There are numerous disputes and legal battles that are going on between Qualcomm and Apple after a feud happened last year in October. Since then, both the giants have boycotted each other and Apple has suspended the use of their modems in iPhone. Recently, Apple launched new iPhone models with a chip made along with Intel, they have purely sidelined Qualcomm. As per stats, 50 separate cases are pending in 16 different jurisdictions over in six countries.

Well, amid tensions, Qualcomm has given some good news about starting new cooperation with Apple again. In a TV show over at CNBC, Qualcomm CEO, Mollenkopf has said that the company is “on the doorstep” of resolving the disputes with Apple. At the same show speaking to Cramer, Mollenkopf added that they still “talk as companies” despite the tensions.

At last Qualcomm CEO churned out those golden words of a settlement with Apple – like this year or early next year. In actual words, Mollenkopf said, “We’ve always talked about — I’ve been very consistent — that … the second half of this year and into next year is when we’re really on the doorstep of finding a resolution and we don’t see anything different than that.”

Defying the earlier reports of non-settlement between both the companies, the new statement has given birth to new expectations. Instead of a lengthy trial, it seems they have found a way in between and have cooperated mutually without any significant loss.

Taking about 5G technology, CEO said Qualcomm would “love to work with Apple.” Official words go as follows, “I think there’s always an opportunity and a risk when you have these big G transitions, or the generations of wireless change,” he told Cramer. “It’s the opportunity to either be left behind or to make sure that you’re part of that new generation. Of course, we work with everybody. We would love to work with Apple.”

Overall, this is good news for both the companies, as they seem to have resolved the conflict without proceeding further for legal battles which would have cost them more with wastage of time.

We expect Qualcomm to integrate their 5G compatible modem in the upcoming iPhone models in 2020, as no time is left for the 2019 iPhone models.
