OPPO F19s renders, specs, price leaked ahead of launch

In late August, OPPO F19s was tipped to launch in India ahead of the upcoming festive season in the country. A few weeks later, specs, price, and low-quality renders of this smartphone have now emerged on the internet. Let’s check out what this new OPPO handset has to offer.

The information about the forthcoming OPPO F19s comes from tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore. The low-resolution shared by him on Twitter showcases the phone’s design. Additionally, he also reveals the specs and price of this handset.

As per the leaker, the OPPO F19s will be available in two colors, namely Glowing Black and Glowing Gold. Other than that, the device will have exact same design as well as specifications of the vanilla OPPO F19 from earlier this year.

It is not surprising to learn that the OPPO F19s will be similar to the OPPO F19 (review). Because it was reported to launch as a special edition of the already available phone. Perhaps, OPPO could have kept the same name and added some special edition buzzword like last year’s OPPO F17 Pro Diwali Edition to avoid confusion.

OPPO F19

As far as price is concerned, Sudhanshu says that the OPPO F19s in a single 6GB + 128GB storage configuration could debut at around ₹19,000-₹20,000. This means it will cost as much as the OPPO F19, which currently retails at ₹18,990 for the same memory variant.

Last but not least, according to the tipster, the smartphone will launch by the end of September.

Oppo may be working on Reno series phone with multi-directional camera: Patent

Oppo might be working on a new Reno series of smartphone that features a unique camera system. The company has recently filed a patent for a handset that sports a multi directional camera module.

Oppo

According to a LetsGoDigital report, the Chinese smartphone maker has filed a patent with a WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) that was approved earlier this week. The patent describes a handset that houses a unique camera module that is capable of taking images from the side of the device as well. Looking at the design sketches seen in the patent, the smartphone will feature a rear facing camera, which is the norm but with a mechanism that lets its primary sensor to also take images from the side as well.

To take images from the side, the company has a cut out on one side of the device, which will allow the primary lens to basically shift its focus to the side through the use of a mirror. In other words, the sensor itself does not move nor does the phone require an additional sensor that is aligned to the side. One practical application of this type of camera system is that the primary could automatically detect when a particular subject is moving outside of the frame and to the right. So the user won’t have to worry about the subject going out of frame since the side cut out would boost its field of view.

Oppo

As of right now, it is unclear if Oppo is actually working on such a product or is just covering all bases. Furthermore, the device with such a unique camera system is likely to be a higher end model, so it could be a part of the Reno series. Although, this is just speculation at the moment, so take it with a pinch of salt and stay with us for more updates regarding this matter.

Microsoft Office 2021 launch date set for October 5

Microsoft Office’s next-gen version is launching for commercial customers today. The Redmond-based company has also promised an October 5 release date for the consumer release of Office 2021.

Microsoft has also made the Microsoft Office Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) for Windows and macOS available to the general public. For the uninitiated, it is an enterprise-focused version of Office 2021 that is offered to volume-licensed commercial and government clients.

microsoft-office-365

The special long-term support version is best suited for businesses where processes and apps can’t change on a monthly basis, or regulated industries. It doesn’t ship with the various bleeding-edge AI and cloud-powered features that are found on Microsoft 365 and won’t be receiving any new features either. Microsoft will be committed to supporting Office LTSC for five years and will be releasing another perpetual version of Office in the future.

The consumer version of the Office 2021 perpetual release will be very similar and will offer a locked-in release time without feature updates as well. Microsoft has listed multiple additions to Office LTSC that should also apply to Office 2021. These include Line Focus that’s basically a reading mode, XLOOKUP function for finding things in a table, Dynamic array support, and of course, dark mode support across all Office apps.

Pricing details about Microsoft Office 2021 have not been announced at this moment. Although, Microsoft recently announced its first price hike for both Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft 365 that will be going into effect in March 2022.

The October 5 launch date coincides with the Windows 11 release – Microsoft’s next-gen operating system for PC. The OS will be bringing a number of interface changes at both the system as well as the app levels and will also provide Android apps support, although the latter will not be making it to the initial release.

Xiaomi patents Earthquake Monitoring tech for ‘mobile devices’

Earlier today (17th September 2021), Xiaomi published a new patent for an interesting form of technology. The patent was titled “Method and Equipment for Realizing Seismic Monitoring of Mobile Devices.

Xiaomi Earthquake
Xiaomi previously integrated an early warning system in MIUI for earthquakes

The Chinese tech giant’s application has a patent number CN113406696A and describes a method or system that is capable of reading/monitoring seismic activity from a mobile equipment. In other words, this technology would be used in detecting earthquakes. Furthermore, the ‘mobile device’ in question would transfer key data obtained to send it to an earthquake processing center. So, it is clear that the equipment will belong to the technical field of seismic monitoring and, in some form or manner, also be related to disaster prevention as well.

The patent even describes this entire process and its functioning. It would seek to standardize the virtual seismic sensor and designate the register regions with seismic activity on a map. The system would also permit the underlying processor to identify and predict possible earthquake events based on multiple readings. These readings are through this virtual seismic sensor that also transmits the data to seismic processing centers.

mi logo

In terms of applications, this could mean Xiaomi would be able to create a early warning system from mobile devices, which might even include smartphones with sensitive enough sensors in the future, although, that is highly unlikely. Notably, this technology is somewhat similar to the early warning system that the company integrated with MIUI that functions based on AI algorithms.

Realme Pad Review: Impressive Design and Excellent Built Quality

In the past two months, we’ve managed to get our hands on most tablets that were released in 2021. Most of them have renewed our imagination as to what an Android tablet can do. However, many of them are targeted at the premium market. We also received quite a lot of questions from our audiences, mainly asking about options in the budget market. Indeed, many consumers only require basic performance and good audiovisual entertainment on a tablet, instead of focusing too much on excellent productivity at a much higher price.

Moreover, the market also showed us the truth that the best-selling products in these 2 years are those models priced under $300.

So today we have a wonderful option for you guys, the latest Realme Pad, which is a true budget tablet, meeting almost all the basic needs that we mentioned above. In fact, it’s also the most impressive budget tablet that we’ve ever seen in the past few years.

Realme Pad Review: Design & Screen

Let’s start with its design.

Realme Pad Review design featured

When we first got our hands on the tablet, we were immediately confused as to why this budget tablet features such a good design.

Realme Pad Review design featured 1

Take a look at this gold version that we have in our hands. The excellent build quality of the metal body feels even better than all the premium tablets that we reviewed in these few months. And thanks to the ultra-thin and light body, it’s even comfortable when holding it with one hand. Apart from the gold variant, the tablet also comes in a grey version.

Realme Pad Review Cameras

The tablet sports a single camera on both, the front and rear. Both of them come with 8MP resolution and support up to 1080P video recording or video calling.

Realme Pad Review DUAL SIM MicroSDOne of the greatest features of the tablet is the integrated SIM-Card slot on the frame, which not only supports dual-Sim-card standby for LTE Network but also allows users to have one of them for storage extension with a MicroSD card. These features are not present in most standard versions of premium tablets.

Realme Pad Review Screen 3

The Realme Pad sports a 10.4-inch display that offers a resolution of 2000×1200 pixels. But unlike the reports which said it would have an AMOLED display, the tablet actually features an LCD panel. Although the lack of a high refresh rate doesn’t make it as smooth as those premium models released in 2021, considering the budget pricing, it actually won’t be an issue, especially if you are going to use the tablet for basic purposes. Apart from that, this display looks pretty good, thanks to the comfortable colors and good detail when watching videos or movies.

But please note that it doesn’t support HDR colors, so basically it would display only in SDR mode. However, as a budget tablet, we still are of the opinion that the display is already good enough for basic visual use.

Realme Pad Review Bezels

To deliver good audiovisual performance, the tablet also features a 3.5mm earphone jack and 4 speakers for Dolby Atmos with supports for DTS HD solution. For music, it also supports Hi-Res audio to present stunning music with a high sampling rate.

And you can also adjust the Dolby sound effects in the settings menu to adapt to different scenarios. During our limited experience, although it didn’t compare to the premium models, we have to say that the sound was much better than most budget tablets. Anyway, you can just check it here.

Realme Pad Review: Performance & Gaming

Realme Pad Review Helio G90 chip

As for performance, the Realme Pad is fueled by the MTK Helio G80 chipset. To be honest, it won’t be a good option if you’re going to play heavy games on tablets. And the 4GB ram also doesn’t make it suitable for multitasking. But for light entertainment, you can still trust the tablet running on the Android 11 platform. There are no obvious issues with application support, however, there’s no significant optimization for Pad mode use either. In benchmarks, the results are slightly better than other models with G80 Chipset.

Realme Pad Review PUBG

Anyway, let’s test its actual gaming. First, we ran PUBG Mobile on the Realme Pad. The game stably ran at 40fps under the balanced graphic setting.

Realme Pad Review 07 Gaming

And then we played the new Harry Porter game, which, as of now, is only available in China. Well, it seems that the tablet had no stress when playing the game. Even in Genshin Impact, the tablet also could achieve a relatively smooth frame rate under low graphics.

We think, overall, although it’s not made for high-performance gaming, the tablet is still able to handle most games under low graphics at least.

Realme Pad Review: Software

Realme Pad Review Reading

As for software, the Realme Pad didn’t have a lot of optimization for the tablet. But the Realme Pad is still one of the very few affordable tablets that run the latest Android 11 OS. And Realme also continues the excellent software stability from their phone products on the new tab. At least the system feels pretty smooth, although its 60Hz display is a bit of a drawback. And there’s no optimization for those phone apps that don’t support the horizontal view, so these apps are forced to display vertically.

Realme Pad Review 06 Display

Battery & Charging

Realme Pad Review Charging speed

As for battery and charging, the tablet has a 7000mAh battery with 18W charging efficiency. With the power-saving chipset, actually, the budget tablet has a pretty long battery life. In our battery life test, its result is even better than some premium tablets with larger batteries. And the full charge test took us around 2 hours, which is not so fast. But on tablets, longer battery life is more important, which guarantees the device can last for more than an entire day of use. Most users may only charge it once at night when going to bed. So basically, slow charging shouldn’t affect your daily use.

Realme Pad Review Battery Life

Realme Pad Review: Verdict

During the limited experience we had, the Realme Pad actually performs well as a budget tablet. Since we didn’t expect much on such a basic device, it actually became one of the useful devices at our office. For example, thanks to its lightweight and compact body, we enjoyed using it as a monitor to check video footage. And it also became an affordable device for our video meetings.

Realme Pad Review Screen 2Moreover, it also reminds me of educational uses, such as online classes or online study. Some parents may still be looking for a reliable tablet with a bigger screen for their kids’ study, and if you are one of them, the Realme Pad could be the best affordable option for you.

The reason why we like this tablet is simple. Indeed, the market needs premium devices to fulfill the imagination of those users who can afford the price, while for those who don’t really need premium performance, options like the Realme Pad are still very important.

So what do you think of this Affordable tablet? Leave your thoughts down below and let us know whether you are going to buy a budget tablet anytime soon?

Redmi G 2021 gaming laptop to sport a 16.1-inch 144Hz display across all variants

Xiaomi is gearing to launch a new gaming laptop under its Redmi G series called Redmi G 2021. It will be the second iteration and Xiaomi says that it will offer ‘invincible high-performance’ to gamers.

And now, the official Weibo account of Xiaomi Notebook has revealed that all variants of the Redmi G 2021 laptops will be equipped with a larger-than-usual 16.1-inch super-smooth 144Hz gaming display.

redmi-g-2021-display-teaser

However, it is worth mentioning here that since the previous generation too had the same display specs, this is hardly a surprise. What remains to be seen is whether other specifications like for say, the peak brightness, will be upgraded.

Previously, Xiaomi had teased that all Redmi G 2021 gaming laptops will be coming with an ‘independent display direct connection’. Other known specs include the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H mobile processor paired with the NVIDIA RTX 3060 processor. According to the company, the Redmi G 2021 with RTX 3060 can achieve a full power consumption of 130W. Of course, coming with an RTX GPU also means that it will be supporting ray tracing for improved visuals in supported games.

There is also a new cooling system dubbed “Hurricane Cooling 3.0” that will include dual 12V large fans, five all-copper heat pipes, and four air outlet configurations.

Redmi G Gaming Laptop Featured
Redmi G Gaming Laptop 2020

Lastly, a pre-sale page of the Redmi G 2021 had earlier shown that the laptop also comes with an Intel processor version.

The release date for the Redmi G 2021 was revealed with its very first official teaser a few days ago. The said date is only a few days away – September 22.

The laptop is expected to be priced higher than its previous generation that was released in August 2020. This is because it has been implied by Xiaomi as being a ‘high-end product’ that aims to offer ‘invincible’ performance. This makes sense considering that the older model came with a mid-range GTX 1650 Ti processor while the Redmi G 2021 is coming with a high-end RTX supporting GPU.

Google Pixel Fold to launch later this year, as per new leak

Google’s first foldable phone has been rumored to be under development for years now. First tipped by a blogger back in 2019, the phone that now has a name – Google Pixel Fold – has inched closer to an actual launch than ever before.

A fresh new leak from David Naranjo (via: GSMArena), Senior Director at Display Supply Chain Consultants, has revealed a possible Q4 2021 launch date for the Google Pixel Fold. It also suggests that the device will use an LTPO OLED display.

Based on previous leaks that showed the device’s blueprint, one can assume that it will be sporting a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold series – an outward folding design with a cylindrical hinge at the center. However, the leak was from a patent that was filed back in July 2020. Patents are only potential designs and are thus not to be taken as an indication for the final product.

Further, there was also a leaked list from earlier this year that mentioned a GPQ72 model number and a “Passport” codename, which was touted by many as being none other than the Google Pixel Fold. After all, the Passport codename for a foldable device does make sense. On top of that, a more recent report coming from Korea had claimed that Samsung will be supplying its ultra-thin glass (UTG) to Google for the Pixel Fold.

Last but not the least, a patent application from Google showed us that the company is working on an under-screen camera. This is rumored to debut in the foldable phone.

Google is expected to launch its Pixel 6 series on October 19, after releasing Android 12 stable, and has already shown what the devices will look like. However, there hasn’t been any announcement concerning a foldable device, leading some to believe that it could be announced at the Pixel 6 event.

Meizu mblu Blus TWS earphones launched with ANC & 30 hour battery life

Meizu has scheduled a launch event for September 22 in China. The company is expected to announce a number of smartphones and much more. Ahead of that, the firm’s recently resurrected mblu has launched a new pair of truly wireless earphones called mblu Blus. Interestingly, this new product does not come under mblu’s own sub-brand lifeme.

Meizu mblu Blus TWS Truly Wireless Earphones Featured A

Meizu mblu Blus Specifications and Features

Unlike most TWS in the market, the Meizu mblu Blus features a unique design. However, we can still say that the buds resemble Apple AirPods Pro, while the charging case looks similar to the case of the newer Galaxy Buds models.

The earbuds feature 12mm drivers and connect via Bluetooth 5.2 (quick pairing with Meizu smartphones). These IPX4-rated buds come with support for touch gestures controls and up to 30dB ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

The buds house a 43mAh battery each, whereas the charging case includes a 520mAh battery. Without ANC, the overall endurance for this product is rated at 30 hours as compared to 25 hours with ANC.

The buds themselves last for up to 6 and a half hours on a full charge with noise cancellation turned off. When ANC is activated, the battery life of the buds drops by an hour to 5 and a half hours. When out of juice, users can charge this audio accessory either wirelessly (Qi) or wired (USB Type-C).

Last but not least, Meizu mblu Blus bears model number GB8898-2001, comes in a single white color option, and ships with three different-sized ear tips.

Meizu mblu Blus Price and Availability

The Meizu mblu Blus TWS earphones are priced at ¥199 ($31) in China. The accessory is already up for sale via multiple retailers across the country.

It’s not known whether this product will make its way outside mainland China. Interested people will probably have to import.

So while the merger was meant to streamline software updates by building OxygenOS on top of ColorOS, the downsizing might affect their original plans.

Although, it is unknown how exactly this would affect the company’s ColorOS development overall since the brand reportedly cut redundant positions. The Bloomberg report added that the company is currently struggling with chip shortages along with “economic shocks” caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, Oppo had moved to aggressively expand and even compete with Apple in the premium market segment, but this is what led to the creation of the the aforementioned redundant positions.

Apart from the ColorOS team, the brand had to cut staff in other departments as well. This includes its IoT (internet of things) division and some parts of smartwatches and earbuds teams. At the moment, the impacts of these lay offs have yet to be felt as the company has just released its first details of its ColorOS skin based on Android 12 operating system that will roll out in October 2021.

Xiaomi 11T series gets AI Virtual Smart Sensor, no dedicated proximity sensor required

Xiaomi has partnered with Elliptic Labs and created an AI Virtual Proximity Sensor INNER BEAUTY® that has been featured on the new Xiaomi 11T smartphone.

The sensor essentially makes use of the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform that helps enable software-only sensor solutions that either replace or augment existing hardware sensors. In other words, it outdoes the need for a dedicated hardware proximity sensor on devices like the Xiaomi 11T series. This lowers costs with fewer supply-chain constraints.

The partnership isn’t something new as Xiaomi has relied on Elliptic Labs since 2016. There were earlier reports pointing towards Xiaomi ending its partnership with Elliptic Labs, in light of a slew of complaints about proximity sensor issues on newer Xiaomi and Poco devices.Xiaomi 11T Series Featured A

However, the AI software company has now clarified that Xiaomi continues to use its solutions in more smartphones. From this, it is safe to assume that the partnership will likely continue.

“Elliptic Labs’ partnership with Xiaomi is solid, and we’re pleased that they continue to use us in more smartphones as they have grown into the second-largest smartphone OEM in the world,” said Laila Danielsen, CEO of Elliptic Labs. “The AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform allows manufacturers to introduce new features, while omitting hardware-based sensors, reducing cost and eliminating sourcing risk. We are confident that our AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform will continue to provide the economies of scale, performance, and value that innovative partners like Xiaomi require to continue such growth.”

The Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro were unveiled on Wednesday. The handsets succeed the Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro from last year. They come with top-tier specs such as 120W charging, Dolby Vision, and a 108MP triple camera setup. The smartphones are IP53 rated and come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Both come with a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) capable of displaying over 1 billion colors at a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate. This is paired with an ultra-responsive 480Hz touch sampling.

New rumors regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series have surfaced again. This time revealing certain key information regarding the high end variant, Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.

The latest rumor arrives from known tipster Ice Universe. In a recent tweet, Ice Universe shared the size of the display along with the screen resolution and battery capacity of the upcoming Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. Reportedly, the top end model will sport a massive 14.6 inch display that has a 2960×1848px resolution and a whopping 11,500mAh battery pack that runs the tablet. Notably, the display size and battery size is in line with previous reports that we had covered earlier this year.

Furthermore, the resolution and display size implies that the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will feature pixel density of 240 PPI. This is only slightly lower than the previously launched Galaxy Tab S7+ that has a 266 PPI. The panel on the Tab S8 Ultra is an OLED display, although, the base Tab S8 will feature a TFT panel. On the other hand, the Tab S8+ will also sport an OLED panel while every model is expected to feature support for 120Hz high refresh rate.

The South Korean tech giant is also reportedly working on a new ultra thin bezel technology called BRS (Border Reduction Structure). This feature would enable thinner bezels for both smartphones and tablet from the company. Apple iPhone 13 Pro case shows significant enlargement of camera module

A silicon case has revealed that the iPhone 13 Pro easily has the largest camera module any iPhone has ever had. This makes sense considering that the iPhone model features significantly improved camera performance this year.

Source: Apple Insider

Fitting the iPhone 13 Pro case on an iPhone 12 Pro gives us an idea of how massive the difference is. Based on the image shared by Apple Insider, as seen above, it is safe to assume that the iPhone 13 Pro will be featuring a camera bump that’s larger by a third. This is amusing considering that the notch’s size on the front has been reduced by a third as well.

Announced this Tuesday, the iPhone 13 Pro packs in a number of camera upgrades. The primary camera has gotten a larger new sensor with a wider f/1.5 aperture for a 2.2x improvement in low light shots.

The ultra-wide sensor has seen some upgrades as well and now has an f/1.8 aperture. This is much larger than the iPhone 12 Pro’s f/2.4 equivalent. Lastly, the 12MP telephoto lens has gotten a boost from a 2x optical zoom on the iPhone 12 Pro to a 3x optical zoom on the iPhone 13 Pro.

Apple iPhone 13 Pro

There are no crazy megapixel counts on any of the sensors this year too as all the cameras on the Apple iPhone 13 Pro have 12MP sensors, including the selfie shooter, just like its predecessor.

Still, the camera upgrades are significant enough to justify a much larger camera module. Further, the depth of the overall camera package has likely been increased as well causing it to protrude more than ever before.

This is likely because of a new sensor-shift stabilization tech on the wide-angle shooter made possible by stacking two sensors diagonally instead of their usual vertical layout.

The iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999 and pre-orders for the new iPhone models will commence Friday (today) at 5:00 AM Pacific Time, following by an official launch on September 24. Initial shipments of first-party iPhone 13 series accessories will be arriving ahead of a start to pre-orders on Friday.
