Lei Jun, the CEO and Founder of Xiaomi has apparently recently visited the Great Wall Motor’s Research and Development Center in China. The news arrives after the company was previously rumored to be working with the automobile maker for its car project.

The senior official of the Chinese tech giant was spotted at the Great Wall Motor’s R&D center earlier this week on June 8. However, neither Xiaomi nor Great Wall Motors has revealed the reason for the CEO’s visit. While the smartphone maker had initially denied any reports regarding its rumored car project, the company later announced its 10 year plan that will have it enter the automobile industry with 10 billion US Dollars as an investment, at the end of March 2021.

As per previous reports, Xiaomi had been negotiating with Great Wall Motors in order to use its factories to build its own electric smart cars. Although, the latter had denied reports of it working with the former for its car project. On the other hand, the brand was even rumored to have been in talks with certain other China based car manufacturers as well.

So, it is still unclear if the company will actually be working with Great Wall Motors for its self branded vehicles. But, the recent visit from the CEO in the R&D center in China does imply that discussions or negotiations are still underway. Unfortunately, this is all the information we have at the moment, so stay tuned for more as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.
