Huawei has unveiled a new addition to its children’s smartwatch lineup – the Children’s Watch 5 New Xingyao Edition. This smartwatch prioritizes safety and communication, boasting features like offline positioning, smooth video calls, and a long-lasting battery. This comes after the recent launch of the Children’s Watch 5 Pro. Let’s check out its key specs.
Huawei Children’s Watch 5 Xingyao Edition Specifications:
The smartwatch comes with an offline positioning feature, which allows it to continue providing location data even when the device is powered on but out of cellular service due to unpaid fees or when entering signal blind spots. This function leverages Huawei’s “Search” network technology to maintain connectivity through other Huawei devices nearby, enhancing the safety features of the watch.
The Children’s Watch 5 Xingyao Edition utilizes a 10-fold AI positioning system, combining Huawei’s NLP algorithm with multiple map sources to deliver precise location tracking. It provides indoor positioning in over 5,000 public places nationwide, records all-day trajectories, allows parents to set safety zones, and even notifies them when their child arrives at or leaves school.
Communication is made easy with smooth video calls between the watch and various devices like smartphones, tablets, and smart screens. Kids can also safely add friends through WeChat Children’s Edition and QQ Children’s Edition, and parents have control over contact management to ensure their child’s safety.
The watch is also equipped with a large 800mAh battery that supports fast charging, achieving 50% charge in just 20 minutes, and it boasts an IPX8 waterproof rating, ensuring it can withstand typical child-related accidents and exposures to water.
Moreover, the watch integrates multiple child-friendly functions such as a payment QR code feature supporting Alipay and WeChat, a variety of educational apps, and stringent security measures including anti-addiction modes and privacy protection aligning with EU GDPR standards.
Pricing and Availability
The watch comes in a vibrant blue or pink color option, featuring a spray-painted mech-style shell and a comfortable hollow silicone strap. It is priced at 598 yuan ($84) and it is now listed on JD.com.
