Infinix unveils new 3D Lighting Leather tech, set to debut with Note 30 VIP

Infinix has been releasing some exciting new technologies lately, the most recent being the GT 10 Pro smartphone. The company’s research and development team is clearly working hard, as they have now revealed a 3D Lighting Leather technology. This new tech, which will be featured on the back of a smartphone, combines colorful LED lights with translucent thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) leather.

Infnix 3D leather tech

As reported by GSMArena, Infinix has unveiled what it calls the industry’s first “highly translucent 3D lighting leather”. It has been crafted using 4 different layers, with an LED Light Guide Film (LFG) as the base. Next comes the lightproof paint topped by the fiberglass material. The layer which you’ll see on the outside consists of Translucent TPU leather.

According to the illustration Infinix provided to the outlet, the translucent nature of the layers allows the LEDs on the bottom layer to shine through the uppermost TPU leather layer. The translucent 3D lighting leather can be used for the same purpose as LED lights on smartphones— to display dynamic notifications and alerts for various apps. Notably, Infinix wants to pair this tech with sound effects, which seems like Nothing new (pun intended).

Infnix 3D leather tech 2

While details are limited, Infinix might program the LEDs to light up in a certain color when you receive a text message or to flash when you have a new notification. It could also be used to create custom visuals for different apps. This is something Nothing does with its glyph, however, we’ll admit Infinix’s approach is rather unique and futuristic.

The new tech is reported to debut with the Infinix Note 30 VIP Special Edition later this month but we don’t see an announcement on Infinix’s official channels.

OPPO Applies to Trademark “AndesGPT” and “AndesAI” for New AI Assistant

Oppo announced in August that it would launch an expansive experiential activity featuring its new version of Xiaobu Assistant, which is built on the company’s large language model, AndesGPT. The company has now applied to register multiple “AndesGPT” and “AndesAI” trademarks, with an international classification of scientific instruments, communication services, and website services. The current trademark status is under application.

AndesGPT is a generative large language model (LLM) developed by the OPPO Andes Intelligent Cloud team. The team began exploring and implementing pre-trained language models two years ago and self-developed large models OBERT with 100 million, 300 million, and 1 billion parameters. OBERT once ranked fifth in the overall list of the Chinese language understanding evaluation benchmark CLUE1.1 and first in the large-scale knowledge graph question-answering ranking KgCLUE1.0.

OPPO revealed that AndesGPT is based on the OBERT model training experience and integrates key technologies such as continuous learning of Chinese dialogue data, fine-tuning of instructions, human feedback reinforcement learning, and knowledge enhancement. In June this year, it ranked first on the C-Eval evaluation list.

The application of the AndesGPT and AndesAI trademarks suggests that OPPO is planning to make a big push into the AI assistant market. It will be interesting to see how OPPO’s new Xiaobu Assistant performs in the market. If it can offer a compelling user experience, it could be a major player in the AI assistant space.

In addition to the trademark applications, OPPO has also been making other moves to strengthen its AI capabilities. In April, the company announced a partnership with Alibaba Cloud to jointly develop AI technologies.  This will allow OPPO to develop more sophisticated AI-powered features for its smartphones, as they had just recently shut down their chip business.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE may arrive in Galaxy S9 Lilac Purple color

We have been hearing a lot about the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE for the last few days. Thanks to these leaks, almost everything about this upcoming smartphone is already out.

A few days back, it was listed on TENAA with key specs and real-life images. At around the same time, another reliable source revealed the official colors of the handset.

Let’s check out in which hues the next-gen Fan Edition device from Samsung will be offered.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

According to GalaxyClub, the forthcoming Galaxy S23 FE will arrive in the following four colors.

  • Graphite
  • White
  • Lime
  • Purple

Multiple Samsung smartphones come in the aforementioned hues. But one of these colors is interesting.

The color code for ‘Purple’ matches the Galaxy S9’s Lilac Purple. If the actual hue of the device turns out to be the same, then this color will make its return after more than 5 years.

The current purple hue used by Samsung is pale. While the Galaxy S9’s purple had a redder glow. The source suggests that this could be the hero color for the Galaxy S23 FE.

As for specs, TENAA had disclosed that the phone will arrive with a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, an octa-core SoC (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 depending on region), a 50MP + 8MP + 12MP triple cameras system, a 10MP selfie camera, and a 4,370mAh battery.

The product is expected to go official before the end of 2023. It could be accompanied by Galaxy Buds FE.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra Octa-Core Processor Based On 4nm Process Announced

MediaTek has quietly announced a new Dimensity processor in China. The latest chipset is the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra. It is in addition to the Dimensity 7200 that was introduced earlier this year. The SoC seems to be a slightly better version of the Dimensity 7200. The latest Dimensity 7200 Ultra is based on TSMC’s 4nm process. Read on to know more details about the chipset below.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra specifications

The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra is an octa-core processor based on TSMC’s 4nm architecture. The setup comprises of two ARM Cortex A715 cores clocked at 2.8GHz and six Cortex A510 cores ticking at 2GHz. The chipset also features Mali-G610 GPU for graphics. It supports both LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM.

The Dimensity 7200 Ultra is compatible with up to 200MP cameras along with 4K video recording at 30 fps. It can support Full HD+ displays at a 144Hz refresh rate. The chipset also features a fifth-generation MediaTek APU 650 for AI processing. It supports 14-bit HDR image processing thanks to the Imagiq 765 ISP.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra is also 5G-compatible with support for dual 5G standby, VoNR, and carrier aggregation. It also has a HyperEngine 5.0 gaming engine for variable rendering, intelligent control, and more.

MediaTek has not revealed which devices will be powered by the Dimensity 7200 Ultra. However, the Xiaomi sub-brand announced on Weibo that the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ will be equipped with the said chipset. The device is confirmed to launch this month with a 200MP camera sensor.

[Update] MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is reportedly overheating

[Update] MediaTek has reportedly contacted NotebookCheck, asserting that the mentioned report is “completely false and has no source or basis in fact”. The original story continues….

Rumors suggest that MediaTek is set to unveil its Dimensity 9300 SoC in October. This cutting-edge chip will utilize TSMC’s N4P process and is poised to compete with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Apple A17 Bionic. However, it appears that the new chip has encountered some challenges along the way.

MediaTek-Dimensity

Known leaker Evan Blass (via Android Headlines) has stated that the upcoming Dimensity 9300 SoC is apparently overheating when running at its expected clock speeds. To recall, the Dimensity 9300 made waves by opting to forgo efficiency cores, instead featuring a configuration of 4x Cortex-X4 and 4x Cortex-A720 cores, arranged in a 3+1 layout. This inclusion of only high-performance cores is most likely the reason for the SoC overheating.

A lose-lose situation

Looking at what happened with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, it’s clear that phone makers are really focused on keeping phones from getting too hot. They quickly switched to the cooler Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 when it came out. So now, MediaTek is in a tough spot. If they send out the chips as they are, most phone companies might not want to use them. But if they slow down the chip’s performance, it won’t be as attractive either. Additionally, it throws a wrench into MediaTek’s plans to surpass the competition.

Previous reports have mentioned that the upcoming Dimensity 9300 is rumored to have a 3 GHz minimum clock speed. It was also said to be 50% more power-efficient than the Dimensity 9200.

Apple Watch Series 9, Watch Ultra 2 To Feature A New U2 Chip, Internal Component Upgrades

Apple is gearing up for its Wonderlust fall event that is scheduled to take place tomorrow. The company is expected to announce the next-generation flagship iPhones, smartwatches, and more. The Apple Watch Series 9 will arrive as the successor to the last year’s Watch Series 8. We will also reportedly get the second-generation Watch Ultra. Key details about the upcoming wearable devices have surfaced in the past. Now Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared more information on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2.

Leak reveals new details of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2

Previously, it was reported that the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 will be powered by the new S9 processor that is touted to offer significant performance upgrades compared to the current-generation Watch Series 8. The upcoming offering is said to be the first time since the Series 6 to deliver massive performance improvement.

In a new development, Gurman reports that the Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 will feature the new U2 ultrawide-band chip. Apple has been using the U1 chip on all smartwatch models since it was launched in 2019. The new U2 chip will bring improvements to the Find My capabilities. The smartwatches will also adopt Apple’s new optical heart rate sensor for better accuracy. The upcoming offerings will reportedly feature recycled material more than before with Apple reportedly testing 3D-printed cases for the Watch Series 9’s stainless steel models. Speculations are rife that the company may shift away from some of its leather watch bands and it might update or discontinue its stainless steel link bracelets

Huawei Mate 60 Pro gets a cooling case like OnePlus 10T and Oppo Find X5 Pro

A couple of weeks back, Huawei shocked the world by releasing the Mate 60 Pro with support for 5G connectivity in China. The device is powered by the company’s new chip in three years — HiSilicon Kirin 9000s.

This phone was later followed by the launch of Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro Plus, and Mate X5. All of them feature the same chipset.

Since the release of Mate 60 Pro, Huawei has been only selling two official cases. But earlier today, a marketing material revealed that the company will be offering three more official cases for the smartphone, incrementing the total number to five.

Huawei Mate 60 Pro Official Cases

As per a screenshot shared by a Douyin blogger, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro can accessorize their device any of the following official cases.

  • Plain Leather Magnetic Protective Case – ¥99 (~$15)
  • Silicone Magnetic Protective Case – ¥99 (~$15)
  • Smart Window Cover – ¥229 (~$30)
  • Ring Flash Protective Case – ¥299 (~$40)
  • Micropump Liquid Cooling Shell – ¥299 (~$40)

As of writing this article, only the first two models were available for purchase on VMall. They can be availed in either black, white, and purple color options. The silicone case also comes in green.

The Smart Window Case (flip cover) leaked yesterday suggesting a retail price of ¥199. But apparently, it costs ¥30 more based on the latest info.

The Ring Flash case returns as well, which was initially introduced for the Huawei Mate 40 series in 2020. The LED ring on this cover can be used as a fill-in light and for flash notifications.

Finally, the newest case on the offer is the Micropump Liquid Cooling Shell for added heat dissipation. As per the official description, it is similar to the Oppo Find X5 Pro’s Ice-Skin Case and the OnePlus 10T’s Glacier Mat Case.

The official cases for the Mate 60 Pro really go well with the handset. But unfortunately, the device is not hitting the global markets.

Samsung Galaxy Buds FE confirmed as the next Wireless Earbuds

Samsung is expanding the Fan Edition series across a variety of devices, starting with smartphones, the earbuds are the next in line to join the FE series. As confirmed via the official manual that appeared on the Samsung Germany website, the Korean giant is launching new wireless earbuds – Galaxy Buds FE.

The document reveals the design details and even unearths some tiniest specification details. The images reveal design similarities with the old wireless earbuds while bundling a better touchpad on the earbuds’ outer side. It will surely enhance the operations while using it. Little wings on the earbuds improve the in-ear holding ability. Moreover, it does feature a couple of microphones on each earbud for better noise cancellation.

Must See: New Samsung Galaxy Buds in development, could be an FE model

We can also see a wear detection sensor, silicon ear tips, and a total of four microphones as depicted in the manual document.

The White charging case is quite similar to that of the Buds2 case. It bundles a USB Type-C charging port and charging indicator light both inside and outside the case. By looking at the glossy charging case we can’t confirm whether it will feature wireless charging or not.

As expected, the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE is a bit downsized version as it houses two microphones instead of three on Galaxy Buds2 Pro. The presence of more than one microphone also hints towards the presence of ANC.

Overall, the slight design changes on the Galaxy Buds FE seem interesting and useful.

Samsung is also working on the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone, and it has appeared in multiple leaks and support pages. Earlier it was expected to launch by the end of this year, but considering the recent leaks and appearance on official Samsung pages, the launch seems nearing. Both the Fan Edition devices could come together within a few weeks or months.

Considering the pricing of Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Buds2, we assume the new FE variant earbuds will cost somewhere around $100.

Honor Magic 6 Pro Tipped to Feature Centered Pill-Shaped Hole-Punch Display

Honor has not too long ago introduced the Magic 5 series smartphones, but the company is rumored to be already working on their successor. Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has spilled some beans about the upcoming Honor Magic 6 Pro.

Honor Magic 6 Pro Centerally Aligned Camera

The tipster suggests that there is a version of the Honor Magic 6 Pro engineering machine with a “centered pill hole” display. This will be a departure from the Magic 5 Pro‘s left-aligned pill-shaped cutout. However, the device still has a 3D face recognition sensor, while the other sensor in the pill-shaped cutout will be used as a front-facing camera.

In addition, the tipster claims that the MagicOS 8.0, Honor’s upcoming UI based on Android 14,  has also been adapted to support the centered pill-shaped display and it will likely have a feature similar to the iPhone’s dynamic island style. Apart from this, not much is known about the device as of now. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is expected to be officially launched in 2023, but there is currently no specific release date.

Besides the Magic 6 Pro, Honor’s new MagicOS 8.0 system is also worth paying attention to. It is reported that the new MagicOS 8.0 system will be released alongside the Honor 100 series.

According to reports, Honor MagicOS 8.0 will feature a self-developed microkernel that is said to enhance fluency and reduce power consumption.

A microkernel is the core of an operating system, and it is responsible for managing the most basic tasks of the system, such as memory management and process scheduling. By developing its own microkernel, Honor can better optimize the performance and security of the MagicOS 8.0 system.

Polestar Joins Growing Trend of EV Makers Launching Smartphones

The competition in the electric vehicle market is increasing day by day. Manufacturers are trying different things to get ahead of their rivals and sell more vehicles in the market led by Tesla and BYD. Polestar is one of these manufacturers. It has been a part of the EV market competition for some time and is doing everything it can to stand out. According to the reports, the company’s latest plan is to produce smartphones under the Polestar brand. Here are the details…

Polestar to Launch Own Smartphone in China

Tech companies follow trends just like fashion brands. For example, if we go back a few years, we can see how all Android manufacturers rushed to produce a notch-screen phone after Apple introduced the iPhone X, even though it was not always necessary. The electric vehicle market is no different. As you know, the trend of EV manufacturers launching their own smartphones is becoming increasingly popular in China.

Polestar

This is because smartphones are seen as a way for manufacturers to offer a more modern user experience and differentiate themselves from traditional car brands. Now, Polestar is the latest EV maker to join this trend. As we mentioned above, Polestar has been operating under the Volvo umbrella since it was sold in 2015. However, Volvo was also acquired by Chinese automotive giant Geely a few years ago.

This means that the company’s plans are actually being made by a Chinese manufacturer. Therefore, it is not a big surprise that the company is working on a Polestar smartphone. Especially considering that Meizu is another company that has been acquired by Geely. The phone is expected to be released in China first, and it is not yet clear if it will be available in other markets. However, the move is seen as a way for Polestar to compete with other EV manufacturers.

Polestar is not the only electric vehicle maker that is looking to launch its own smartphone. Chinese EV maker NIO has also announced plans to launch a smartphone, and other companies, such as Tesla, BYD, Lucid Motors and Fisker are also considering the idea. Unfortunately, that’s all we know for now, and we don’t have much more to share other than that we expect the phone to have flagship features. We’ll keep you updated as things develop.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro maybe $300 more expensive than the iPhone 15

The Apple iPhone 15 series launch is almost here. But ahead of the official announcement, a new report has hinted that the price gap between the base and higher-end Pro models might be widening even further.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Price Hikes

Based on our previous reports, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max/15 Ultra models will see a price hike over the iPhone 14 Pro series. The reasons for the higher cost is due to the new premium features that are being added like the titanium frames, advanced cameras, and larger storage options. This rise would make the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro series around 100 US Dollars more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro lineup on launch.

iPhone 15 Pro Max Shipment Share

Price gap widens between the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15

This also means that the difference in cost between the base and Pro models of the 2023 iPhone lineup will also rise. According to Bloomberg’s mark Gurman, the iPhone 15 series will continue to drive Apple’s revenue growth thanks to the price rising on the popular iPhone Pro models. For those unaware, the higher-end variants are typically the most popular iPhones sold, while the base and Plus variants didn’t sell just as well.

So the Cupertino based giant knows what its customers are buying. In other words, adding more premium features and raising the cost will help boost its revenue. Gurman adds that the upgrades are also arriving to help justify the near 200 to 300 US Dollar price difference between the vanilla and Pro versions of the iPhone 15. The iPhone 15 series is set to launch tomorrow (12th September 2023), so you can check out our iPhone 15 Pro series rumor roundup by clicking here.

Galaxy Smart Ring tipped to take center stage at Samsung’s S24 event in January

According to popular leakster Ice Universe, Samsung is reportedly gearing up for its S24 event in January next year, with the spotlight likely to be on the Galaxy Ring, a smart ring that has been in advanced development since August.

Some sources speculate a release this year, while others believe it might be in 2024 due to development stages and the time needed for medical certifications.

Galaxy Smart Ring leak

There are varying reports on the launch of the smart ring but this information is sourced from the reliable leaker Ice Universe, adding credibility to the news.

Health and Connectivity: ECG, PPG Sensors, and Wireless Integration

The ring is expected to be named Samsung Curio. Although Samsung has not officially confirmed it, a trademark application for “Samsung Curio” hints at this being the product’s name.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is poised to enter the smart ring market with a compact design. Though initial reports hinted at a display screen, patent information doesn’t corroborate this feature.

However, the device is anticipated to sport ECG and PPG sensors for heart rate and temperature monitoring. Additionally, it will offer wireless connectivity for seamless interaction with Samsung’s ecosystem of smart home products.

One noteworthy aspect yet to be confirmed is whether the Galaxy Ring supports voice control. Operating small smart devices can be challenging, even with touch interaction.

Smart rings aren’t new, but Samsung’s entry into this space is highly anticipated. The level of completion and functionality of the Galaxy Ring remains a subject of interest.

Considering the pricing of similar smart devices, Samsung‘s first foray into the smart ring market is expected to be relatively high, likely exceeding $299 or approximately 2180 yuan.

Xiaomi Launches Mijia Pulsator Washing Machine 12kg with 10 Washing Modes

Xiaomi recently launched the Mijia Pulsator Washing Machine 12kg in China. It is a follow-up to the Mijia Pulsator Washing Machine 10kg, which was released in November 2022. The two models have a similar design, build, and washing modes. Here are the specifications, features, price, and availability of the Mijia Pulsator Washing Machine 12kg.

Xiaomi Mijia Pulsator Washing Machine 12kg Specifications

The new Mijia 12kg pulsator washing machine is made of high-strength galvanized steel PCM, which makes it rust- and deformation-resistant. It has a full-size color panel and a folding glass cover, so you can check the washing progress or set the washing time.

One of its most notable features is the 10 special washing modes, which are designed to care for clothes of different materials. The washing machine can also adjust the water level according to the number of clothes.

Each washing program uses a four-layer ultra-clean water flow to clean clothes evenly without leaving any dead ends. The water flow is created by scientifically setting the rotation and stop ratio of the impeller. This process is also said to effectively reduce the wear and tear of the clothes.

The washing machine also has a two-in-one rinsing and dewatering system, which means that water intake, rinsing, and drainage are carried out simultaneously. This saves time and energy.

Apart from this, the machine uses high-pressure water jets to clean the inner and outer cylinder walls, which helps to prevent bacterial growth and remove mites. In fact, Xiaomi says it can remove mites up to 99%. This is beneficial for people with sensitive skin or allergies.

The Mijia Pulsator Washing Machine 12kg is priced starting at 999 yuan, making it an affordable option for many households. It is currently available for pre-order from JD.com.
