In a few weeks, Samsung is expected to launch its next-generation Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones. Ahead of the official launch expected on 8th February, several details about the Galaxy S22 series have leaked online.

Now, the latest report coming from Korea hints about the increasing price for the lineup. It claims that because of the global shortage of chipsets, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 series phones could see a price hike.

The pricing of several important components for smartphones has increased by 30-40 percent while pricing for the power management chips and image sensor chips has increased by 10-15 percent.

The report hints that the Samsung Galaxy S22 could carry a starting price of $899, which is about $100 more compared to its predecessor. However, some reports also indicate that the company will stick to the same pricing as the Galaxy S21 series because of the increasing competition from Apple and Chinese brands.

Samsung will be launching three smartphones — Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. The phones will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset or the company’s own Exynos 2200 processor, depending on the region of availability.

The standard Galaxy S22 is expected to be a compact flagship from the South Korean giant, offering a 6.06-inch display that will have a peak brightness of 1000nits. On the other hand, the S22 Plus and Ultra models will have the highest brightness on phones, offering 1750nits brightness and contrast ratios of 3,000,000:1.

The Galaxy S22 Plus will reportedly have a 6.55-inch display while the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s display measures 6.81-inches. The Ultra model will come with a slot for holding an S-Pen stylus. For charging, the phones are said to come with a new 45W fast charging support.
