Nubia to announce Red Magic Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router; sends out a portable fan with a built-in game as invite

Alongside the Red Magic 5S, Nubia has revealed it will announce the Red Magic Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router. The manufacturer has also sent out an unusual item as the invite to Tuesday’s launch event.

The Red Magic Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router is shaped like a cube. The top itself has a Red Magic logo that glows red while “Wi-Fi 6” is inscribed on one of its sides. The router has a silver finish and the four corners of the top are air vents.

Red Magic Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router

The post by Ni Fei, Nubia’s CEO, says the Wi-Fi 6 router brings support for game acceleration when connected to Red Magic phones. He also stated that the router uses a high-performance CPU and has OFDMA technology that allows multiple devices to enjoy the benefits of Wi-Fi 6 simultaneously. Also, the router uses a mesh network for wider coverage and stronger wall penetration.

In related news, Nubia has also sent out an unusual invite for its event on Tuesday, July 28. The device manufacturer sent a portable fan with a built-in retro brick game.

Red Magic 5S invite

The fan has seven blades, comes in white, and has the familiar Red Magic logo in the middle. The handle has been made significantly wider compared to other portable fans. This is so that it can house the components of the game which includes a screen.

The event on Tuesday is said to be for the launch of the Red Magic 5S and a bunch of ecological products. So we expect other products other than the phone and the router will be announced on that day.

And as you can see, it reflects in the color of the device which is a mix of marine blue (color of the sea) and brown (color of beach sand). A translation of the name of the new color variant on Xiaomi’s official website is “Aqua Skylight”.

The new color variant will be available in three configurations – 8GB RAM + 128GB, 12GB RAM + 128GB, and 8GB RAM + 256GB. Unfortunately, Redmi has decided to not make it available in the 6GB RAM + 128GB configuration. The Redmi K30 Pro Aqua Skylight should be available for purchase tomorrow.

Xiaomi MI Ebook Reader receives Bluetooth certification

Last year, Xiaomi announced its very first ebook reader called the MiReader. The product is exclusive to China but it may be getting a global release soon under the name MI Ebook Reader.

The MI Ebook Reader has been spotted on the database of the Bluetooth SIG. The device received its Bluetooth certification on July 23 and the certificate shows it will connect via Bluetooth 5.0.

Xiaomi MI EBook Reader

Lately, Xiaomi has been launching outside China more of its non-smartphone products. Just a few weeks ago, it launched the Mi Portable Electric Air Compressor in India. The portable inflator launched in China more than a year ago before getting a global release. Its Mi Notebook PCs have also made their way out of China. So it is no surprise that it wants to launch its Ebook reader outside China.

The MiReader has a 6-inch e-Ink screen with a PPI of 221. There is also a 24-level adjustable front-lit LED, so owners can read in the dark. It is powered by an Allwinner processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The e-book reader supports several file formats including epub, PDF, DOC, XLS, TXT, and PDF. Users can also sideload their own content onto the device.

We can’t say how soon the MI Ebook Reader will launch but we sure will update you when we have more details.

Design

Which design you should go for? In this case, it mostly depends on your tastes. Do you prefer having a beautiful look or a better build quality? If you like to have a modern and futuristic look, maybe OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10 5G are better choices for you. The former features a punch-hole design to get rid of bezels around the display, while the latter has a full-screen display thanks to a motorized pop-up camera. The Honor X10 also comes with a higher screen-to-body ratio. On the other hand, Redmi 10X offers a glass back for a more premium build quality. The glass back is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, just like the display.

Display

The most stunning display belongs to the Redmi 10X. Despite being a very affordable device, it is one of the few to feature an AMOLED panel with more brilliant colors and deeper blacks than a typical IPS panel. Further, it features the HDR10+ certification for better image quality, especially on streaming platforms. The handset even comes with very high brightness: 600 nits, according to the company. OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10 are equipped with average IPS panels with a Full HD+ resolution, but they feature a high 90 Hz refresh rate. But given that Redmi 10X has a better image quality, we would not mind about its standard refresh rate.

Specs & Software

If you need the highest performance, choose the Honor X10. It is fueled by the Kirin 820 5G chipset which can be compared to the Snapdragon 765G in terms of CPU and GPU performance. You also get up to 8 GB of RAM. The silver medal goes to the Redmi 10X sporting a Dimensity 820 processor paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage. The OPPO A72 5G is the first phone with the Dimensity 720, but it is an inferior chipset to Kirin 820 5G and Dimensity 820. With Oppo A72 5G, Redmi 10X, and Honor X10, you get a highly-customized user interface based on Android 10.

Camera

According to the specs on the paper, the best camera quality should be provided by the OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10. It is still too early to give a definitive verdict since we did not test both the devices. But we can tell you that the sensors of the Redmi 10X are actually inferior to both OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10.

Battery

The Redmi 10X has the biggest battery and, thanks to its more efficient display and its higher battery capacity, it will last a lot more than its two rivals on a single charge. The Honor X10 comes right after with its 4300 mAh battery and 7 nm chipset. But we do not expect the OPPO A72 5G to be disappointing.

Price

Honor X10 has a €274/$319 starting price, Redmi 10X starts from €240/$280, and OPPO A72 5G costs €230/$197. Despite being more affordable, Redmi 10X is the best choice of this comparison for those who need a better display and longer battery life. But if you want better cameras and hardware, you should choose the Honor X10. With its great cameras and stereo speakers, the OPPO A72 5G sits in the middle and it will probably be a better option for a lot of people if it hits the global market, given that Huawei devices lack Google services.

LG has a UV phone sanitizer box too but it is not on sale

At the beginning of the month, Samsung announced an ultraviolet disinfection box for phones and other small personal effects such as glasses and masks. The box not only disinfects the phone but can also charge it wirelessly if the device supports wireless charging. It turns out that LG also has its own UV sterilizer for phones but it doesn’t seem to be available for sale.

The LG UV phone disinfection was included in the LG Velvet review unit shipped to XDA-Developer writer, Max Weinbach. As you can see in the image below included in his tweet, the device has LG Velvet inscribed on it. There is also a lightning logo which might mean that the box is also capable of charging devices.

LG Velvet UV Phone Sterilizer

Unfortunately, the device doesn’t seem to be available for purchase. We checked the official LG Korea and LG US websites but didn’t find it listed there. Hopefully, LG will make it available to the public soon.

There are a bunch of phone sterilizers you can purchase for your device that will kill the germs on your device. So if Samsung or LG’s sterilizer isn’t available, you can pick one up from a third-party, just make sure you read the reviews. Another option to keep your phone clean is by using recommended cleaning procedures you can carry out at home.

Here are the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra renders in all colors

Smartphones these days leak months ahead of their official launch. The Galaxy S20 series is barely six months old but the model numbers of its successor Galaxy S21 series are already out in the public. That said, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will be unveiled in a few days from now. But due to current leak culture, we know everything about this device. As we are nearing close to the launch date, the press renders of all the color variants have now leaked as well.

Initially, Samsung itself mistakenly outed the promotional picture of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in Mystic Bronze on its official website. Followed by that, popular leaker Evan Blas aka @evkeaks began to drop renders on his Patreon including a 360° version.

Then, WinFuture once again shared the renders of the handset in the same color along with Mystic Black variant. In the same report, the publication also revealed support for Microsoft xCloud game streaming service, an improved S Pen and the complete spec sheet.

Then, at last, came the render of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in Mystic White color, courtesy of Ishan Agarwal in partnership with 91Mobiles. The only thing we don’t know about this forthcoming device is its price, which we think will be out before the official launch on August 5.

Google is snooping on rival Android apps’ data usage for personal gain

An inside program at Google known as “Android Lockbox” can give the organization’s representatives access to data about how Android clients interface with famous, non-Google applications and services, as indicated in a report filed by The Information. The program, which works by means of Google Mobile Services, implies that representatives can apparently observe “delicate” information about different applications, including how frequently they’re opened and for how long they’re utilized.Google

Google said that the information doesn’t give data about how individuals carry on while they’re utilizing individual applications, however, it wouldn’t state whether it had been utilized to create contending applications.

The information accumulated is unknown and isn’t by and by recognizable, The Information says. Google says the information assortment is unveiled to clients and that they have authority over it.

A Google representative disclosed in an email to The Verge that “Since 2014, the Android App Usage Data API has been used by Google and Android developers who have been authorized by Android OEMs or users to access basic data about app usage—such as how often apps are opened—to analyze and improve services.”

Two of them are accessories namely Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live. Now, just a few days ahead of their launch, some of their unique features have been revealed, thanks to their plugin apps (companion apps) on Google Play Store.

Galaxy Watch 3 Galaxy Buds Live Features

Samsung has prematurely published the plugin apps of Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live on Play Store. This has resulted in a revelation of features that remained wrapped up until now despite numerous render leaks

Having said that, here are some interesting previously unknown features of South Koren tech giant’s upcoming accessories.

Galaxy Watch 3 Features

The teardown of the Galaxy Watch 3 Plugin app was carried out by Max Weinbach of XDA Developers. He found out new gestures, fall detection, and a plethora of default watch faces.

Talking about gestures first, since the Galaxy Watch 3 will come with a speaker, users will be able to clench and unclench their wrist to accept calls and start conversing. Similarly, they will have an option to decline calls by shaking their hand. Also, the screenshot gesture will be different and it will only require users to press both side buttons instead of holding the button and swiping left at the same time.

The most important and useful feature will be the new “Fall Detection” functionality similar to Apple Watches. When the wearable detects a fall, it will ring for 60 seconds and if the user doesn’t respond, it will text their location and 5 seconds sound recording to their emergency contacts.

Galaxy Watch 3 Default Watch Faces

Lastly, there will be a total of 47 default watch faces. Apart from these, users will be also able to install other watch faces from the store.

Galaxy Buds Live Features

The app also has tutorials to pair the herdable to devices along with a short instruction clip on how to wear it. Well-known leaker Ishan Agarwal shared this video on Twitter.

Further, the app confirms support for customizing touch controls and other features like find buds as well as equalizer option to name a few. Last but not least, the Galaxy Buds Live will also able to read notifications aloud to users.

The Black Shark 3S will not have a Pro version

The Black Shark 3 launched early this year but unlike previous Black Shark phones, it came along with a Pro version called the Black Shark 3 Pro that has a bigger and sharper screen, bigger battery, and even takes the storage options to 512GB. Now, the Black Shark 3S is coming, and it has been reported that there will be no Pro version.

The Black Shark 3S is expected to launch soon with a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor powering it, however, there will be “no large-screen version” says a rough translation of a Weibo post by Chinese leaker, Digital Chat Station.

Black Shark 3S Pro

He adds that the Pro model will be for the flagship released at the beginning of the year which means the Black Shark 4/5 should have a Pro version.

Not a lot is known about the specifications of the Black Shark 3S. The CEO only teased the device a few days ago and has not revealed anything afterward. Nevertheless, we expect it will have an AMOLED display, a high-refresh-rate, stereo speakers, and nothing less than 65W fast charging.

When the Black Shark 3S launches, it will challenge the already released ASUS ROG Phone 3 and the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel that has a starting price of roughly $500. It will also face the upcoming Nubia Red Magic 5S.

Looks like the Chinese tech giant will continue to do the same for H2 2020. It makes sense for the company to launch as many as products in its home country as its losing grounds in international markets.

Having said that, the tip about the launch of a variety of new products come from 看山的叔叔, a blogger on Weibo. As per him, Huawei will hold a press event to release MateBook D 15 2020 Ryzen Edition, which we expect to share features with the recently launched Honor MagicBook 15 2020 Ryzen Edition.

The company will not only unveil new laptops but it is also expected to launch the successor to the last year’s MatePad M6 10.8, and Kids Watch 4X. All of these products will go official on July 30 if the blogger is true.

Huawei unveils 28nm HiSilicon ATV chip with support for LiteOS

Last week, TSMC confirmed that it stopped accepting new chip orders from Huawei from May 15 after the new US government regulations. But still, the Chinese telecom giant’s silicon division HiSilicon officially unveiled a new 28m ATV (Advanced Television) chip with support for in-house LiteOS on July 24.

Hisilicon

Huawei is known for its HiSilicon chipsets, which power almost all the hardware the company makes like network equipment and smartphones to name a few.  Also, most of the firm’s chips are manufactured by TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturing company.

Unfortunately, the US cut off Huawei’s business with TSMC with new rules in May. Thus, the company is now left without a high-end chipmaker. It does have a domestic partner by the name of SMIC, which currently mass produces the 14nm Kirin 710F chipset.

We think the same company could be manufacturing the brand-new HiSilicon 28nm ATV chip. Just like its manufacturer, the details about this chipset is bleak as well.

According to ITHome, this new silicon from Huawei is targeted at non-smart TVs with 1080p (FHD) or lower resolution displays. It is said to be 20% powerful than other conventional chips that are mostly based on 40nm architecture.

Further, this HiSilicon chip also includes an integrated TCON (Timing Control) module to further reduce the overall cost of the TV. Additionally, it also supports the company’s real-time operating system called LiteOS.

For those unaware, this OS based on ultra-small kernel (< 10KB) requires low memory to operate and therefore, it is energy efficient. It boots up faster within certain milliseconds as well as supports multi-process synchronization, dynamic loading, access to different cloud platforms, and more. It is normally found on Huawei wearables and IoT products.

Also, this Huawei ATV chip supports various input ports such as analog, HDMI, VGA, CVBS, USB, and others. Last but not least, it also includes support for the company’s SWS (Super Wide Sound) sound effects to offer better audio experience.

Having said that, the availability of this new 28nm HiSilicon ATV chip is not known. Mostly, it will be limited to the Chinese market given the current situation.

Nubia Watch teaser confirms flexible OLED display and 316L stainless steel + aluminium body

Nubia is currently known for its Red Magic lineup of gaming smartphones but the brand also makes unique wearables. Last year, it launched Nubia Alpha as the world’s first commercially available wearable phone with a flexible display. For this year, the company has begun to tease a new wearable simply called Nubia Watch.

Nubia Watch Teaser Featured

The Nubia Watch was recently listed on JD (Jingdong) with July 28 launch date. Now, the brand has posted the wearable’s first official teaser on Weibo confirming it to launch alongside Red Magic 5S.

The teaser image only gives us a glimpse of Nubia Watch’s design but it does confirm it to feature a flexible OLED display and 316L stainless steel + aluminium body. Apart from these two things, we could not make anything else out of the picture except for a crown on the right side and a measurement scale for some reason.

The software on this smartwatch is a mystery. If we recall, the Nubia Alpha is powered by a custom OS based on Android. Maybe, the upcoming device will come with the same.

Anyway, we expect the brand to tease more features of the Nubia Watch before its launch next week just. Also, we think it may retail at a cheaper price than the Alpha.
