Exynos 2500 will have better power efficiency than Snapdragon 8 Gen 4: Report

Rumors about Samsung‘s next flagship chipset, the Exynos 2500, have been circulating for a while. A new report suggests that the processor might outperform Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in terms of power efficiency.

Earlier this month, Samsung and Synopsys announced in a joint press release that they successfully mass-produced their prototype 3nm process design.

There have been obvious speculations that Samsung would use this 3nm design for their upcoming Exynos 2500 chip. Now, a report by Business Korea claims the same, revealing that the Galaxy S25 series will feature this chip.

The most interesting part of the report is the claim that the Samsung Exynos 2500 will have better energy efficiency than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Historically, Qualcomm chips have had an edge in terms of raw performance, while Exynos processors have majorly focused on power efficiency. The trend seems likely to continue with the upcoming SoCs if the new rumor is to be believed.

Although there are no numbers or benchmarks yet to support this claim, we also know very little about the core configuration of the Exynos 2500. That will be crucial for determining the chip’s performance and efficiency.

One confirmed feature of the Exynos 2500 is that it will feature ARM Cortex-X5 cores. ARM is rumored to make the Cortex-X5 the most powerful smartphone CPU available that is said to perform better than the Oryon CPU cores expected in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Note that many of these details are based on leaks and industry reports. While they do reveal details about the SoC’s potential features and performance, you should not that them as definitive.

iQOO Z9x vs Moto G64: Which Budget Phone Offers Better Value?

Both iQOO Z9x 5G and Moto G64 5G are recent smartphone launches in India, targeting the budget-range segment with 5G capabilities. While they share some similarities, key differences exist that can influence your buying decision. Let’s delve deeper into their specifications to see which phone comes out on top.

iQOO-Z9x-5G
iQOO Z9x 5G

1. Display

The iQOO Z9x boasts a slightly larger 6.72-inch display compared to the Moto G64’s 6.5-inch screen. Both offer Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2408 pixels and 1080 x 2400 pixels respectively) and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate for a fluid user experience.  However, the iQOO Z9x claims a higher peak brightness of 1000 nits compared to the Moto G64’s 560 nits, making the iQOO’s display potentially better for outdoor viewing. The Moto G64 5G offers Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for scratch resistance, while iQOO doesn’t specify any protection.

2. Performance and Storage

The iQOO Z9x is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, while the Moto G64 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7025. Both are mid-range processors, but the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is built on a newer 4nm process compared to the Dimensity 7025’s 6nm architecture. This could translate to slightly better power efficiency for the iQOO Z9x.

For most day-to-day tasks and multitasking, both phones should perform adequately. However, if gaming is a priority, the Adreno 710 GPU in the iQOO Z9x might offer a slight edge over the IMG BXM-8-256 GPU in the Moto G64 5G for handling demanding titles.

3. Storage

The iQOO Z9x offers RAM options of 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB with up to 8GB virtual RAM support, while the Moto G64 5G comes in 8GB and 12GB variants with up to 12GB virtual RAM. Both offer expandable storage via microSD card. However, the Moto G64 5G goes a step further with a higher storage option of 256GB compared to the iQOO Z9x’s maximum of 128GB. Also, users who prioritize multitasking and smoother app switching might favor the Moto G64’s higher RAM options.

4. Camera

On paper, the rear camera setups seem similar. Both pack a primary 50MP sensor. However, the Moto G64 includes an 8MP ultra-wide sensor that can also function as a macro camera and depth sensor, offering more versatility. The iQOO Z9x sticks to a basic 2MP depth sensor. The Moto G64 also boasts a higher resolution 16MP front-facing camera compared to the iQOO Z9x’s 8MP sensor, potentially resulting in sharper selfies and video calls. When it comes to video recording, the iQOO Z9x with the 8GB RAM version offers 4K recording, while the Moto G64 is capped at 1080p.

5. Battery

Both phones come equipped with a large 6000mAh battery, promising long battery life. The iQOO Z9x edges out the Moto G64 5G with faster 44W fast charging compared to the Moto’s 30W. This translates to potentially shorter charging times for the iQOO Z9x.

6. Software

Both phones run the latest Android 14 out of the box. iQOO uses its custom FuntouchOS 14 on top, while Moto utilizes its My UX interface. The update policy is a differentiator here. Motorola promises an assured update to Android 15 and 3 years of security updates, which might be appealing for users who want to stay on the latest software for longer. iQOO doesn’t specify its update commitment.

7. Design and Build

The iQOO Z9x comes in Storm Grey and Tornado Green colors, while the Moto G64 5G offers Mint Green, Pearl Blue, and Ice Lilac options. Both phones have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio. The Moto G64 5G boasts a PMMA back, while the iQOO Z9x comes with plastic composite sheet back panel.

The iQOO Z9x boasts an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, offering some protection against accidental spills and splashes. The Moto G64 5G only offers a basic level of dust and water resistance (IP52).

8. Pricing

The iQOO Z9x starts at Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB RAM variant, making it slightly cheaper than the Moto G64 5G’s base price of Rs. 14,999 (8GB RAM). However, the iQOO Z9x doesn’t offer a 256GB storage option like the Moto G64 5G’s 12GB RAM variant priced at Rs. 16,999.

9. Conclusion

The choice between the iQOO Z9x and Moto G64 5G depends on your priorities. If you prioritize a larger display with higher peak brightness, faster charging, and a slightly more water-resistant build, the iQOO Z9x is a compelling option, especially at its starting price point.

Gamers might also prefer the iQOO Z9x due to the Qualcomm processor and its potential for better power efficiency. However, if you value a stock-like Android experience with a confirmed update to Android 15, an ultra-wide camera, and a higher resolution front camera, the Moto G64 5G emerges as a strong contender. Users who prioritize expandable storage might also find the Moto G64 5G’s 256GB option appealing.

Ultimately, both phones offer good value for money in the mid-range 5G segment. Consider your needs and preferences before making a decision.

Huawei Pura 70 has 33 China-made components, highest ratio for the brand

While the reports claiming that Huawei Pura 70 phones have 90% of their parts sourced from Chinese suppliers turned out to be false, research firm TechInsight’s analysis reveals that the phones indeed have a record number of locally sourced semiconductors.

TechInsights’ analysis reveals that the majority of components in the Pura 70 series are from China. The base Pura 70 model shows the highest reliance on Chinese parts, with 33 out of 69 components sourced domestically, compared to only five from non-Chinese suppliers.

The Pura 70 Ultra exclusively uses memory from Yangtze Memory Technologies Corporation (YMTC), China’s leading NAND memory maker, which is also facing US sanctions.

“The ratio of Chinese-procured components was higher in the standard Pura 70 than in the Pro Plus model,” said Stacy Wegner, a TechInsights analyst.

A previous TechInsights analysis revealed that the HiSilicon Kirin chips powering the Pura 70 series are manufactured by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), China’s largest chipmaker. That is consistent with the production of the Mate 60 chips, all using the same 7-nanometer process.

Huawei’s reduced reliance on foreign manufacturers is a significant win for the company, especially given the tight restrictions imposed by the US.

Recently, the US revoked chip export licenses from Qualcomm and Intel for Huawei, further limiting access to their products. However, analysts downplay the impact of this move, noting Huawei’s existing capabilities in producing 4G and 5G chipsets for various phone models.

“We don’t expect the revoked licenses to significantly affect Huawei’s smartphone business in 2024,” said Linda Sui, a senior analyst at TechInsights.

For photos and videos, the Pad 3 will be equipped with a basic camera setup. The front-facing selfie lens will in at 5 megapixels, while the rear will have an 8-megapixel main camera.

Security will be handled through a 2D facial recognition solution. The leak also mentions at least one storage configuration of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Vivo Pad 3 Pro

There are rumors suggesting the Vivo Pad 3 might be rebranded as the iQOO Pad 2. The tipster leak itself uses “Pad 3 / Pad 2” phrasing, suggesting the Vivo Pad 3 might be released as the iQOO Pad 2 in some markets.

The speculation is further supported by similar model numbers found on China’s 3C certification platform for both devices.

With the information available, the Vivo Pad 3 (or the iQOO Pad 2) appears to be shaping as an upper mid-range tablet with a large display, capable processor, and a big enough battery.

The company has yet to reveal any official details about it. However, with leaks surfacing, we can expect a launch announcement from Vivo soon.

Phone Repair Guru Takes Apart New M4 iPad Pro, Reveals Internal Changes and a Unique Heat Dissipation Design

YouTuber Phone Repair Guru recently disassembled the new 13-inch M4 iPad Pro on their YouTube channel, offering a look into its internal design. This teardown comes after Apple‘s announcement of the new iPad Pro, boasting a nearly 20% improvement in heat dissipation compared to its predecessor. To achieve this feat, Apple incorporated a graphite thermal film within the chassis and cleverly replaced the rear logo with a copper material, both aiding in heat management as confirmed by the disassembly video.

There is nearly a 20% improvement in heat dissipation compared to the predecessor

Another noteworthy change is the relocation of the front camera and Face ID module. These components have been shifted to the right edge, aligning with the magnetic attachment point for the new Apple Pencil Pro. The disassembly also revealed adjustments made to the internal magnet array of the new iPad Pro.

While the overall internal design largely resembles the previous generation, the video provides a closer look at key components like the central logic board housing the M4 chip, a 10209mAh battery with user-friendly pull tabs, and the quad-speaker setup.

The new iPad Pro, officially launched last Wednesday, boasts not only the M4 chip but also an OLED display and a sleeker, lighter body design.

OpenAI has taken ChatGPT‘s data analysis capabilities to a whole new level, making data exploration and manipulation a breeze. This update streamlines workflows and unlocks real-time data insights.

ChatGPT now also offers interactive table and chart views

The biggest change is the integration with cloud storage services. Gone are the days of downloading and uploading files. Now, ChatGPT allows you to directly access your data from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. This eliminates unnecessary steps and lets you work seamlessly with your cloud-stored documents.

Data visualization gets a major upgrade as well. ChatGPT now offers interactive table and chart views, allowing you to delve deeper into your data in real-time. You can interact with the visualizations to gain a more intuitive understanding of what your data is telling you.

Forget generic charts. ChatGPT lets you customize charts to fit your specific needs. You can tailor the look and feel to match your presentation or report, and then download them for easy inclusion in your work.

Data handling has also been significantly enhanced. Whether you’re working with massive datasets, cleaning messy data, or creating insightful charts, ChatGPT can handle it with ease. This power comes from a new underlying model that empowers ChatGPT to tackle even the most complex data tasks.

Interestingly, online discussions about a new model called ADA V2 (rumored to be GPT-4) have emerged alongside the ChatGPT update. Users who participated in the grayscale testing of this model have been impressed by its powerful coding capabilities.

OpenAI’s relentless pace of innovation is evident. Just three days after the GPT-4o reveal, they’re making significant strides with both ChatGPT and ADA V2. These advancements are rapidly changing the data analysis landscape, and the possibility of an even more powerful “GPT-5” on the horizon is certainly exciting.
