Amazon first launched the Alexa-packing Echo Show with a touchscreen display in May 2017. The Echo Show (2nd Gen) was a redesigned version with a bigger 10-inch display launched last year clutching a $229 price tag. The US giant has now launched the Echo Show 5, a trimmed down version of the Show. The new version equally comes with a much cheaper $89.99 price tag. Amazon Echo Show 5

As the name suggests, the Echo Show 5 features a 5.5-inch display which has a resolution of 960×480 pixels. The widescreen aspect ratio affords users the leverage to watch Amazon Prime Video content, as well as content from other service providers. The device also has a single but impressive 4W speaker on the back.

The device also packs a 1MP front camera for video calling other Amazon Echo users. You don’t have to bother about privacy issues as the camera has a shutter that physically blocks the camera when it’s not in use.Amazon Echo Show 5

The Echo Show 5 has similar features with the Echo Show, aside these listed trimmed down hardware. As a reminder, the device features Alexa smart assistant and can also be used for browsing as it comes preinstalled with Amazon’s Silk browser You can use voice to access your services as well as smart home devices around your house. However, the Zigbee hub for easily connecting to smart home devices that use the Zigbee protocol is absent on this version.

The Echo Show 5 comes in Charcoal and Sandstone colours and is priced at $89.99.
