The Huawei Mate 9 already has a successor that brings a bunch of new features including the most powerful Kirin chip till date and one of the best cameras in the market. However, not everyone can afford the new model.
Amazon has cut the price of the Mate 9 to $399, allowing you get a taste of that Leica goodness for less, though not at the level of the Mate 10.
The Mate 9 may already be a year old, but it shares key features (processor and cameras) with this year’s P10 flagship. So unless you are buying the P10 Plus, the Mate 9 is basically a larger P10.
The Mate 9 has a 5.9” FHD screen, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 4000mAh battery. It has dual cameras on the rear – a 20MP monochrome sensor + a 12MP RGB sensor and an 8MP front facing camera. Since this is the variant launched in the US, you also get Amazon’s Alexa AI assistant on board.

At the moment, the phone runs Android Nougat but should receive an update to Android Oreo soon with EMUI 8.0 on top.
