UK’s Orange Bikes is bringing back the Patriot, a fan-favorite downhill racing MTB from the early 2000s. But don’t let the nostalgia fool you; this isn’t your father’s mountain bike. Rebuilt from the ground up, the new Patriot captures the latest in electric biking tech while keeping an eye on its legacy.

The bike is priced at almost $10,000 – and it’s a high price

Equipped with a Bosch Performance Line CX motor, a name often echoed in e-bike discussions, the electric Patriot isn’t just relying on a classic name to turn heads. This motor cranks out 85 Newton-meters of torque, making uphill trails and rocky terrains seem like child’s play. It houses a 750-watt-hour battery snugly fitted into its downtube, offering riders enough juice to fuel their adrenaline-packed adventures.

What sets the new Patriot apart? Orange Bikes has re-engineered the bike to feature a single-pivot full-suspension frame design, ensuring riders get the maximum out of their off-road adventures. And speaking of suspension, the Patriot doesn’t cut any corners. It’s outfitted with a high-end Fox Performance 38 fork in the front and a Fox Float X Performance air shock in the rear. All this tech doesn’t just make the bike a powerhouse; it adds finesse to the ride, giving the term ‘smooth sailing’ a whole new meaning.

Alongside its performance metrics, Orange has incorporated some thoughtful touches for practicality. Internally routed cables keep things neat, while a Zero Stack headset adds to the bike’s front-end stability. Also, the presence of a water bottle boss under the top tube makes hydration easier on long rides. The only real hitch? Its a $9,900 price tag. However, for those passionate about both nostalgia and cutting-edge tech, the new Patriot serves as a masterclass in combining the two.
