A fortnight ago, Xiaomi announced a red variant for the Mi 5X. If my memory serves me right, this is probably Xiaomi’s first Mi phone with a red coat. To mark its release, Xiaomi has released a bunch of promotional images for the new variant for us to feast our eyes on.
The red variant has black bezels just like the black variant and unlike the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT) RED which have white bezels. The dual rear cameras have been kept black and they stand out in a beautiful way against the red paint.
The Red Mi 5X only differs in color from its other variants. It still has a 5.5-inch FHD display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB ROM and is powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor. There are dual 12MP cameras on the rear and a 5MP camera for selfies. You also get a 3080mAh battery and Android Nougat out of the box.
Since this is the same device as the Android One Mi A1, you can port the stock android ROM on it and get Android Oreo before the end of the year.
It is interesting to see Xiaomi go bold with colors this year compared to previous years. It released the Redmi Note 4X in green and the Mi 6 and Mi Note 3 in blue. We hope it continues next year.
