POCO is reportedly working on the POCO X5 series of smartphones. The lineup is expected to include two models, the POCO X5 and the POCO X5 Pro. The vanilla model has been busy bagging certifications in different countries. It has been previously spotted at certification platforms like the FCC, SIRIM (Malaysia) and BIS (India). Now, it has been approved by the NBTC authority in Thailand.

The POCO X5 has appeared with a 22111317PG model number in NBTC’s database. None of the certifications of the X5 has revealed any concrete information on its specifications. However, the model number of the device suggests that it could be a rebranded or tweaked version of the Redmi Note 12 5G available in the Chinese market.

The Redmi Note 12 5G has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It has a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. For security, it has a side-facing fingerprint scanner. It comes preloaded with Android 12 and MIUI 13.

On the front, it has an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The back panel of the device has a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth assist lens, and an LED flash. The device houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.

The Note 12 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 mobile platform. In China, the device is available with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There is no microSD card slot on the device.

Yesterday, Redmi unveiled the Redmi K60 series of smartphones in China. The event also saw the arrival of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the POCO X5 Pro could be a rebranded or tweaked edition of the Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. Rumors have it that the POCO X5 series will debut either this month or in February in different markets.
