Nokia joined the growing band of OEMs with notch-packing smartphones last month when it went official with the Nokia X6. The notch display design is getting wide acceptance among manufacturers especially since after Apple utilized the design on the iPhone X. Unfortunately, the design isn’t as popular among fans who are actually the end-users. But since it enables the designer to shave off almost all the bezels at the top in a bid to creating a near bezel-less screen, it may not be leaving very soon.Nokia X6 software update

For those who don’t like the Nokia X6 because of its screen cut-out, Nokia has released a new update for the device. The update avails users of the option to hide the notch by activating a black border on that area. This is similar to the option Huawei included on the notch-bearing P20 series. The OnePlus 6 also has an option to hide the notch. The Nokia X6 update is presently rolling in China and the update comes with a build number of 229D.B01. Apart from this option, the update also brings along a portrait mode, background app restrictions, and application hide feature. There are also some WLAN and game screen touch control-related optimizations. In addition, the update tags along the left swipe function to delete for SMS and a couple of improvements for the user interface.

The Nokia X6 is yet to be launched for the global market but we may likely see the device launched with the updated version pre-installed. The X6 is turning to be a very popular model as it has gone on flash sale four times and the units have been sold out in record time all four times. The Nokia X6 is a premium mid-range device which packs a 5.8-inch display complete with a notch and 19:9 aspect ratio. The model is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset and buyers have the option of either 4GB or 6GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB internal storage options. The Nokia X6 equally comes with a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 16MP main sensor and a 5MP secondary camera. At the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera and keeping the lights on is a 3060mAh battery. The International version is expected to ship with stock Android 8.1 Oreo as part of the Android One program.
