Fortnite users can enter the code 8526-6648-9508 to gain access to the Samsung Island, or Samsung SmartCity, in the game. Once on the virtual island, guests can interact with Samsung in-game devices and play the interactive hide-and-seek game Fun Game Quest. Each round, players must search the game globe for hidden Galaxy S23 smartphones and keep them until the round concludes.

Players can also upgrade their characteristics on the Fortnite map. They can unlock new zoom functions that allow them to see over large distances, or they can discover the hidden Nightography button, which grants them the power to see in the dark. And the Knox button adds an extra degree of security for the player.

However, Xiaomi’s new patent suggests it is planning to develop a more efficient lie detector device that utilizes pupil movements to detect when someone is not telling the truth. Here are the details.

As reported by ITHome, Xiaomi has been granted a patent for their “polygraph method, device, mobile terminal, and storage medium,” which gives the company intellectual property rights to the technology or method. The abstract of the patent describes the method designed for use on a mobile terminal. It involves a telephoto pan-tilt camera, which will be used to capture facial images and track pupil movement during the lie-detection process.

The method involves adjusting the telephoto pan-tilt camera’s shooting angle to focus on the face of the person being tested. The camera captures an image of the person’s face and tracks the movement of their pupils. The device then analyzes the pupil movement trajectory and determines if it meets a specific condition that indicates lying. The patent describes how the device can be integrated into a mobile terminal (such as a smartphone) and enable a simple and effective lie detection function that can improve the user’s experience with the device.

For the unaware, movements of the eyes and dilation of pupils can effectively be used to detect whether someone’s lying. According to a study, when a person lies, their pupils will dilate by 4% to 8% of the initial pupil diameter, and the person will also blink their eyes up to 8 times more than their initial blink rate before being asked the question. These physiological responses are potential indicators of lying.

A US aerospace start-up, Relativity Space, is preparing to launch the first-ever 3D-printed rocket into space on March 8. The Terran 1 rocket is set to be the largest 3D-printed object to attempt orbital flight, standing at 35 meters tall and made up of 85% 3D printed material. Compared to the cost of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, which can lift over 22,000 kilograms into orbit and costs around $67 million per flight, Relativity Space is charging $12 million per flight.

During the first test flight, the Terran 1 rocket will not carry any payload, and the rocket is designed to lift up to 1250 kilograms into low-Earth orbit. The company has decided to skip one last planned test of the rocket, a static fire, and go straight to launch. Although this decision increases the likelihood of an abort on their first launch attempt, the company believes that if all systems are performing as expected, it is more beneficial to launch during their next operation than to subject the vehicle to additional ground testing.

Relativity Space’s ultimate goal is to facilitate an industrial society on Mars, and while the Terran 1 is too small to make the journey, it is designed to bring small satellites into orbit. The rocket serves as a prototype for the company’s 66-meter-tall Terran R rocket, which is planned to be fully reusable, mostly 3D-printed, and able to carry up to 20,000 kilograms into orbit. In addition to launching larger satellites into orbit around Earth, the Terran R rocket will offer customers a point-to-point space freighter capable of missions between the Earth, Moon, and Mars.

According to the Relativity Space representative, Terran 1 is their development platform to get to Terran R, which they believe is the vehicle customers need to make significant advancements in space travel. The successful launch of the Terran 1 rocket is a crucial step towards Relativity Space’s ambition to facilitate an industrial society on Mars and demonstrates the potential of 3D printing technology to revolutionize space travel and make it more accessible and affordable.

Realme C55 Confirmed To Launch Soon In Europe

Realme launched the C55 smartphone in Indonesia yesterday. Now the company’s Europe CEO Francis Wong took to Twitter to confirm the smartphone’s arrival in Europe. However, the exact launch date remains a mystery. The European variant is expected to pack the same specifications as its Indonesian counterpart. 

The Realme C55 features a 6.52-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 680 nits peak brightness. It has a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout that works as an extension of the notification bar. It is called Mini Capsule and is quite similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. It is capable of showing information like low battery alerts, charging status, data consumption, and more. 

The Realme C55 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. There are two camera rings on the back panel without any module. The smartphone has a 64MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP secondary lens and there is an 8MP front-facing selfie snapper. 

Internally, the Realme C55 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G88 processor. It is offered in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage configurations. The smartphone draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 33W fast charging. It runs on Android 13 OS out of the box. 

Connectivity options on the Realme C55 include a dedicated microSD card slot, USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, 4G, and NFC. 

The Realme C55 starts at Rp 2,499,000 in Indonesia for the base variant. We can expect to learn the official launch date of the smartphone in the European markets in the coming days.

At the end of December, the Honor 80 GT made its debut in China. The smartphone was announced only in two memory configurations. Both variants have the same amount of storage (256GB) but their RAM size is different.

Now, two months later, the brand has released a 512GB storage version of the handset. This variant offers 12GB RAM.

The new 12GB + 512GB memory configuration of Honor 80 GT is priced at ¥3,299 (~$475). This version of the phone is already up for sale across multiple platforms in China.

On the other hand, the older 12GB + 256GB and 16GB + 256GB currently retail at ¥2,999 (~$430) and ¥3,299 (~$475), respectively. They were introduced at ¥3,299 (~$475) and ¥3,599 (~$515).

As per Honor‘s online store, the ¥300 discount is a limited-time deal. Therefore, we think that the price of the latest 12GB + 51GB variant may also rise to ¥3,599 (~$515) later.

As you can see, both 16GB + 255GB and 12GB + 512GB versions cost the same. It is better to choose the model with more storage over the one with more RAM.

Unfortunately, this device is limited to China. It is not known whether it will be made available in global markets.

Some of the key highlights of this product include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Chip, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, a 6.67-inch 10-bit 120Hz OLED display, a 54MP primary camera, a 4,800mAh battery, and 66W wired charging support.

Vivo is rumored to be working on a new flip phone, the Vivo X Flip, which is expected to be unveiled in China next month. The phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, just like the Vivo X Fold+, and will come with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The most exciting aspect of the phone, however, is its camera setup.

According to leaked details from reliable source Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X Flip will have a dual-camera island on its large cover display, which will be a 50MP Sony IMX866 main and a 12MP IMX663 ultra-wide. The rear cameras will bear the Zeiss branding, a feature that is shared with other Vivo flagship devices. There will also be an additional camera on the inside of the phone, though the resolution of this camera remains unknown.

In terms of the phone’s display, it will reportedly have a 6.8-inch FHD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. The aspect ratio of the phone will be more slender than the Moto Razr 2022, but not as much as the Galaxy Z Flip4. It is expected to match the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s 6.8-inch 1,080 x 2,520px (21:9) display.

The Vivo X Flip is also rumored to have a fairly large 4,400mAh battery with support for 44W fast charging, making it one of the most powerful flip phones on the market. The phone will also come with a side-mounted fingerprint reader, which is likely to be built into the power button.

The Vivo X Flip is expected to be announced in China next month, with teasers possibly being released as early as next week. As the flip foldable competition is currently sparse, many people are excited about the phone’s release. The Vivo X Fold 2, which will come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, is also expected to be announced soon.

Samsung‘s mid-range smartphone series known as the Galaxy-A series is rumored to come with new devices on March 15. So far, it is said that the Galaxy A54 and the Galaxy A34 are going to be the smartphones debuting at the event. European regions will also be getting the Galaxy A14 5G, which is already available in various other regions.

Moving on to the Galaxy A34, this device will also come in two memory and storage configurations, with the base 6GB + 128GB model costing €419, while the 8GB + 256GB model will be priced at €499.

The Galaxy A14 5G smartphones will arrive in two configurations for Europe. The base model will have 4GB RAM and 64GB storage while the higher variant will feature 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. These models will cost €249 and €299 respectively. The 4G variant of the Galaxy A14 will also debut in Europe priced at €219 for the 4GB + 64GB configuration.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G smartphone is set to launch with a 6.4-inch sAMOLED Full HD display boasting a resolution of 2340 x 1080p, and a 120Hz display that ensures smoother scrolling and gameplay. The phone is expected to be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1380 SoC, along with 8GB of RAM and storage options that go up to 256GB.

In terms of the camera setup, the device is predicted to have a primary 50MP sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP macro lens that captures detailed shots. Additionally, it is likely to sport a 32MP front-facing camera, ideal for high-quality selfies and video calls.

The phone will have a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging, and an IP67 rating that provides resistance against dust and water. It is also expected to run on Android 13 as its operating system.

The Samsung Galaxy A34 5G is expected to come with a 6.6-inch Full HD+ sAMOLED display, boasting a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC, along with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone is estimated to have a weight of 199 grams and measure 161 x 78 x 8mm.

It’s worth noting that the feature only works outside in open spaces with a clear sight of the sky and without any obstructions like trees, buildings etc. The groundbreaking feature is coming to Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, and Portugal later this month. This will make the Emergency SOS feature on the iPhone 14 series operational in 12 countries in total. 

The iPhone 14 Pro recently bagged GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards in the ‘Disruptive Device Innovation’ category for the Emergency SOS feature. It has been praised numerous times by first responders and rescue teams for saving lives of customers who have been struck in emergency situations.

According to various rumors, the iPhone 15 series is expected to follow a similar product launch strategy as the iPhone 14. While details are still uncertain, it seems that Apple is likely to stick with the same approach that worked well for them in the past. The latest Korean report suggests that the standard models in the iPhone 15 lineup (iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Plus) will not have the ProMotion and always-on display features that are exclusive to the Pro models.

The ProMotion feature, which adapts the display’s refresh rate to the content being displayed, provides a smoother and more responsive experience. This is achieved through the use of low-power display backlighting that supports refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Unfortunately, it seems that only the Pro models will have the LPTO panels required for ProMotion, while the standard models will not.

Similarly, the always-on display option, which allows the Lock Screen to stay visible without significantly impacting battery life, will also be exclusive to the Pro models due to the 1Hz refresh rate capability of the updated LPTO panels. While this may be disappointing news for some users, the standard models will still feature a more power-efficient OLED display driver chip, which could contribute to longer battery life.

There have been reports of production scale constraints that may prevent Apple from bringing LPTO panels to the entire iPhone 15 series, with the company’s supplier BOE reportedly not having the production capacity for mass shipments of LTPO displays for high-end iPhones until 2024 at the earliest. However, all iPhone 15 models are expected to feature Dynamic Island, which could provide some relief for disappointed fans.

Oppo Is the Only Brand to See Growth in TWS Earbuds Market in Q4 2022

The consumer electronics market has largely faced a negative trend back in 2022. This has even extended to the truly wireless earbuds market as well, with Oppo being the only brand to see growth in the fourth and final quarter of last year.

According to a Canalys report, the worldwide TWS shipments in Q4 2022 saw a sizeable decline of 23 percent year on year. During the last three months, the overall TWS market shipped over 79.5 million units over 104 million units in the same quarter back in 2021. This shows that consumer electronics ranging from smartphones to smartwatches and even truly wireless earbuds were impacted by the various supply chain issues and global economy seeing a decline.

During the period between October to December, Apple was still the market leader in the category despite seeing a noticeable 30 percent. Similarly, Samsung and Xiaomi also saw a drop of 24 percent and 49 percent respectively. On the other hand, Oppo was the only company to see a positive growth in this period with a rise of 11 percent year on year. Meanwhile, most other brands saw a decline.

According to Research Analyst Sherry Jin, “2023 will not be an easy year for vendors to recover. Faced with a constrained market, competition intensifies. Mainstream vendors are forced to fight for market share and strengthen differentiations to stand out, as consumers tighten their belts on spending.”

Good news for Pixel Buds Pro owners as Google has finally released the much-awaited Spatial Audio with Head Tracking update. This firmware update (version 4.30) brings in several new features such as a 5-band EQ, left and right balance control, and bug fixes, improving the previous version (3.14).

To help users understand how to use this new feature, Google has published an instructional video on its YouTube channel. However, this feature is only available on newer non-A-series Pixel devices like the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. Unfortunately, Pixel 6a owners won’t be able to access this update.

Google has also updated the Pixel Buds Help page with a guide on how to use this feature, its benefits, and the apps where it’s available. As of now, the feature is only available on HBO Max and Netflix Premium, but it’s expected to work with other streaming apps that support movies and shows with 5.1 surround sound or higher.

The Spatial Audio feature creates an immersive audio experience that makes the content sound more realistic, and with Pixel Buds Pro, it creates a multi-speaker effect, similar to a surround sound setup, making it ideal for movies and TV shows. It may take a few days for the update to be available to all Pixel Buds Pro owners.

Once the update is installed, users can easily enable the feature by going to the “Spatial Audio” section in the Pixel Buds app. From there, they can enable toggles for Spatial Audio and Head Tracking and hear the difference with the demo. You can also watch this video on the subject.

Xiaomi has launched its latest smart tower fan, the Mijia Smart DC Inverter Tower Fan 2, with a starting price of 319 yuan ($45). The fan features a slender tower design with a 0.6m ultra-long air outlet, which can support a 150° ultra-wide-angle air supply. It also includes different sweeping angles that can be adjusted via the Mijia App.

The fan offers three different modes – natural wind, direct blowing, and sleeping wind – that can be adjusted using either the Mijia App or the body buttons. As per official notes, the new Series is another way to keep the influencers and the viewers engaged on the popular short video sharing platform. The new feature will allow eligible creators to offer Collections of content that can be accessed by paying a fee. In other words, they are otherwise locked behind a paywall. Thus, dedicated followers of creators will be able to purchase Collections of content from their favorite influencers.

Notably, the popular social media brand has also added that it won’t take a cut out of the profits made by creators as a step to inspire more creators to use this new feature. Although, this will only be applicable for a limited time. Furthermore, a Collection of content can consist of up to 80 videos and each of these can be up to 20 minutes long as well. Unfortunately, it is unclear how long this limited time period will last.

The new Series features arrives after the platform was faced by backlash from its creators over the income they received from the platform. Thus, TikTok is now recognizing this feedback and working on helping influencers by offering them additional methods of earning extra income directly from their followers.

The Redmi K60E was announced alongside the Redmi K60 and Redmi K60 Pro in late December. It is the most affordable model in the lineup. Also, it is the only one powered by a MediaTek chipset.

Just over two months after its release, Redmi is offering a limited-time discount on this device. The price of all the memory configurations has been reduced by ¥200. As a result, the phone now starts at only ¥1,999 (~$285).

The Redmi K60E is now retailing at the following price tags in China.

  • 8GB + 128GB – ¥1,999 (~$285)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥2,199 (~$315)
  • 12GB + 256GB – ¥2,399 (~$345)
  • 12GB + 512GB – ¥2,599 (~$375)

This deal will end on March 15. In other words, interested customers have a week to make use of the offer.

The Redmi K60E is one of the best mid-range smartphones in the world. Its primary highlights include a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, a 6.67-inch 120Hz QHD+ AMOLED display, an OIS-assisted 48MP primary camera, a 5,500mAh battery, and 67W fast charging support.

Unfortunately, the handset is limited to China. There are no plans by Xiaomi to release it in other countries.

However, the Redmi K60 is heading to international markets as Poco F5 Pro. This phone shares most of its specs with the Redmi K60E. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip.

Currently, it’s not known when the Poco F5 Pro will go official. We are looking forward to official teasers from Poco.

Similar to the Mate 50 series, the P60 models are rumoured to include Huawei’s own XMAGE photography technology. The Redmi A2 is said to be equipped with a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, featuring an octa-core CPU that operates on a 12nm process. With a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz, this SoC is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, with the possibility of expanding the storage up to 512GB by using a microSD card.

The phone’s display, measuring 6.52 inches, uses IPS LCD technology and is expected to deliver an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The absence of a rear fingerprint scanner may indicate that this feature is exclusive to the A2+ model. Instead, the phone’s back is adorned with an 8MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor, while the front camera boasts 5MP and will be responsible for selfies and video calls.

The Redmi A2 is fitted with a massive 5000mAh battery that supports 10W charging in Europe. The phone features a single speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack and comes with the latest Android 13 (Go Edition) update pre-installed. The phone also has a dual SIM slot, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2.4GHz WiFi for seamless connectivity.

OnePlus Buds Pro 2R Pre-orders Now Live in India

Back in February, OnePlus had announced the new Buds Pro 2R alongside its flagship hearable model, the Buds Pro 2, in the Indian market. And now, the company has finally made the new hearable available for pre-orders.

For those unaware, the Chinese smartphone maker had first unveiled this new truly wireless earbuds as a more affordable variant of the Buds Pro 2 model. Earlier this week, the brand even announced these earbuds in the Chinese market as the Buds Pro 2 Lite. The primary difference between the Buds Pro 2 and the Buds Pro 2R is just the lack of some features. The latter basically lacks the former’s head tracking and wireless charging.

Apart from this, the two models are basically identical. It also houses a dual driver setup that consists of an 11mm and 6mm drivers, adaptive active noise cancellation up to 48dB, transparency mode, LHDC 5.0 audio codec, and 54ms low latency mode for gaming. The Buds Pro 2R supports Bluetooth 5.2 and offers 39 hours of battery life with the charging case. While it doesn’t support head tracking, it still supports spatial audio.

OnePlus

The new OnePlus Buds Pro 2R arrives in two color options, Obsidian Black and Misty White, and will be available for pre-orders starting today. It has a price tag of 9,999 INR, with the pre-orders live from March 7 to March 13 on Amazon and the company’s official website. The official sale will begin starting from March 14. Buyers can avail a 500 INR discount on the Buds Pro 2R on ICICI Bank Credit cards and purchases from EMI transactions.

Samsung debuted the Galaxy M14 5G a few hours back in Ukraine. This budget 5G smartphone is a tweaked version of the Galaxy A14 5G.

Now, another version of this phone called Galaxy F14 5G has been spotted on Google Play Console. This is not the first time we are hearing about it as it had already been certified by BIS in December.

As per the listing on Google Play Console, the upcoming Galaxy F14 5G will be powered by an Exynos 1330 chipset. It will boot Android 13 and the variant that got certified has 6GB RAM.

The device will sport an FHD+ (2408 x 1080 pixels) display. A small image of the handset reveals that its screen will have a dewdrop notch.

It appears that the Galaxy F14 5G could be identical to the Galaxy M14 5G. The Galaxy F series phones are usually sold via Flipkart in India. Therefore, the F14 5G should debut in this country first.

The M14 5G is also expected to release in India. This smartphone has been also certified by BIS. It even has a support page on Samsung India’s website suggesting an imminent launch.

Going by the reports so far, the Galaxy F14 5G will likely arrive with a 6.6-inch FHD+ 90Hz display (LCD), Exynos 1330 SoC, One UI Core 5 based on Android 13, a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP front-facing camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a MicroSD card slot, a 6,000mAh battery, and 25 charging support.

We expect Samsung India to start teasing the arrival of this product very soon.
