Oppo has unveiled the Oppo Reno 9 series in China today. The successor of the Oppo Reno 8 series arrives with a new design. The lineup includes three models, such as Oppo Reno 9, Oppo Reno 9 Pro, and Oppo Reno 9 Pro Plus.
All three phones look almost the same, however, they have slightly different sets of specs. Let’s take a look at the vanilla and pro model in this article. You can learn about the pro plus here.
Oppo Reno 9 / Oppo Reno 9 Pro Specifications
The Oppo Reno 9 and Reno 9 Pro have a glass sandwich construction but the frame is plastic. They measure 7.19mm in thickness and weigh 174g.
The phones flaunt a 6.7-inch centered punch-hole curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 394 PPI, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The 10-bit panel is protected by Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2 and supports up to 950 nits peak brightness.
The vanilla variant is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC, while the pro model is run by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset. The latter also features MariSilicon X NPU for image processing.
Either way, both come with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. They also boot the same ColorOS 13 based on Android 13.
The duo arrives with the same autofocus-enabled 32MP RGBW selfie camera, however, the rear camera systems are different between the two.
The standard Reno 9 has a 64MP primary shooter and a 2MP monochrome snapper. On the other hand, the Reno 9 Pro sports a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide unit.
They offer multiple connectivity options, like dual SIM, 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, NFC, and USB Type-C. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, graphite cooling system, and infrared sensor.
Last but not least, both devices are backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast wired charging.

The Oppo Reno 9 series carry the following price tags in China.

- 12GB + 256GB – ¥2,699 ($377)
- 12GB + 512GB – ¥2,999 ($419)
Oppo Reno 9 Pro
- 16GB + 256GB – ¥3,499 ($488)
- 16GB + 512GB – ¥3,799 ($530)
The duo comes in Bright Moon Black, Tomorrow Gold, and Slightly Drunken color options. Whereas, the Reno 9 can be exclusively availed in All Things Red color variant as well.
The handsets will go on sale from December 2 in China. Just like previous generations, they should make their way to other markets in the coming weeks.
