Apple has long been rumored to be working on a foldable iPhone, which is also expected to carry a hefty price tag. Now industry analyst Tim Long speculates a $2,300 price tag for the device in the US.
This estimate reportedly follows a trip to Asia where Long’s team met with suppliers, who indicated a likely launch window of late 2026 to early 2027. For context, this is nearly double the starting price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max – $1,199.

It’s in line with earlier predictions
Earlier this month, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted a price range of $2,000 to $2,500, further narrowing expectations. Kuo provided additional details about the device. He suggests it will feature a 7.8-inch folding screen, a 5.5-inch cover display, two rear cameras, a Touch ID power button, and a high-density battery.
When unfolded, the device is expected to be 4.5mm thin, thickening to 9mm to 9.5mm when folded. The frame will reportedly use titanium, with the hinge combining titanium and stainless steel for durability.
While expectations are high about the foldable iPhone, you should also keep in mind that this is going to be the brand’s first phone with a foldable display and a hinge. There were several issues with the early generations of book-style Galaxy foldables, and the company has yet to solve the crease problem. The high price tag is also expected to limit the sales volume, somewhat like what we have seen with the Apple Vision Pro.
Apple does have a track record of perfecting the technology before building a consumer product with it, and it will be interesting to see how many of the challenges they have managed to fix.
