Samsung is preparing to release its much-anticipated Galaxy Ring smart ring in late July, as per recent industry reports. This sleek wearable, announced unexpectedly during the Galaxy S24 series unveiling, is poised to revolutionize health tracking and convenience with its unique form factor and extensive features. If launched as expected, the Galaxy Ring will debut alongside the new Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 foldable smartphones at the same event.
Galaxy Ring is expected to come in eight different sizes
The rumored Galaxy Ring is anticipated to include advanced features such as blood flow measurement and electrocardiogram capabilities, along with smart home device control and contactless payments, making it an appealing alternative to bulky smartwatches.
Samsung isn’t the only tech giant eyeing the smart ring market. Apple is reportedly accelerating its development of the “Apple Ring,” continuously filing patents and hinting at a potential launch in the near future. This fierce competition is set to ignite the global smart ring market, predicted to reach a whopping $197 million by 2031.
The report also says the Galaxy Ring will be available in eight different sizes to ensure a comfortable and perfect fit for everyone. The ring is currently in the prototype stage, with mass production expected to begin in the second quarter. Samsung is betting on the convenient form factor and long-wearability of the ring to disrupt the healthcare wearables market.
During the Unpacked event, President Noh Tae-moon of Samsung Electronics said, “We believe a ring form factor is essential to complete digital healthcare, as it allows for long-term wearability and convenient use.” This philosophy seems to resonate with industry experts, who predict significant growth in the smart ring market, particularly in North America and Asia-Pacific regions. While the Finnish company Oura currently holds the top spot with its Oura Ring, Samsung’s entry is poised to shake things up.
