Google introduced a system-wide dark mode with the latest Android 10 operating system. But that has not been very effective considering that some apps don’t support Dark mode including some Google apps. In a bid to expand support for Dark Mode across its app portfolio, Google has announced the roll-out of Dark mode support for the Google App and Google Assistant. The feature is now available on both Android and iOS.

The feature will be available on models running Android 10 and iOS 12/13 and from the look of things, there is no need to update the apps as the update for both apps are server-side. Although the post specified Android 10, some Android 9 users are also reporting that the Dark Mode option is available on their devices.

For users who have already activated a system-wide Dark Mode, the apps will automatically display a dark theme. This is done by simply converting the white UI elements to black and dark grey ones. Users also have the option of toggling between light and dark mode from the Google App settings.

The new dark theme option started rolling out on May 19 and will gradually expand to more users in the coming week.
