Samsung plans to launch its 576MP camera sensor in four years

Samsung was the world’s first company to launch a smartphone camera with a 108-megapixel sensor. Continuing the development, the South Korean giant unveiled the world’s first 200-megapixel smartphone camera sensor last week in the form of Samsung ISOCELL HP1.

Now, the company is working on another ambitious smartphone camera sensor — 600-megapixel which the company had revealed last year. However, this high megapixel count sensor isn’t launching anytime soon.

Samsung 576MP Camera Launch Timeline

During a presentation at SEMI Europe Summit, Haechang Lee, Senior VP Automotive Sensor at Samsung Electronics revealed that the South Korean giant plans to launch its 576-megapixel camera sensor in 2025. The image was spotted by Image Sensors World.

Also, it appears that the 576MP camera sensor isn’t being developed for smartphones but the company is developing it for automobiles. It could also be used in drones and medical equipment but its use-case as a smartphone camera doesn’t appear to be a priority.

Samsung ISOCELL Camera Sensor Featured

Last year, when Samsung confirmed that it’s working on a 600MP camera sensor, Yongin Park, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Sensor Business talked about the company’s ambition of going beyond 500-megapixel which is equivalent to the human eye.

A few months ago, it was leaked that Samsung is developing a 600-megapixel camera sensor which features 0.8µm pixels and is 1/.0.57″ big. At the time, it was reported that the camera results in a 22mm bulge.

The South Korean company is also expanding the categories of its camera sensors usage from smartphones. It is now planning to provide camera sensors for several categories, including autonomous vehicles (AVs), drones, and IoT (Internet of Things) devices.

Xiaomi’s next flagship will have 200MP + 50MP dual primary cameras

Last week, Samsung announced the world’s first 200MP mobile sensor, the ISOCELL HP1. It said it has already begun shipping the sensors to manufacturers but didn’t say which ones. A new leak has revealed Xiaomi is most likely one of such manufacturers as it is working on a phone with a 200MP.

Next year, Xiaomi is expected to follow up the Mi 11 series with the Mi Xiaomi 12 series, and one of the models will have two primary cameras, one of which is a 200MP sensor. The info is from the Chinese leaker, Digital Chat Station, who revealed the detail on Weibo.

Xiaomi 200MP camera phone

In his words, Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship will have a 200MP + 50MP dual camera solution. Considering Samsung is the only camera manufacturer that has announced a 200MP sensor, it is safe to say Xiaomi will be using the ISOCELL HP1 sensor, and that the next-gen flagship is a phone in the Xiaomi 12 series. The post also revealed that Xiaomi will continue to use 108MP and 64MP sensors for its mid-range and high-end phones.

It is no surprise that Xiaomi plans to launch a phone with a 200MP camera. The Mi CC9 Pro was the first phone with a 108MP sensor, so it makes sense that Xiaomi will want to be one of the first to launch a phone with a 200MP camera.

Huawei schedules a launch event on September 13 for office productivity products

Huawei has scheduled a launch event in its home country China on 13th September at 07:30 p.m. local time. The event, which is titled “Unlocking new office productivity!” hints at the launch of new office-related products.

The company has not yet revealed what devices it plans to launch at the next week’s event but if the recent leak is to be believed then the China-based tech giant is gearing up to launch its own printer.

Huawei Sept. 13 Launch Event in China

Another report indicates that Huawei will be launching a 14-inch large-screen product at its September 13 launch event. The report adds that the device won’t be a smartphone in the traditional sense but will have the functions of a mobile phone but what the product will be called is not yet known.

The screen of 14-inch is a bit larger for a regular tablet but is related to a laptop. However, it appears that the upcoming device isn’t a laptop as it has support for functions of a smartphone. To know for sure, we’ll have to wait for a few more days for the official launch event to take place.

Huawei Printer Leak

As for the printer, the leaked image of the upcoming Huawei printer reveals that along with the printing functionality, it also comes with support scanning and copying, making the printer an all-in-one product. Apple Watch Series 7 shipments could be delayed due to production issues

Apple has now confirmed that the company will be hosting its next launch event on 14th September. While the tech giant has not confirmed what devices it plans to launch at this “California Streaming” event, it’s pretty evident that the iPhone 13 series is expected to go official on 14th September.

But the next-generation iPhone isn’t the only product getting launched at the event. Going by the previous record of the company and the rumors, Apple is also set to announce its Watch Series 7 at the same event.

However, a new report claims that the actual launch of the Apple Watch Series 7 could be delayed as the company is facing production issues. Currently, there’s not much information available about what the issues are.

This means that while the Apple Watch Series 7 will be announced next week, the new models of the smartwatches won’t be available for purchase until the end of October. But there’s a possibility that instead of delaying the launch for all the models, Apple could only delay the affected models while the rest of them will be available as usual.

If the reports are to be believed, then Apple isn’t focusing much on the health-related features for the upcoming smartwatch but is dedicating efforts for a new design with flatter edges and improving the hardware specs which includes a new display and a new chip.

This time, the Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to come in 41-millimeter and 45-millimeter variants, and the larger model carrying a screen of 1.9-inch. The display is said to use a new lamination technique for bringing the display closer to the protective glass. This new display is what’s causing the production delay.

Apart from the Series 7 models, Apple is also reportedly working on a successor of the Watch SE which is said to launch next year, along with a rugged model which will be targeted at extreme sports users.

Xiaomi surpasses Apple in Q2 2021 to emerge as the world’s No. 1 wearable brand

Data released by Canalys shows that the global wearable market recorded a 5.6% year-on-year growth in Q2 2021 with an estimated 40.9 million wearables shipped during the period. Xiaomi wearable shipment Q1 2021

The report also shows that Chinese tech giant Xiaomi leapfrogged Apple to emerge as the top-selling wearable brand in Q2 2021. Xiaomi’s feat was made possible by the exploit of the Mi Smart Band 6 which performed well despite not launching in India during the period. Xiaomi just launched the Mi Band 6 in India and we expect it to continue to drive sales for the Chinese manufacturer.

Surprisingly, embattled Chinese tech giant Huawei held on to the third spot of which we know the sale is being driven by the Chinese market, one of the world’s largest. Huawei is closely followed by Fitbit with Samsung completing the top 5 spots.Smartwatch market share

Xiaomi’s feat comes at a time the smart band market has been declining, a trend which started in Q4 2020 and extended to the first quarter of this year. Smartwatches are, however, replacing the basic bands and Apple is in the lead in that segment. The Cupertino-based company controls about 31.1% share of the market in Q2 2021.

Huawei occupies the second spot with an estimated 9% share of the market. Others include Garmin with a 7.6% market share, Samsung with a 7% share, and Xiaomi with an estimated market share of 5.7%.

The report noted that smartwatches now account for 62% of global wearable band shipments. We expect this trend to continue as manufacturers are increasingly developing models crammed with loads of vital features. Apple is also expected to hold on to its lead of the market in Q3 and Q4 as it slashes the prices of its current models preparatory to the Watch Series 7 launch. The Watch Series 7 is also expected to drive sales in the fourth quarter when it is released.

Vivo

Unfortunately, the pricing details of the smartphones are unavailable at the moment. But, we expect the vanilla X70 to come at mid-range pricing, whereas the X70 Pro to have similar pricing as the starter flagships from big giants like Samsung. The X70 Pro+ will be the premium offering from the company and is expected to be priced similarly to the top tier phones from again Samsung, Apple, Huawei.

Regarding its availability, the series may not make it to the global market very soon. But, we expect some of the phones from the series to go global sometime later this year. We can expect the phones to arrive in the UK and India.

Asus ROG Phone 5s has the same design as the original ROG Phone 5 with an RGB LED on the rear side, a glass back, and an aluminum frame. It offers the Gorilla Glass 3 protection for the rear glass and the Gorilla Glass Victus protection for the display. The Nubia Red Magic 6S Pro adds a very interesting color option: the Ghost color variant with a transparent back. Combined with the RGB LEDs on the in-built cooling fan, the transparent design makes the device look gorgeous. The Asus ROG Phone 5s has pressure sensitive gaming triggers, while the Red Magic 6S Pro has both pressure sensitive zones with a 450 Hz touch sampling rate and a physical trigger on the back. The Asus ROG Phone 5s is compatible with several external gaming accessories, while Red Magic 6s Pro is not.

Display

The Asus ROG Phone 5s has the most advanced display in terms of image quality. It is an AMOLED panel with one billion colors, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification showing a high color accuracy, high brightness, and contrast. Specs & Software

Asus ROG Phone 5s and Nubia Red Magic 6s Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 888+ mobile platform running at a max frequency of 3 GHz, but the Nubia Red Magic 6s Pro wins the hardware comparison because it has a superior memory configuration in the most expensive variant. Camera

Are you looking for the best camera phone? You should definitely avoid choosing a gaming phone if you want a camera phone, but these devices are your favorite choices, go for the Asus ROG Phone 5s. It has a slightly better main camera supporting 8K video recording, as well as a better 13 MP ultrawide camera and a better 5 MP macro sensor. Last but not least, it has a superior 24 MP front camera while Red Magic 6s Pro has just 8 MP on the front.

Battery

The Asus ROG Phone 5s has a bigger battery and it lasts more on a single charge: its capacity is 6000 mAh, while the European version of the Nubia Red Magic 6s Pro has “just” 5050 mAh. Anyways, both are good battery phones. On the other hand, Red Magic 6S Pro has a faster charging technology with a power of 120W, but unlike the ROG Phone 5s, it does not support reverse charging.

Price

The starting price of the Nubia Red Magic 6s Pro is €599/$710, while the Asus ROG Phone 5s starts from €915/$1080. Despite Nubia Red Magic 6s Pro is not a superior phone, it has a way higher value for money, that is the reason why I would choose it.

OPPO Watch Free to launch this month, tablet may arrive alongside Reno7 series

OPPO may not have a flagship phone to launch in the second half of the year like its competitors but the Chinese manufacturer does have some interesting products coming before 2021 wraps up. A new leak has not only revealed that it has a new smartwatch planned for release this month, but has also provided details of other products.

The new smartwatch, which will launch as the OPPO Watch Free according to Digital Chat Station, will be OPPO’s second watch this year when it is announced by the end of September. The BBK-owned company announced a successor to its first smartwatch, the OPPO Watch, back in July. Seeing as the OPPO Watch 2 just went on sale last month, this new watch may be a less-powerful model with a more affordable price tag. Let’s hope this watch isn’t missing in action like the OPPO Watch RX that was announced last year but never released.

There are no details about the features of the watch but there is a possibility it may run RTOS instead of ColorOS Watch.

The Chinese leaker also disclosed that OPPO is already working on adapting its OS for its upcoming foldable device and tablet. However, the development is slow and the tablet won’t arrive anytime soon. Although, there is a possibility it will launch with the Reno7 series which should arrive before the year ends.

The Reno7 series will most likely launch in December, thus allowing for about six months between it and the Reno6 series that was announced in May. Details should begin to surface once we are in the fourth quarter.

Huawei’s HarmonyOS is already in version 2 and it has rolled out to more than 70 million devices according to a report from last week. A new report has revealed Huawei will announce a new version of the operating system later this year at its annual developer conference this year.

The source of the info is the leaker, Teme, who goes by @RODENT950 on Twitter and he revealed in a tweet that the new version of HarmonyOS will be announced at the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2021 that will hold later this year. The date for the conference is currently unknown. We checked its website and what we found is the date for its Huawei Developer Day event which is scheduled for September 10.

While we wait for more details regarding the next version of HarmonyOS, Huawei has a number of interesting product announcements scheduled for this month. The source reconfirmed the launch of Huawei’s AiO PC as well as new S-series MateBooks, a new MateView monitor, a laser printer, and the Nova 9 smartphone series.

It has already been confirmed that the Nova 9 series will be announced at an event in China on September 23. However, it is not known if the computer-related products will be announced on that day too.

Huawei has been focusing more on its PC business in recent months.  While it has been making laptops under its MateBook line before its trouble with the U.S began, its recent push into more computer-related categories began after the ban. It launched its first desktop computer last year which is targeted at professionals. The upcoming All-in-One PC should be more appealing to the average consumer.
