Last month, Huawei had confirmed the list of smartphones that would be receiving the EMUI 8.0 update. Today, it has begun the roll out closed beta for some of the Huawei phones in China.

Huawei has officially confirmed today that it has officially released the EMUI 8.0 closed beta for Maimang, Nova Youth Version (Lite) and three variants of Honor 7X. Here are the all the model numbers of the aforementioned phones that are now receiving the EMUI 8.0 closed beta. The company has also confirmed the number of people that will be provided with closed beta.

  • Huawei Maimang 6 (RNE-AL00) – 500 people
  • Huawei Nova Lite (WAS-AL00) – 450 people
  • Huawei Nova Youth (WAS-TL10) – 50 people
  • Honor 7X (BND- AL00) – 200 people
  • Honor 7X (BND-AL10) – 50 people
  • Honor 7X (BND-TL10) – 50 people

Apart from the aforementioned devices, the following Huawei and Honor phones are also going to receive the Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 update: Huawei P9, P9 Plus, Mate 8, Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus, Honor V9, Honor 8 Youth, Honor 8, Honor V8 and Honor Note 8. The Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro have been recently treated with EMUI 8.0 update in Europe.

The Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 is the successor of EMU 5.1 that was first made available on Mate 10 series and Honor V10 smartphones. Apart from new features and improvements, the EMUI 8.0 update also tags along artificial intelligence (AI) features such as real-time scene and object recognition, smart tips, AI-driven language translation and more.
