A new YouTube video by JerryRigEverything detailing the durability test for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 has surfaced. The video shows that the Galaxy Z Flip4 showed some cracks when it was put through the bend test. Overall, the Z Flip4 performed well, matching the track performance of its predecessor but the cracks call for concern.
The Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 are the refreshed 2nd-gen Samsung foldables. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is smaller than the Z Fold4 but it is also a beautiful device. The Z Flip4 has a unique ability that wasn’t featured in its predecessor. With the device, its rear cameras could capture and display the activity on its secondary display while the display was undergoing Zach Nelson’s stress test. The dirt shower test has been incorporated into the JerryRigEverything tests for smartphones with foldable displays. The Galaxy Z Flip4 came out pretty unscathed after the test.
The highlight of the YouTube video was during the final bend test for the Galaxy Flip4. Several popping sounds and cracks were heard when an attempt was made to fold the smartphone the wrong way. It then became difficult to close the phone with the usual snap. The screen, however, remained seemingly intact although with more of the crease than previously.
The $1,000 Galaxy Z Flip4’s (Amazon) bend test failure seems to have taken some gloss off its overall performance. But then, no one expects a flip phone to survive such an extreme usage scenario without taking a hit. Overall, the smartphone remains an elegant and durable device with a more compact form factor than its bigger sibling.
