MediaTek is reportedly working on a new Dimensity 8-aeries chip called the Dimensity 8400. A recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the Redmi Turbo 4 will be the first phone to feature the new chip. Redmi General Manager Wang Teng Thomas has confirmed that the Turbo 4 will debut this month, but the company is yet to release its official teasers. A new update by the same Xiaomi executive reveals that the Turbo 4’s launch has been postponed.

Wang Teng Thomas responded to a query about upcoming announcements by stating, “Plans have changed!” This suggests a possible postponement of the Redmi Turbo 4’s anticipated launch event.

Dimensity 8400 to launch on December 23, Redmi Turbo 4 to debut in January 2025

Reports now suggest that the Turbo 4 will be announced in January 2025. There is no clarity as to why the arrival of the Turbo 4 has been delayed. The Redmi K80 series, which debuted in November in China, is reportedly selling very well both online and offline. This success could provide more sales space for the K80 lineup, leading to a shift in priorities. As a result, the launch of the Redmi Turbo 4 may be delayed, allowing for continued focus on the K80 series.

According to reports, the Turbo 4 will have a flat OLED screen that offers a 1.5K resolution. Although the device’s battery size remains unknown, it is expected to support 90W rapid charging. The device is likely to cost between 1,500 Yuan (~$205) and 2,000 Yuan (~$275).

As far as the Dimensity 8400 chip is concerned, it is expected to include 1 x 3.25GHz Cortex-A725, 3 x 3.0GHz Cortex-A725, and 4 x 2.1GHz Cortex-A725 CPU cores. According to reports, the 4nm chip will include a 1300MHz Immortalis-G720 MC7 GPU for graphics. Rumors suggest that China will announce the Dimensity 84000 on Dec. 23.

Redmi Turbo 4 Pro tipped to launch in April 2025

Rumors are rife that the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro will be the first phone to feature it.
