The ZTE Axon 40 series launch event will be held at 2 PM (local time) on May 9 in China. The lineup will include as many as three models, such as the Axon 40, Axon 40 Pro, and Axon 40 Ultra. As many as four Axon 40 series of smartphones with model numbers A2023, A2023H, A2023BH, and A2023P are listed with specifications in the database of the TENAA certification platform. Design and Display

The Axon 40 Ultra (A2023P) is the major highlight of the lineup. The OLED panel of the phone has extremely curved edges. It offers a truly full-screen experience since it is equipped with an under-display camera. The leaked shots of the Axon 40 Pro revealed that it would be equipped with a centrally positioned punch-hole. The standard Axon 40 is also expected to sport the same front design.

The Axon 40 Ultra has a 6.81-inch OLED FHD+ 120Hz display. The Axon 40 Pro (A2023)’s display size is not known. The Axon 40 (A2023BH) houses a 6.67-inch OLED panel that offers an FHD+ resolution. The Pro model seems to feature the same screen.

The Axon 40 Ultra has a 16-megapixel under-display camera with 2.24μm pixel fusion technology. With a pixel density of 401ppi throughout the display, the front camera is almost invisible. Its back panel has 64-megapixel triple cameras. The setup reportedly includes a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 main camera with OIS support, a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 ultrawide lens, and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B telephoto camera. It will also have support for 8K video recording.

The Axon 40 Pro reportedly features a 16-megapixel selfie camera and an OIS-assisted 108-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera unit. The Axon 40 seems to house a 44-megapixel front camera, and a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 5-megapixel triple rear cameras.

Hardware and Software

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset will power the Axon 40 Ultra. It is unclear which processor will power the Axon 40 Pro and Axon 40 smartphones. The entire series is expected to arrive with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. All three models are likely to house a battery of around 4,000mAh capacity. These devices may support around 65W of fast charging.

The Axon 40 lineup will come preinstalled with Android 12 OS, which will be overlaid with MiFavor UI. The series is expected to come equipped with other features such as an in-screen fingerprint scanner, an x-axis linear motor, stereo speakers, and an IR blaster.

Pricing and Availability

There is no information on the pricing of the Axon 40 lineup. The three models are likely to be priced between 2,000 Yuan to 6,000 Yuan in China. Like its predecessor models, the Axon 40 lineup is likely to remain exclusive to the Chinese market.
