Huawei‘s latest smartwatch – the Huawei Watch 3 – has received a new firmware update carrying version number 2.0.0.188 HarmonyOS. It is sized 239MB. The update has only gone live for the Chinese versions of the smartwatch but regions other than China should be getting treated to it soon as well.

The new release (via: GSMArena) brings along a couple of cool feature additions. SMS reply from the watch itself is now possible and the support for playing a wide variety of music formats from the local storage has been added. The raise-to-wake function has also been further improved.

The watch also gains a new hand-washing detection feature that can help your wash your hands more effectively, based on scientific research. And last but not the least, you can now try out paid watches before having to purchase them. The trial period lasts for 5 minutes.

Last month, the Huawei Watch 3 bagged an update that added the gesture control feature. If for some reason, you have missed the feature, you can simply head over to the application menu and click on Settings > Accessibility > Gestures to access it.

The Huawei Watch 3 series comprising of the Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro was released in June this year which is around four years after its predecessor – the Huawei Watch 2. It comes with several interesting features including a 3D rotating crown as well as a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 X 466 pixels. The display has a pixel density of up to 326PPI, a peak brightness of 1000nits, and a smooth refresh rate of 60Hz. It is powered by a 450mAH battery that is encased in a stainless steel body.
