Asus has launched the RT-BE82U, a BE6500-class Wi-Fi 7 router designed to deliver faster and smarter connectivity for modern homes. First showcased at CES 2025, the router is priced at 1,499 yuan (around $206) and will go on sale starting April 30, targeting users who need high-speed performance and robust network management.

Asus RT-BE82U Specifications
The RT-BE82U features dual-band Wi-Fi 7 technology, delivering speeds of up to 6500Mbps across the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It comes with Multi-Link Operation (MLO) support, enabling devices to link across multiple bands at once for more stable and efficient connections. The router also sports 4K QAM modulation, offering up to 20% better data transfer rates compared to Wi-Fi 6E systems.
Inside, it equips a 2.0GHz quad-core Broadcom processor paired with 1GB of DDR4 RAM, delivering a significant 78% boost in compute performance over its predecessor. It comes with Skyworks front-end modules to strengthen wireless signal output, making it a powerful option for bandwidth-intensive tasks like 8K streaming and HDR gaming.
For wired connections, the RT-BE82U features five full-speed 2.5GbE Ethernet ports, providing a total wired bandwidth capacity of up to 12.5Gbps. It also comes with a USB 3.0 port that supports mobile network tethering or storage sharing, offering flexibility for both internet redundancy and lightweight NAS setups.
The router sports a durable aluminum alloy 3D heatsink, hexagonal honeycomb vents, and an aerodynamic design to improve thermal management during heavy workloads. It also features RangeBoost+ technology, which Asus claims improves Wi-Fi coverage by up to 38% across larger homes.

Security-wise, it comes with AiProtection powered by Trend Micro, offering real-time protection against online threats. It supports Asus’s Smart Home Master system, allowing users to create separate SSIDs for IoT devices, children’s devices, and VPN networks. It also integrates NetEase UU Accelerator, offering optimized gaming connectivity with a 40-day free membership.
Environmentally, the RT-BE82U sports an eco-conscious design, using 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics and FSC-certified packaging, underscoring Asus’s efforts toward sustainability.
For users looking to build an extended network, it features full AiMesh compatibility, allowing it to connect with other Asus routers to create a seamless whole-home Wi-Fi system. It also equips easy-to-use parental controls, real-time network monitoring, and extensive VPN support, including WireGuard for faster, more secure browsing.
In related news, Lenovo recently launched a 5G router with dual SIM support and Wi-Fi 6 for just $86, while TP-Link introduced the TL-WR3002X, a high-speed Wi-Fi 6 travel router.
