Design

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is definitely the phone with the highest build quality here. First of all, it is waterproof with the IP68 certification, while the OnePlus 10 Pro does not offer water resistance. Further, it is made with a glass back and a glass front protected by Gorilla Glass Victus Plus: the strongest protection by Corning. On the other hand, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a better front design thanks to its curved display. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is more interesting when it comes to the rear side, thanks to its smaller and original camera module. But it has a flat display coming with a lower screen to body ratio.

 

Display

Despite Samsung being the best display manufacturer among mainstream smartphone manufacturers, the display of the OnePlus 10 Pro is actually better than the panel found on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus. It is a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED panel able to show up to one billion colors with an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, a Quad HD+ resolution, the HDR10+ certification, and a very high peak brightness (up to 1300 nits). The Galaxy S22 Plus has a lower Full HD+ resolution and it does not show so many colors, even though it remains an amazing AMOLED panel.

 

Specs & Software

If we exclude the European variant fueled by the Exynos 2200 mobile platform, both these phones come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset by Qualcomm running at a max frequency of 3 GHz. Note that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is actually a better SoC than the Exynos 2200. The OnePlus 10 Pro packs a higher amount of RAM if we consider the most expensive configuration: up to 12 GB of RAM, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus stops at 8 GB. These handsets run Android 12 out of the box and they will get long software support. The Samsung flagship is likely to get more software updates, but the OnePlus 10 Pro wins the hardware comparison thanks to the higher amount of RAM.

 

Camera

The camera setup of the OnePlus 10 Pro is more impressive than the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus. It consists of a 48 MP main camera with OIS, an 8 MP telephoto sensor with 3.3x optical zoom, and a 50 MP Sony IMX766 ultrawide sensor. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus still comes with a great camera department including a 50 MP main sensor with OIS, a 10 MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera.

 

Battery

The OnePlus 10 Pro packs a bigger 5000 mAh battery and it provides a longer battery life in most scenarios. It also features faster charging thanks to a power of 80W and fast wireless charging with a power of 50W. The funny thing is that the wireless charging technology of the OnePlus flagship is actually more powerful than the wired charging technology of the Samsung one.

 

Price

The starting price of the OnePlus 10 Pro for the European market is €899/$760, while you need at least €1000 ($960 in the U.S.) to grab a unit of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus. The OnePlus 10 Pro wins the comparison thanks to a better display, superior camera department, bigger battery, and faster charging. The Samsung flagship provides a better build quality.
