The news arrives from sources close to the matter (Via ITHome) who stated that the Chinese tech giant is planning on bringing USB 3.0 support for its new products. In the new report, a screenshot of CIT was also shared. For those unaware, CIT is a hardware test tool for Xiaomi devices. By clicking on the Kernel version multiple times in the Settings, users can enter and perform functional tests on various hardware.

In other words, the company is working on finally bringing the latest standard for its phones. The brand has been notorious for not using USB 3.0 standard for years on its flagship lineup. So it seems that this might soon not be the case anymore. With the Xiaomi 12 Ultra launch being just around the corner, it won’t be surprising if this model is the first to adopt the USB 3.0 standards.
