One UI 8’s Dynamic Wallpaper glitch is finally getting fixed

If the colorful shifting wallpaper you loved on One UI 8 suddenly stopped… yeah, that wasn’t your phone being weird. A lot of Galaxy users saw the same thing — and Samsung has finally slipped out a fix.

Dynamic wallpapers were supposed to be one of the fun visual upgrades in One UI 8: a smooth color shift over time that keeps your home and lock screens feeling alive. But once the update landed on more phones, reports started popping up that the colors had frozen completely. Some devices even ditched the animation altogether and fell back to a flat rainbow gradient. Not exactly the intended effect.

Samsung did admit there was a problem and said a patch would be coming, and it’s finally here — not as a full system update, but through Samsung’s Wallpaper and Style app, which is what actually handles live wallpapers and other customization features behind the scenes. According to posts on Samsung’s Community forums, the update specifically tackles the bug that caused animations to stall.

The rollout started in Korea through the Galaxy Store, which is usually a sign that other regions won’t be far behind. If you want to check manually, open the Galaxy Store → tap the menu button in the top-left → Updates. If “Wallpaper and Style” is listed, update it, and the wallpaper should get its motion back.

It’s a small fix, but for anyone who liked the subtle flair those shifting colors brought to the UI, it’s a welcome one. One UI 8 gets a little closer to what Samsung promised — and your wallpaper should finally look alive again.

Amazfit has a new smartwatch on the way — but what is it?

A new Amazfit smartwatch might be closer than anyone expected. A device from Zepp Health has quietly popped up in Malaysia’s SIRIM certification database, and while the listing is light on details, these filings usually show up only when a product is getting close to launch.

The model number is a plain and cryptic A2557, described only as a “Smart Watch” and certified on November 25. No product photos, no specs, no obvious hints — just the kind of barebones paperwork that tends to surface a few weeks before Amazfit puts out a press release.

If history is anything to go by, we won’t be waiting long. The Active 2 lineup, the Bip 6, the Balance 2, and even the latest T-Rex 3 Pro all went through SIRIM first, typically about a month before they actually hit stores. That track record creates a pretty reasonable timeline: late 2025 at the earliest, maybe early 2026 if things move slowly.

The big question is what family this mystery watch belongs to. Amazfit has been pumping out releases this year, but a few lines have been suspiciously quiet. The rugged Falcon and Cheetah series, for example, haven’t had updates in a while — and fans of those product lines have been hoping for fresh hardware. On the flip side, Zepp Health could be prepping something entirely new to slot into its expanding lineup.

For now, all we know is that another Amazfit wearable is officially in the pipeline — and companies don’t usually certify products just for fun. With the way this year has gone, it’s clear Amazfit isn’t planning to slow down any time soon.

Bottom line: a new smartwatch is coming — we just don’t know what kind yet. But half the fun is guessing, right?

Honor Magic8 Ultra pops up in certification with satellite support and 120W charging

It looks like Honor is getting very close to unveiling its next top-tier flagship. A new Honor device has appeared on China’s 3C certification website under the model number BKQ-AN20, and the listing describes it as a “satellite mobile terminal (5G).” It also shows support for 120W fast charging. The model number has already been linked to the upcoming Magic8 Ultra in recent leaks.

Honor Magic 7 RSR Porsche Design
Honor Magic 7 RSR Porsche Design

Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station claims the phone is only the second Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered model to clear China’s network approvals. Like other recent premium Chinese flagships, it should support Tiantong satellite communication, allowing calls and texts to go through even when there’s zero cellular coverage.

DCS also mentioned that the main camera development remains the biggest factor determining when the phone will actually launch. The Magic8 Ultra is expected to feature the OmniVision OV50R LOFIC sensor, and Honor is reportedly pushing hard to get the hardware and image tuning ready in time to go head-to-head with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. As for the recent spike in storage and memory prices, he noted that higher-capacity variants of this device shouldn’t see massive increases — at least for now.

Another Chinese tipster, Smart Pikachu (Yes, that’s the name as translated from Chinese), chimed in too. According to that leak, the 120W fast charging system could power a 7,000 mAh battery. That’s a notable jump—last year’s Magic7 RSR topped out at 5,850 mAh.

As IT Home pointed out, tipster Smart Pikachu directly used the hashtag #HonorMagic8Ultra in the Weibo leak — a pretty strong clue that this is indeed the product name.

Right now, the Magic8 lineup includes the standard Magic8 and Magic8 Pro, both running the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The regular model pairs a 50MP main camera with a 64MP, 3x periscope, while the Pro bumps things up with a slightly larger main sensor and a 200MP telephoto.

With satellite messaging, aggressive charging speeds, a much larger battery than its predecessor, and a camera setup aimed directly at the ultra-premium segment, the Magic8 Ultra has all the makings of Honor’s most ambitious phone yet. The 3C certification suggests a launch isn’t far off — now it’s just a matter of when Honor decides to take the wraps off.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 gets official, targets premium non-Elite devices

Qualcomm has released a new mobile processor that broadens its high-end silicon lineup. This chipset fits just underneath the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship platform, carrying strong performance and updated AI abilities for premium phones that start at lower prices. The chip will be first seen on the OnePlus 15R / OnePlus Ace 6T, followed by models from brands such as Motorola, iQOO, and Vivo.

Major hardware upgrades and smart on-device AI

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is manufactured using advanced 3nm fabrication, aligning it with contemporary efficiency and power expectations for 2025 devices. At its core is Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU cluster with two primary cores reaching 3.8 GHz and six high-performance cores capable of 3.32 GHz.

Compared to the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, Qualcomm suggests substantial leaps in computational workloads, quicker web interactions, and smoother multi-tasking for heavy applications. The graphics engine is based on a modern sliced Adreno 840 GPU design but omits high-performance memory enhancements, allowing it to still deliver gaming stability with lower power overhead.

The updated Hexagon NPU and AI stack improve local inference, encrypted generative model handling, multi-modal inputs, and agent-assisted suggestions via the always-listening sensor hub without relying on cloud processing. This helps phones identify when a user is preparing to issue voice commands just by lifting the device.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

The chip supports 5G download rates near 10 Gbps (network-dependent), with both mmWave and sub-6GHz carrier aggregation and the same modem architecture previously used in premium chip generations.

Camera support extends to triple 20-bit AI-assisted pipelines, large photo capture, 8K playback, 4K recording at high frame rates, and modern HDR formats. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 with low-latency spatial audio, dual antenna pairing, UWB, and NavIC for precise positioning even in dense urban zones.

RAM prices are suddenly out of control — 64GB DDR5 now costs more than a PS5

If you were thinking about upgrading your gaming PC with a chunky 64GB of DDR5 RAM, you might want to sit down first. Memory prices have shot up so fast in the past couple of months that a top-tier RAM kit can now cost more than a brand-new PlayStation 5. It’s gotten bad enough that Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney is publicly sounding the alarm, calling the trend “a real problem for high-end gaming in the coming years.”

Just look at the numbers. Back in mid-October, a 64GB Crucial Pro DDR5-6000 kit could be picked up for around $260. By Black Friday? About $498. No special sale, no limited stock — that’s just the new price. G.Skill’s popular Trident Z5 Neo RGB 64GB DDR5-6000 kit has seen an even wilder swing: it hit a low of $220 on September 20, and now Newegg lists it for $599, and that’s after a $40 discount.

What’s driving this? It’s mostly the fault of the booming AI industry. Memory suppliers like Samsung and SK hynix have shifted their most advanced manufacturing capacity toward lucrative AI data-center orders — customers who will happily pay much more than gamers ever would. That leaves consumers fighting over whatever capacity is left, pushing prices higher week after week.

And it’s not only RAM feeling the squeeze. Storage is next in line. High-capacity SSDs, HDDs, and even microSD cards are seeing higher price floors and fewer deals, as the same chip fabs try to keep up with datacenter demand.

Some analysts like to suggest an AI bubble could eventually pop and correct things. Sweeney doesn’t sound like he’s counting on that anytime soon. His warning focuses on the next few years — a long stretch where high-end PC gaming might get significantly more expensive simply because memory chip production is shifting away from consumer hardware and toward HBM, which powers AI training and inference.

So if you were planning to grab a big RAM kit to future-proof your rig, the unfortunate reality right now is this: you’re paying PS5 money for a pair of sticks.

Huawei’s new 66W, 12,000mAh power bank packs a built-in cable and has a slim design

Huawei has launched a new power bank in China that tries to solve one of the most annoying charging problems: forgetting your cable. The company’s new All-in-One Power Bank (66W, 12,000 mAh) has a USB-C cable permanently attached to the side, plus a second USB-C port if you want to charge another device at the same time.

The headline feature is compatibility. The power bank supports 66W two-way fast charging and works with Huawei SuperCharge, UFCS (Universal Fast Charging Specification) as well as standard PD, PPS, and QC protocols. Huawei says a Mate 70 can go from nearly empty to 84% in around 30 minutes, which is pretty solid for something this portable.

The fixed cable itself is reinforced and rated to survive 10,000 bends. The battery inside is 12,000 mAh, and if you plug the power bank into a 66W charger, it should refill in roughly 110 minutes. The whole thing weighs 236 grams and is only 15.6 mm thick, which means it’s more pocket-friendly than some of the thicker bricks on the market.

One perk designed for Huawei phone owners: HarmonyOS devices can show the power bank’s remaining battery directly on the phone’s screen while charging. For everyone else, it’s a standard LED indicator experience. Huawei is selling the power bank in black and white finishes.

Pricing and availability:

Pricing lands at CNY 329 (about $46), making it competitively priced in its home market. There’s no mention of a global launch yet.

For Huawei fans who want fast charging without cable clutter, this looks like a clean and practical upgrade that won’t take up much space in a bag or pocket.

Xiaomi’s new Robot Vacuum S40 Pro has a wild extending mop and 15,000 Pa suction

Xiaomi has quietly dropped a new robot vacuum in Europe — the Robot Vacuum S40 Pro — and it’s a pretty noticeable upgrade over the regular S40 that debuted only a few weeks ago. Think of it as the model for people who want something close to flagship cleaning power without going all-in on the highest-end pricing.

The big stat Xiaomi is leaning on is suction power: the S40 Pro hits 15,000 Pa, which is a hefty bump from the 10,000 Pa on the standard S40. It still uses a central roller brush designed to avoid hair tangles and has a side brush to clean along edges, but things get more interesting when mopping enters the chat.

Instead of a basic wipe-style mop, the S40 Pro uses two spinning mop pads that can crank at up to 180 rpm. One of those pads sits on a mechanical arm that extends to reach corners and wall edges — areas most robot vacuums awkwardly ignore. And if you’ve got carpets, the mop automatically lifts itself so your rugs don’t end up soggy. Three adjustable water flow levels let you fine-tune how aggressively it cleans.

Navigation is handled by an LDS laser system plus a structured-light sensor for spotting obstacles over a wide 129° field. Xiaomi says the vacuum can handle roughly 180m² (around 1,938 sq. ft.) of floor space per charge, which should cover most apartments and small houses in a single run. Like usual, everything is controlled through the Xiaomi Home app — maps, scheduling, cleaning zones, the lot — and voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant are supported too.

Pricing and availability:

Xiaomi is rolling out the S40 Pro across Europe right away. In the Netherlands, it’s listed at €279, while Spain, France, and Germany show €299.99. The UK gets it for £259.99.

All told, the S40 Pro looks like a solid value play: bigger suction numbers, a smarter mop system, and an eye-catching price to rattle the competition in Europe’s already crowded robot cleaner market.

What’s so special about Huawei’s latest foldable Mate X7?

Huawei is pushing the limits of foldable smartphone design with the launch of the Mate X7. This premium foldable device refines nearly every aspect of its predecessor, the Mate X6, while introducing new technologies in display, materials, performance, and connectivity.

Built on Huawei’s proprietary hardware-software ecosystem, the Mate X7 is not only durable but feature-packed, with serious upgrades in imaging, display brightness, and off-grid communication.

Huawei-Mate-X7

1. Bright and Responsive Displays

The Mate X7 features two OLED screens built for clarity, brightness, and fluidity. The outer 6.49-inch panel pushes peak brightness to 3000 nits, while the foldable 8-inch display hits 2500 nits.

Both support LTPO adaptive refresh from 1 Hz to 120 Hz and use 1440Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. The screens support the P3 color gamut and display over 1 billion colors, with Huawei’s COE ultra-transparent pixel tech helping reduce power usage by up to 25%.

Touch response is also optimized. The outer screen reaches a 300Hz sampling rate, while the inner screen supports 240Hz. Both panels deliver an immersive and responsive experience, whether the phone is folded or unfolded.

2. Strong Build and Durability

The Mate X7 is built around Huawei’s Xuanwu folding architecture, using a tri-layer composite structure for the inner screen that includes non-Newtonian materials, UTG glass, and a carbon-fiber base. Huawei claims a 100% improvement in bending durability and 20% more impact resistance compared to its predecessor.

The outer screen is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass, and the Collector’s Edition upgrades this to Xuanwu-tempered Kunlun Glass. The entire device carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance, including protection against high-pressure water jets.

3. Hardware and Performance

Huawei equips the Mate X7 with the Kirin 9030 Pro processor, paired with up to 20GB RAM and 1TB storage on the top Collector’s Edition variant. HarmonyOS 6 powers the software side, unlocking features like AI-enhanced multitasking, document comparison, intelligent note-taking, and dynamic reading enhancements optimized for the foldable form factor.

The Mate X7 features a graphene-based cooling system with a 3550 mm² vapor chamber and ultra-conductive 2000W/m·K graphene layers to manage thermals during intensive use.

Battery life holds up well, though it doesn’t aim for any jaw-dropping numbers. The Collector’s Edition uses a 5600mAh battery, while the standard model includes a 5525mAh unit. Both support 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and a 10-day extreme outdoor standby mode.

4. Connectivity Features

Huawei focuses heavily on remote communication. The Mate X7 supports Beidou satellite messaging, while the Collector’s Edition also includes Tiantong satellite calling. The phone includes Huawei’s 5A networking system that improves connectivity in weak-signal areas, and it also supports emergency off-grid communication through China Broadcasting.

For connectivity, the device includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC and L2HC, USB-C 3.1 Gen1 with DP output, NFC, and full-band GNSS including NavIC, QZSS, and GALILEO.

5. Cameras

The Mate X7 debuts Huawei’s second-generation Red Maple Imaging system. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with a ten-stop variable aperture, a 40MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP 3.5x telephoto macro lens. The system supports OIS, RAW capture, up to 100x zoom, and 4K HDR video. Huawei claims the new imaging system achieves flagship-level results in a compact module optimized for the foldable design.

The Collector’s Edition makes bolder claims, stating its 1/1.28-inch main sensor collects 100% more light than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, while the periscope lens pulls in 127% more light. Both front screens feature 8MP cameras capable of 4K video.

6. Price and Availability

Huawei has priced the Mate X7 aggressively in the ultra-premium foldable segment. The base 12GB + 256GB model starts at 12,999 yuan (~$1,830), while the Collector’s Edition with stylus support and 20GB + 1TB configuration reaches 17,599 yuan (~$2,475).

All variants support the same durability ratings and display technologies, with added perks like M-Pen 3 stylus compatibility exclusive to the higher-end models.

The new AirDresser refreshes garments without putting them through full washing cycles. Its Dual AirWash system sends targeted airflows from two sides, clearing fine dust and neutralizing almost all everyday smells from fabrics. The Dual JetSteam setup releases high-temperature steam streams from two directions, disinfecting clothes while reducing crumples naturally.

The hangers are engineered to move air inside and outside the clothing, improving the depth of cleaning and smoothing results without aggressive heat exposure or detergents. A dedicated long-dress section allows extra space for coats, robes, long gowns, and layered traditional outfits.

The device also syncs with the SmartThings app, enabling care suggestions and reminders for routine filter and tank maintenance. It focuses on preserving fragile clothing, including silk sarees, chiffon layers, wool blends such as cashmere or merino, and formal jackets used often in professional wardrobes.

The appliance is available in select Samsung offline retail locations: the brand hub in BKC, Mumbai and the Samsung storefront at Opera House in Bengaluru. It can also be ordered on Samsung Shop app. The standard retail cost is Rs 1,56,990, while early launch pricing temporarily drops to Rs 1,30,490.
