The latest game within the popular Pokémon franchise has just been launched. Pokémon Unite has been developed by Tencent‘s TiMi Studios and brings your favorite Pokémons in a new team strategy based MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) title to your handheld devices.

The game highly resembles popular video game titles within the same genre, namely DOTA 2 and League of Legends. Looking at the map, a similar three lane style has been adopted within the 5 versus 5 player battle arena. From the launch trailer, we also see fan favorites like Charizard use their iconic fire abilities. Hence, it’s safe to assume it would play a lot like League or DOTA.

Notably, the developer behind the game, TiMi Studios, has also developed the extremely successful Honor of Kings and Call of Dute: Mobile, which were both free to play on smartphones. Pokémon Unite will also be free to play and will arrive with crossplay from the get go, with players joining in on both smartphones and the Nintendo Switch.
