The Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 has officially reached the end of its life. The company has announced that it will be ending support for the smart glasses later this year, so here are all the details.
For those unaware, the Google Glass was first unveiled back in 2013 but was considered to be a commercial failure in the market. However, the Search Engine giant had shifted the its augmented reality (AR) product to businesses and enterprises. This also had the company dub the wearable device as the Google Glass Enterprise Edition. A couple of years after, the brand also released the second generation model in 2019 that was built with the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 hardware platform.

But earlier this week, the company has announced that the Google Glass Enterprise Edition have been officially discontinued. As per official notes on the Google Glass website, the company will still continue to support its existing customer base. However, this support will only last till 15th September 2023 and there will no longer be any software updates for this platform. In other words, the Glass clients will only be able to get replacement devices until this date.
Although, the third party developers will still be able to update their applications that are responsible for business specific tasks. Furthermore, existing headsets will still work as normal. But, the “Meet on Glass” app may break after September 15, since it is only guaranteed to work till that date.
