Huawei Watch GT Runner smartwatch is getting an upgrade to HarmonyOS 3, providing a better user experience. The rollout was initially planned for last year, but it had to be rescheduled to this month, with a stable version instead of a beta activity.

The update started rolling out in the Chinese market and will gradually be available to global consumers. The major upgrade comes with the HarmonyOS build version 3.0.0.73 and a package size of 83.06MB.

The update brings several new features and optimizations, including a new outfit dial that allows users to set a picture of themselves as the watch face. A new kaleidoscope watch face creates a brand new representation of the user’s image inside the dial. The update also adds new menu operation gestures, making the smartwatch more intuitive and user-friendly.

The HarmonyOS 3 upgrade also includes a new app that detects respiratory health issues, although it is currently only available to Chinese users. It can actively screen for the risk of lung infection by combining physiological indicators such as body temperature and respiratory rate and intelligent recognition and judgment of abnormal cough sounds. Additionally, the update adds a new flashlight and colored light options, enhancing the party atmosphere by turning on the flashlight on the wrist during parties or concert scenes.

It is important to note that the update may take some time to transfer from the smartphone to the smartwatch, and the watch will restart after the upgrade process is complete. Users must ensure that their smartwatch and smartphone remain close to maintain the Bluetooth connection, and if the download fails due to any reason, they should try again and restart the download procedure.
