Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Pad 5 aptly renamed Xiaomi Pad 5 in Europe on September 15. The device was billed to go on sale on September 23. Rightly, the Xiaomi Pad 5 opened for its first sale today with the sale set to last for 24 hours. Apparently, the Chinese company misjudged the interest in the device as it was sold out completely in less than 10 minutes across all channels. Xiaomi Pad 5 sold out

Although we don’t know the number of units that were made available for this sale, the sale reflects the strong demand for the tablet. For a tablet, this is surprising but then, the pandemic era has seen a spike in the demand for tablets. Moreso, it is been a while since Xiaomi last updated its tablet lineup. We can’t also ignore the fact that at €299/£299, the Pad 5 is super-affordable. The sleek design, decent hardware, and pocket-friendly pricing definitely contributed to the high demand.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Pad 5 is equipped with a large 11-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a high refresh rate of 120Hz, a PPI of up to 275, and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The slate is powered by the Snapdragon 860 processor paired with 6GB RAM. The device comes in two storage options – 128GB and 256GB.

The Pad 5 also excels in the camera department, packing a single 13MP camera with LED flash at the rear. For selfies, there is a single 8MP camera at the front which also supports Face unlock. It also features four built-in speakers.

The Mi Pad 5 packs an 8720mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It runs on the new MIUI For Pad operating system. The MIUI For Pad brings features such as custom input methods, split screens, small windows, parallel windows, and other functions.
