Back in August, Nubia launched a new premium smartphone in China dubbed the Nubia Z40S Pro. The company even launched a special “Starry Night” edition (inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s popular painting) of the smartphone. Now, the company is gearing up to launch another flagship, called the Nubia Z50. This phone will be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8-Gen 2 SoC and will debut this month. Here are the details.

Nubia took to Weibo to announce a new flagship smartphone, dubbed Nubia Z50. The company says the handset will be powered by the second-generation Snapdragon 8 chipset and come with a new 35mm custom optical system. Nubia did not specify the exact launch date of the handset but confirmed it will debut sometime in December.

The Nubia Z40S Pro features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 480Hz touch sampling rate, and a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the handset comes with a custom-made 35mm, 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS support. There’s also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. For selfies, the device features a 16-megapixel snapper.

On the software front, the device runs the Android 12 operating system with the company’s own MyOS 12 custom interface layered on top. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and supports 80W or 120W fast charging.
