Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is set to take place on June 10. As usual, the Cupertino-based tech giant will be announcing the next-generation software versions for its products like iPhones, iPads, and more. The iOS 18 is expected to be the key focus of the event as it is reported to come with AI features. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reveals the AI-powered features that the upcoming operating system could pack on iPhones.

iOS 18 to come with some on-device AI features

iOS 18 AI Features

As per Gurman’s latest newsletter, iOS 18 will come with notification summarization tool. It will summarize notifications, news articles, and transcribe voice memos. Siri is also said to have more capabilities for a more conversational tone. Thus the upcoming software version will focus on proactive intelligence. The features will help in the everyday lives of users. Additionally, the report states that Apple may introduce AI-based photo editing tools and also improvements to the Calendar app.Ā

Gurman adds that Apple will use on-device processing for these AI features. The company may also plan to offer AI services through the cloud supported by Apple silicon chips in its data centres. The Cupertino-based tech giant won’t be announcing its proprietary chatbot at this time. This is because the company is lagging behind in the Gen AI space. Gurman mentions that Apple could announce its partnership with OpenAI at WWDC but the later on the company could eventually release its deeply integrated chatbot.Ā

Apple has also been talking with Google for Gemini AI on iOS 18 but no agreement has been reached so far. Regardless, the company will be finally stepping into the AI space at last in a few week’s time. Alongside today’s report detailing AI features, previously it was reported that iOS 18 may revamp some native apps and bring changes to the home screen.Ā
