When it comes to action cameras, names like GoPro, DJI and Insta360 dominate the conversation. But for budget-conscious users or beginners, brands like SJCAM offer more affordable alternatives. The SJCAM C110 Plus promises 4K video, compact portability and multiple recording modes, all at a fraction of the cost of big-brand models. So, is it a budget win or a compromise too far? Let us dive into our full experience with this compact action camera.

1Design and first impressions: Tiny but not flawless

The SJCAM C110 Plus is impressively compact, smaller than traditional action cameras, and very easy to carry. It is available in either black or white, both offering a minimalistic look.

The front is dominated by a large lens that takes up nearly half the surface. Between the lens and the LED status light, you will find small perforations for the microphone and speaker. On the right-hand side, there is a power button that also starts or stops video recording, along with a secondary button to activate Wi-Fi and cycle through modes. Underneath, there is a covered microSD card slot, USB-C port and a tiny reset pinhole.

As for mounting, SJCAM includes a range of accessories such as a clear case, magnetic pendant, and bracket mounts. These are compatible with standard GoPro-style mounts, offering flexibility for different use cases. However, while the camera can be kept on a surface in a standing position or even upside down, there is no integrated tripod mount on the camera body itself. A missing lens cap also feels like an oversight, considering how exposed the front element is.

Since the camera is designed to be small, there is no built-in screen. Therefore, it can be used as a wearable camera for vlogging, cycling, travel, home security, pet monitoring or even as a webcam.
