More and more manufacturers are including AI-related features on their smartphones these days. Hence, chip makers are also working on SoCs that can handle AI tasks efficiently. Earlier this year, MediaTek had released the Helio P60 chipset with dedicated AI unit. Fresh information reveals that the company is working on an enhanced version of Helio P60. It may arrive with improvements in the AI department.

The MediaTek MT6771 processor also known as Helio P60 has met with good success as many phones from Oppo and Vivo feature it. According to MediaTek, it was the first one to bring 12nm chipset to the mid-range smartphone segment through Helio P60. The SoC comes with a multi-core AI processing unit also known as mobile APU for efficiently dealing with AI capabilities of smartphones.

The recently unveiled Helio P22 that is built on the same 12nm FinFET process has also met with good reception. The all new Vivo Y83 is one of the first smartphones to feature the Helio P22 SoC. Made for mid-range phones, the Helio P22 is designed to deal with AI tasks. Even though Helio P60 is an AI ready chipset, it is now speculated that an upgraded edition with AI-oriented update is in works and it will be arriving later this year.
