It’s clear that this is one of the prototypes and not the final product. While its speculated that the phone is the Redmi 6, we can’t be sure whether this is even a Xiaomi smartphone. The build quality looks poor and we can’t find any Xiaomi branding. Even at the back, the user’s hand conveniently hides any logo underneath. Earlier rumours have it that the Redmi 6 could be arriving with a 5.99-inch or 5.7-inch HD+ resolution supporting display. The Snapdragon 625 SoC is expected to power it along with 3 GB of RAM. As far as pricing is concerned, the Redmi 6 could be priced under 999 Yuan (~$156).

There are less than 10 days remaining for the Shenzhen event. Xiaomi is expected to release more teasers on the devices that may get unveiled at the event. Hence, if the Redmi 6 exists for real and it is slated to get announced on May 31, the Chinese firm may confirm within this week.

Hence, it is advisable to digest the report with a grain of salt.
