The Xiaomi VP  also revealed that this is the first time any brand is selling phones at a supermarket chain. The tech giant hopes to utilise the new partnership to cash in on the Diwali festive season which is usually a boom time for commerce. Online sales in India is already taken care of by Flipkart, Amazon and Xiaomi’s own Mi Home while it already has over a thousand authorized dealers with brick and mortar stores scattered all over India in addition to its Mi Stores. There is no clear indication if the deal with Big Bazaar extends beyond the Diwali season but we believe that would depend on the performance of the products. This may be just a test run of the channel. Also, other smartphones may become available as time goes on.
