The OnePlus Ace 2 has just been officially announced in the company’s home market of China. This device is the company’s latest budget high end smartphone model, so here are all the details regarding the Ace 2.

Design & Display

As per official notes, the Chinese smartphone maker as aiming on offering a balance of power and beauty. The company offers a refreshed design that builds upon its predecessor. The rear still has a large camera island that houses a circular module, which blends into the edge. The camera also has a particle design on the edge of its lens. The part that connects the camera and the frame is a flowing K shaped light and shadow. The rear panel is also protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, and yes it even comes with an alert slider.

Moving to the front, the OnePlus Ace 2 sports a tall 6.74 inch AMOLED display that has a 1.5K resolution (2772×1240 pixels), 1450 nits of peak brightness, 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, 1440Hz high frequency PWM dimming, Asahi Glass AGC protection, and adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz (also supports 90Hz, 60Hz, 45Hz, and 40Hz). The device also weighs 204 grams and measures 8.7mm in thickness.

Specifications

Under the hood, the Ace 2 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC that is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. With these high end specs, the company also placed an emphasis on thermal management. The device houses 5177mm² eight channel heat dissipation VC cooling. OnePlus claims that this took 2 years to design and is based on an exclusive black technology for an improved heat dissipation that is twice as effective as typical VC liquid cooling mechanisms.

The Ace 2 houses 12 high performance esports antennas and LinkBoost 4.0 network optimizations for improved networking stability and connection when gaming on the mobile. It also features game frame stabilization engine 2.0 to optimize game screen in milliseconds for better gameplay in intense multiplayer games. The device is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack that supports 100W SuperVOOC fast charging from a USB Type C port. It also features stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support. Other notable featuers include, in display fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.2, and Android 13 OS based ColorOS 13.

Camera

The OnePlus Ace 2 was announced with a triple camera setup on the rear. This include a 50 megapixel shooter, which is a high end Sony IMX890 sensor that also supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and has a 1/1.56 inch size and f/1.8 aperture. This camera is paired with an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens (120 degree, f/2.2 aperture), and a 2 megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture). On the other hand, the front houses a 16 megapixel selfie shooter.

Pricing & Availability

The OnePlus Ace 2 is available in to color options, namely Vast Black and Glacier Blue. The base 12GB + 256GB variant will go on sale for 2,799 Yuan (roughly 412 US Dollars). Meanwhile, the 16GB + 512GB version has a price tag of 3,099 Yuan (roughly 515 US Dollars). The device will be available for pre-orders starting today (7th February 2023) and will be available in China starting from 13th February 2023. For those unaware, the Ace 2 will launch as the OnePlus 11R in the global market later today.
