<p>In the first image, we can see that the phone is running on MIUI OS, and thanks to the dark wallpaper, we don&#8217;t notice any bezels. It looks like the company has done a good job with the design. However, in the second image, which shows off some of the specs of the phone in a white background, we can see some bezels on all the four corners of the device. They look pretty thin, and I am sure these borders won&#8217;t stand out as much in the black colored model.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68174" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01.jpg?x10805" alt="mi 5 HD images 01" width="828" height="671" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01.jpg 828w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01-300x243.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01-600x486.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01-518x420.jpg 518w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01-640x519.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mi-5-HD-images-01-681x552.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px" /></a></p>
<p>We still don&#8217;t have a real life image of the back panel, but from the renders, the camera should be located on the top left corner. The second image also reveals some of the specs of the Xiaomi Mi 5, like 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage. The phone was running on MIUI 7 developer edition based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.</p>
<p>From the specs point of view, the Xiaomi Mi 5 leaked today is probably the low-end variant. There should be at least another variant with 4GB of RAM. And if <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/02/18/latest-xiaomi-mi-5-rumors-suggests-a-6gb-ram-64gb-storage-version-for-2499-yuan-383/">rumors are to be believed</a>, then there&#8217;s the possibility of a 6GB RAM variant as well.</p>
<p>But for now, this seems to be our first glimpse of the Mi 5 in action. Let&#8217;s hope there are more images coming our way in the next few days.</p>
<p>UPDATE: Thanks to one of our reader @Der_Tweet_Baer on twitter, we now have another image of the Mi 5 with a silicon case. Check that out from down below.</p>

In just one day, we have come across multiple leaks about the upcoming flagship device, which really shows the excitement level among fans.</p>
<p>Now, the latest alleged images of the Mi 5 flagship shows us the back of the device for the first time. And to our surprise, we can see a rear placed fingerprint sensor.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-70463" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-02.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi 5 images 02" width="600" height="799" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-02.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-02-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-02-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Now, this makes things confusing. The majority of the Xiaomi Mi 5 images <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/01/10/xiaomi-mi-5-leaked-again-this-time-in-black/">that we have seen recently</a> confirms a physical home button up front. Now, since Xiaomi&#8217;s smartphones don&#8217;t usually come with a physical home button, we assumed that this button will most likely come with a fingerprint sensor as well. However, things get confusing after this image shows us the sensor at the back. So, it&#8217;s possible that these Xiaomi Mi 5 images are of an early prototype model.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-70464" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-01.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi 5 images 01" width="600" height="799" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-01.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-01-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi-5-images-01-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>These images reveal that the phone will have a large camera sensor at the back along with a standard LED flash and Laser Autofocus as well. The overall body seems to be made out of metal, which contradicts recent rumors which said that the phone will come with 2.5D glass both on the front as well as the back. This is why we suspect that these are two different devices.</p>
<p>So, one of these designs could be an early prototype. Or this could be an entirely different smartphone, maybe the successor to the company&#8217;s Mi Note series. At this moment, these Xiaomi Mi 5 images make things more confusing, so we better wait for some more clarification in the coming days.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, let us know which of these two design you prefer? The one that <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/01/19/xiaomi-mi-5-2-5d-glass-body-leaks-white-color/">was leaked in white </a>or the one leaked today?</p>

But like any popular handset, many renders, leaks have already started circulating on the internet. In fact, we have been hearing about the company&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/01/13/xiaomi-mi-5-plus-leaked-picture/" target="_blank">upcoming flagship for more than six months</a>. Not surprising, considering that it&#8217;s been more than a year since we saw a new smartphone in the company&#8217;s flagship Mi lineup.</p>
<p>Up till now, we have come across a lot of Xiaomi Mi 5 Renders. As a result, I decided to get them all together in one place in order to compare and see which one turned out to be our readers favorite. I have added a poll inside this post where you can name your pick.</p>
<p>There have been four major Xiaomi Mi 5 renders we have seen recently. And guess what, three of them have a physical home button up front. I am not going to consider the ones that were leaked way back (early this year), but just ones that are new and were leaked in the past few months.</p>
<p>So, without wasting any more time, let&#8217;s take a look at the popular Xiaomi Mi 5 Renders that we have seen till date!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">1. Xiaomi Mi 5 With Dual Camera Setup</span></strong></h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-01.jpeg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67003" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-01.jpeg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi 5 dual camera 01" width="440" height="782" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-01.jpeg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-01-169x300.jpeg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-01-236x420.jpeg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>Xiaomi has a huge fan following and it&#8217;s likely that one of these creative fans decided to make a render of the upcoming Mi 5 flagship. This particular render, as you can see in the image shows off the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/09/14/xiaomi-mi5-renders-emerge-with-dual-camera-setup/" target="_blank"> bezelless Xiaomi Mi 5 with a dual camera setup</a>. It was the first time we heard about the flagship featuring such a design. After that, there hasn&#8217;t been much talk about a dual camera setup on the Mi 5, which probably means this design won&#8217;t actually make it to the real world.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-02.jpeg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67002" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-02.jpeg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi 5 dual camera 02" width="440" height="782" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-02.jpeg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-02-169x300.jpeg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi-5-dual-camera-02-236x420.jpeg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>Still, it looks pretty good, especially since the bezels are thin on the top as well as the bottom. It makes the phone look quite compact, despite its large display. From the image, it looks like a phone that features a display upwards of 5.5-inches, which is not something that everyone would like.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">2. Xiaomi Mi Note Look-alike</span></strong></h3>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-66150" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak.jpg?x10805" alt="xioami mi 5 leak" width="1024" height="501" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak-300x147.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak-600x294.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak-858x420.jpg 858w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak-640x313.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak-681x333.jpg 681w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xioami-mi-5-leak-1021x501.jpg 1021w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>The second render comes directly from <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/04/is-this-our-first-look-at-the-xiaomi-mi-5-flagship-with-bezel-less-display/">Xiaomi&#8217;s official Weibo account</a>. While promoting its Xiaomi Yeelight lamp, the company released a photo via its account wherein a user was controlling the lamp using a smartphone that we haven&#8217;t seen till now. Well, it looked a lot like the Xiaomi Mi Note, but the bezels were super thin, nearly non-existent, which caught our attention. While we still don&#8217;t know whether Xiaomi intentionally teased a new handset, which probably is the Xiaomi Mi 5, the render did look quite good.</p>
<p>There have been multiple reports about the Mi 5 being bezelless, so this might be a good design for the upcoming flagship. However, it does look a lot similar to the Xiaomi Mi Note, which probably isn&#8217;t a good idea if the company wants to clearly distinguish the two series.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">3. Xiaomi Mi 5 With Rectangular Home Button</span></strong></h3>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-66457" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi5 render 01" width="460" height="468" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01.jpg 460w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01-295x300.jpg 295w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01-413x420.jpg 413w" sizes="(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px" /></a></p>
<p>After the initial two leaks, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/07/new-xiaomi-mi-5-render-reveal-physical-home-button/" target="_blank">we came across yet another render claiming to be the Mi 5</a>. This time around, the image was much clear and detailed, allowing us to see the entire front of the smartphone. Once again, we could see a front placed home button which most likely incorporates a fingerprint sensor.</p>
<p>The image came just after an analyst revealed that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/07/xiaomi-mi-5-may-not-use-ultrasonic-fingerprint-scanner/">Qualcomm Sense ID Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor was not stable enough for using in a flagship like Mi 5</a>.</p>
<p>The bezels are thin, but not non-existent as we saw in the earlier renders. In fact, it looks like this is the most believable render that we have seen of the Xiaomi Mi 5 till date. But, I personally wouldn&#8217;t want the same old design continue on the new flagship. So, I hope this is not the final design!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>4. Xiaomi Mi 5 With Oval Home Button</strong></span></h3>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-66802" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5 render 02" width="1024" height="588" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-300x172.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-600x345.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-731x420.jpg 731w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-640x368.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-681x391.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>A couple of days back, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/10/new-xiaomi-mi-5-render-shows-off-thin-bezels-oval-physical-home-button/">we came across another render of the Mi 5, this time</a>, sporting an oval shaped home button up front. The design is a bit different than what we have seen on a Xiaomi phone till now, which makes things a bit more exciting.</p>
<p>As you can see, the corners are round and the phone looks a bit large as well, not like a 5.2-inch model as rumors suggest. Once again, the display is shown as bezelless. The bottom features dual speaker grills with the new USB Type-C port in between.</p>
<p>Overall, it&#8217;s quite different than all of the renders that we have seen till now. To support this render, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/11/xiaomi-mi-5-front-panel-pictures-leaked/" target="_blank">we have seen the alleged front panel images of the Mi 5</a> similar to this design. So, could this be the final design of the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship?</p>
<p>That&#8217;s all we have on the design of the Mi 5, at least for now.</p>
<p>So, which one would you pick as your favorite?</p>
[socialpoll id=&#8221;2316136&#8243;]
<p>I am sure in the coming weeks, we will get to see more such renders, and hopefully, one of them will turn out to be the real deal!</p>

After a couple of <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/04/is-this-our-first-look-at-the-xiaomi-mi-5-flagship-with-bezel-less-display/">Xiaomi Mi 5 render </a>that cropped up online in the last one week, today a new image claiming to be of the Mi 5 was spotted on the Chinese social networking website, Weibo. This is not as clear as the previous ones, nor does it come from a reliable source, so better take it with a pinch of salt. Still, the overall design is in line with <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/11/xiaomi-mi-5-will-probably-feature-fingerprint-sensor-on-the-front/">what we have heard about the Mi 5 in the past few months</a>. So, we decided to check it out.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-66802" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5 render 02" width="1024" height="588" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-300x172.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-600x345.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-731x420.jpg 731w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-640x368.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Mi-5-render-02-681x391.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>The new Xiaomi Mi 5 render comes with an all metal design and super thin bezels, in line with previous reports. You can see dual speaker grills at the bottom beside the USB port which is probably Type-C, considering the shape as seen in the image. Further, the physical home button makes a comeback in the image, which is now more oval shaped and will probably feature fingerprint recognition. Finally, we can see that the phone runs on MIUI OS.</p>
<p>Just like we said earlier, we can&#8217;t be sure of the image, at least at the moment. It could be a fan-made render, and looks a bit different than the ones that we have seen so far.</p>
<p>Specs wise, we are expecting a 5.2-inch 2K display with Snapdragon 820, 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB RAM options, 21MP rear camera, 8MP front shooter and a large battery. However, these are just speculations and hence, cannot be confirmed for now.</p>
<p>As for the new render, do you like it better than the other Xiaomi Mi 5 renders we have seen so far?</p>

Now, a new Xiaomi Mi 5 render has made it online, revealing the front of the flagship.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-66457 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi5 render 01" width="460" height="468" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01.jpg 460w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01-295x300.jpg 295w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-mi5-render-01-413x420.jpg 413w" sizes="(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px" /></a></p>
<p>According to the new render, the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship will continue to use a design similar to the one we have seen on the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/01/15/xiaomi-mi-note-hands/">Mi Note series</a>. However, there&#8217;s one major difference up front. The phone will feature a physical home button on the front, a first for a Xiaomi device. This actually makes sense since earlier today we heard that the Mi 5 will probably come with a front facing fingerprint sensor. And up till now, we have seen major companies use a physical home button to incorporate a fingerprint sensor underneath the button.</p>
<p>As we cannot see the back of the device, we can&#8217;t be sure whether the phone features a metal body. However, according to the previous rumors, the Mi 5 is expected to come in all metal design. Further, the display which will most likely be of 5.2-inches will also come with a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/04/is-this-our-first-look-at-the-xiaomi-mi-5-flagship-with-bezel-less-display/">Force Touch/ 3D Touch pressure sensitive technology</a>.</p>
<p>Other expected specifications of the phone include 2K resolution on its 5.2-inch display, Snapdragon 820, 3GB + 32GB / 4GB + 64GB memory combinations, 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing shooter. As for software, expect the phone to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow version with MIUI 7 on top right out of the box.</p>
<p>While the company is yet to confirm a date for the phone&#8217;s release, recent rumors suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will most likely debut on January 21, 2016, which is a Thursday. It&#8217;s possible since we have continuously heard about a Jan release for the device, after which the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/26/xiaomi-may-stock-up-mi-5-in-plenty-expected-release-in-january-2016/">phone will be available for sale in February. </a></p>
<p>So, what do you think about the new Xiaomi Mi 5 render? Were you expecting a revolutionary design or did you like this one?</p>
