Xiaomi is due to unveil its affordable camera-focused mid-range flagship, the Xiaomi CIVI 2, in China on September 27 (Tues) at 2 pm Beijing Time (GMT +8) / 11:30 am New Delhi Time (GMT +5:30) / 8 am Berlin Time (GMT +1).
The device is a new entry into the Xiaomi CIVI series of smartphones, which was introduced last year as Xiaomi’s latest sub-brand that caters to the youth and female market with its camera-focused sophisticatedly designed premium smartphones that are attractive to the eyes and comfortable to hold in your palms.
And after the sales successes of both the CIVI 1 and CIVI 1S in the country, Xiaomi is hyping up the Xiaomi CIVI 2 as a true disruptor in the industry with its official teasers. Xiaomi CIVI 2 Colours, Design and Build
As a fashion-first smartphone, the Xiaomi CIVI 2 will be featured in 4 premium colour options: Black, Pink, Blue and an exclusive Silk Silver colour option. The Silk Silver CIVI 2 features a unique matte-finished rear panel that features the company’s signature silk-like premium wavy pattern on the back that attracts the attention of on-lookers walking by.
On the front, the Xiaomi CIVI 2 will have a 6.56-inch curved 120Hz AMOLED display with thin bezels and an under-display fingerprint sensor. But the most news-grabbing feature of the front display has to be the front camera cutout.
The Xiaomi CIVI 2 will be the first Android smartphone to sport a centred pill-shaped cutout that resembles much of Apple’s Dynamic Island feature found on its iPhone 14 Pro series. However, instead of housing the Face ID module, Xiaomi has opted to feature a dual selfie camera setup with a 32MP main and a yet-to-be-announced ultra-wide sensor for group selfies.
Lastly, the device is rumoured to be featured in a slim and lightweight body that only measures 7.23mm in thickness and weighs 171 grams.
Xiaomi CIVI 2 Specs and Availability
For the specs, the Xiaomi CIVI 2 will be running on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile SoC, and keeping the lights on is a generous 4500 mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging.
The rear camera setup of the Xiaomi CIVI 2 could rival flagships as Xiaomi has officially teased that the Xiaomi CIVI 2 features Sony flagship 50 MP IMX766 sensor with OIS and an f/1.8 aperture, the same sensor found on competing Android flagships like the Xiaomi 12, Oppo Find X5 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro.
The Xiaomi CIVI 2 will be available with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and will run on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box.
Other features of the Xiaomi CIVI 2 include Dolby Atmos certified dual stereo speakers, an IR Blaster and dual SIM card slots on the device.
Although the Xiaomi CIVI 2 is launching on Tuesday in China, rumours point to the device being released globally as well under a different moniker, such as the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE or possibly the Xiaomi 13 Lite.
