Amidst hundreds of global startups to feed the growing electric bike industry, California-based startup Bandit has taken the cycling world by storm. They just opened their inaugural retail store in Santa Monica. To mark this milestone, they have unveiled their latest creation, the Bandit X-Trail Pro—an electric bike designed for those who crave power and adventure. Blurring the line between an e-bike and a moped, the X-Trail Pro combines robust performance with rugged off-road capabilities.

The Bike’s 20-inch wheels are covered with 4-inch puncture-resistant CST fat tires

At first glance, the Bandit X-Trail Pro exudes a bold and aggressive aesthetic that immediately catches the eye. While marketed as a street-legal e-bike, its appearance aligns more closely with that of a moped, signaling its intended audience of off-road enthusiasts. With a formidable combination of a 750-Watt front-hub motor and a 1,000W rear hub, this two-wheeler reaches an impressive top speed of 42 miles per hour. Additionally, a seven-speed Shimano Altus drivetrain and a twist throttle enable riders to experience thrilling speeds of up to 38 mph.

The X-Trail Pro’s 6061 aluminum alloy frame guarantees durability while accommodating a wide range of riders with its low step-over height. Its 20-inch wheels, equipped with 4-inch puncture-resistant CST fat tires, effortlessly conquer challenging terrains. Furthermore, dual rear shocks and a front suspension fork ensure a smooth and comfortable ride, absorbing bumps along the way. When it comes to braking power, the Nutt four-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 180-mm rotors deliver reliable and effective stopping capabilities.

Featuring two removable batteries, the X-Trail Pro is engineered for long-lasting adventures. The front battery boasts a capacity of 960 Wh, while the second battery, concealed beneath the seat, provides an additional 720 Wh. Bandit’s extensive testing has shown that the X-Trail Pro can achieve an impressive range of over 120 miles per charge. In terms of convenience and functionality, the bike incorporates an LED headlamp, rear illumination with turn signals, a comfortable seat, and a stylish BMX-style handlebar. A color LCD display mounted on the handlebar offers riders the option to choose between front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or a combination of both, while secure access is granted via a digital password or an NFC card.

To fund further production and possibly put more support into future R&D, Bandit has launched an Indiegogo pre-order financing campaign, with prices for the X-Trail Pro starting at a surprisingly affordable $1,999 USD when you put it next to its competition. Similar e-bikes go for $3,500 USD in the still-ripening market. Shipping is slated to commence in September 2023, subject to successful production and delivery. Prepare to unleash your inner off-road adventurer with the Bandit X-Trail Pro—where power meets versatility in an electrifying ride like no other.
