OnePlus took to OnePlus Community to announce that the ‘Photochrom filter’ or X-Ray vision as it is commonly called will be only disabled in China (HydrogenOS). That means the feature will continue to work on international OnePlus 8 Pro units running OxygenOS.
The company also said that it will roll out an OTA update in the coming week for global devices to ‘offer the Photochrom filter while limiting other functionality that may be of concern‘.
Original Story
Last week, OnePlus 8 Pro was trending for its color filter camera which allows users to look through thin plastic and clothes. As it rose privacy concerns, the company has now issued a statement on Weibo that it will be removing this filter known as ‘Photochrom’ within a week via an update.
OnePlus 8 Pro is the brand’s most ambitious and expensive smartphone so far. It also features a different set of cameras than other phones in the market. Normally, the fourth camera is either a depth, TOF or macro unit. But OnePlus to stand out in the crowd opted for a 5MP color filter camera.
According to the Weibo post, the company included the color filter lens on its device so users can capture landscapes or similar places with unique color texture. OnePlus also added that a number of OnePlus 8 Pro users have shared amazing pictures using this camera.
On the other hand, it also said that users have reported privacy concerns. Hence, the brand has decided to disable this ‘Photochrom’ (OxygenOS) / ‘Autumn’ (HydrogenOS) filter by rolling out an update within a week.
Additionally, OnPlus also said that it will bring back this filter in the near future by eliminating privacy concerns. That means it will be only disabled temporarily for the time being.
Also, it is worth noting that the international OnePlus team is yet to issue this statement to the public.

It carries the model number Q950TS and is the top of the line premium TV among its entire lineup. The TV is currently available for pre-orders and will launch on 1st June 2020.

One of its highlighting aspects is undoubtedly the display. Samsung is known for making top end screens and the Q950TS features a near complete screen to body ratio of 99 percent. In other words, there are negligible bezels that offer a full front display body. The 8K QLED TV is priced at 49,999 Yuan (roughly 7,063 US Dollars) for the 65 inch model, while the 75 inch and 85 inch version is priced at 69,999 and 99,999 Yuan respectively (roughly 9,848 and 14,068 US Dollars).

Ever since Huawei was hit by the trade ban by the US Department of Commerce, the company had lost support for Google services for its Android smartphones. The devices that ship now feature its own HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) and with the recent launch of the Honor 9X Pro in India, the services have arrived in India as well. Now, Honor India’s President, Charles Peng, has revealed that Huawei is seeking to further raise investment in the region to grow HMS.
According to the senior official, the Chinese tech giant is increasing its investment in the country to quickly grow its proprietary services that replace the GMS. The HMS is a software ecosystem, similar to Google’s popular portfolio of apps, and features many basic apps like an app store called AppGallery. Unfortunately, a few major and popular apps like Facebook, YouTube, and more cannot be found in the AppGallery yet, which has led to slowing sales in western regions for Huawei, especially in Europe.
However, the company isn’t deterred and is renewing its efforts in regions like India. Charles stated that “You can see HMS going very fast. India would be our global first frontline to grab consumer attention. We need to speed up ecosystem building exercise and keep investments in India for developers, consumers, and partners. We will keep increasing investment.” Additionally, Peng also said that the company aims at launching 10 new smartphones that ship with HMS later this year, and will include 5G handsets as well.
At the moment, Honor India is looking to bring over 5,000 applications that are used frequently by Indians. This will cater to the local demand and to make sure people aren’t skeptical about buying the recently launched Honor 9X Pro or any future Huawei/Honor launches. According to official reports, the company already has 1.3 million registered developers for its HMS, with more arriving every day. Apparently, some of the devices that will launch in India will also support a few Google apps but mainly focus on its own AppGallery.
Furthermore, the company is offering monetary incentives of about 20,000 US Dollars for the integration of apps into HMS, and by its extension, the AppGallery. This fund will be used through its recent setup 1 billion US Dollar global fund that was previously announced and was made to bring HMS up to Google services standards. A few popular apps arriving in India include Hungama, Zee5, MX Player, PayTM, Flipkart, and Grofers.
During the Huawei Analyst Conference of 2020, the company’s Vice President revealed the success of its consumer business’ smartphone product line, especially for 5G smartphones. According to the report, Huawei has sold over 15 million 5G handsets in the first quarter of 2020, making it rank first in China’s 5G market and seize 33 percent of the global 5G smartphone market as well.
In the conference, Huawei stated that it has a 33.2 percent market share for 5G smartphones and a 55.4 percent share in the Chinese market. At the moment, the Chinese tech giant has released more than 19 5G smartphones, with prices ranging from more than 2,000 Yuan (roughly 281 US Dollars) to even 16,000 Yuan (roughly 2,251 US Dollars).
According to a recent report from Strategy Analytics, the global demand for 5G enabled smartphones have surged in comparison to 2019. In just the first quarter of 2020, the global smartphone market saw 24.1 million 5G handsets being shipped, over 18.7 million in the entirety of 2019. A few major players in the market include the South Korean tech giant, Samsung, Honor, Vivo, and even Xiaomi.
Samsung had a total market share of 34.4 percent (8.3 million shipment), which was closely followed by Huawei and Honor (8 million shipments). Vivo with 2.9 million unit shipments had a market share of 12 percent while Xiaomi had a 10.4 percent market share by shipping 2.5 million 5G smartphone units.
OnePlus has been using OLED display on its smartphones since the OnePlus 3 (2016), however, the company is yet to introduce AOD (Always-on Display) functionality. Thankfully, there’s an Xposed module called OPAodMod which enables the said feature on Oneplus smartphones running both OxygenOS and HydrogenOS.
The OPAodMod is not a new Xposed module after all. It has been existing since last year but now it has been updated with new features after a hiatus as the original developer dropped support. This module is now maintained by an XDA Recognized Developer named Quinny899.
OPAodMod Xposed Module

That being said since OPAodMod is an Xposed module, interested OnePlus users will have to root their device with Magisk and install either EdXposed with Riru Core or TaiChi to use this module.
List of features available in OPAodMod Xposed Module
AOD (Always-on Display) just like on Google Pixels
Customizable layout
Three digital clocks
Two world clocks
DVD screensaver
Notification display – shows the text of notification before turning into the app icon
Raise to wake

Additionally, the developer is also working on to minimize the battery drain. We can expect this module to become much more stable before OnePlus releases the AOD feature officially.
For the unaware, OnePlus confirmed the arrival of AOD functionality to its devices lat March. Later, earlier this month, it also shared a rough timeline, according to which the development will only begin in June.

Four years after the launch of the first iPhone SE, Apple renewed its lineup of compact and affordable phones with the new iPhone SE 2020. But the fact it is affordable does not necessarily mean that the new handset is the best value for money phone by Apple. There are a few other interesting choices you can do if you are looking for an iPhone but you do not want to spend a huge amount of money. We are talking about purchasing iPhones from previous generations. Apple still has the 2019 iPhone XR and the iPhone Xs in stock, and you can get them at interesting prices. Design
The iPhone SE series is famous for its incredibly compact designs. The iPhone SE 2020 is definitely the most compact last-generation flagship. But it comes with outdated aesthetics: it has the same design as the iPhone 8 released in 2017 (just small differences such as the position of the Apple logo). The most beautiful handset is undoubtedly the iPhone Xs packing the most narrow bezels around the display, a glass back and a frame made of stainless steel. The handset is even the only with the IP68 certification for water resistance (up to 2m deep). Despite it has a much bigger display than iPhone SE, the iPhone Xs is still one of the most compact last-generation flagships.
Display
It has the best design and even the best display panel. We are naturally talking about the iPhone Xs, which, unlike its two opponents of this comparison, boasts an OLED display. The display of the iPhone Xs supports wide color gamut, it is HDR10-compliant and it even supports the Dolby Vision technology. Among the other features making it an outstanding panel we got a 120 Hz touch-sampling rate, 3D Touch, and True Tone technology, as well as a high peak brightness. Right after we got the iPhone XR which comes with a wider display but provides an inferior image quality to the iPhone Xs.
Hardware/Software
The iPhone SE 2020 is equipped with the best and most recent chipset by Apple: the A13 Bionic. iPhone Xs and XR ship with the older and less powerful Apple A12 Bionic. The iPhone Xs offers 1 gig RAM more than iPhone SE 2020, but I prefer having a better chipset than more RAM on a phone. So, the iPhone SE 2020 wins the hardware comparison. It ships with iOS 13, while iPhone Xs and XR have iOS 12 out of the box.
Camera
The most advanced camera department belongs to the iPhone Xs which is the only with a dual rear camera including a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. But the iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone XR are still amazing camera phones.
Battery
The battery of the iPhone SE 2020 is a bit disappointing compared to all the other iPhones. With an 1821 mAh capacity, it can only guarantee one day of moderate usage at max. The iPhone XR wins the battery comparison with a bigger 2942 mAh unit, but even though it wins this comparison, it is not among the best battery phones out there. With all of these phones, you can only get an average battery life at max. If you want an Apple device with long battery life, you should go for the iPhone 11 Pro Max boasting a 3969 mAh battery.
Price
iPhone SE 2020 has a starting price tag of $399/€499, iPhone XR sells starting from $599, and iPhone Xs had a $999 starting price, but you can easily find it for less than $700/€700 thanks to online street prices. The iPhone Xs is naturally the best phone of this comparison, but iPhone SE 2020 offers the highest value for money. You should go for the iPhone XR only if you are not satisfied with the battery of the iPhone SE 2020.
When Android OS first emerged, China Wireless Technologies now known as Coolpad was one of the first Chinese mobile phone manufacturers. Despite the current downturn in its fortunes in the phone industry, Coolpad recently celebrated its 26th-anniversary last year with the launch of the Coolpad 26 in Q3 2019. The company has now launched the Coolpad 26 Zhen Tibetan Edition priced at 1299 yuan (~$183).In terms of appearance, the Coolpad 26 Zhen Tibetan Edition features a 6.3-inch waterdrop screen with a resolution of 1080p and a screen ratio of up to 93%. The waterdrop notch houses a 16-megapixel camera. The phone packs a vertically aligned rear camera setup at the back which includes a 16-megapixels main camera sensor. There is also a wide-angle lens, a depth of field sensor and a LED flash.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and there is 128GB of internal storage onboard. The phone gets its juice from a 4000mAh battery and supports 15W fast charging. For biometrics, there is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Chinese drone maker DJI is presently the largest commercial drone manufacturer in the US. The brand’s market share may be decimated soon, not because of a competing brand but due to a recent court ruling bordering on patent violation.
DJI’s latest Mavic Air 2
The lawsuit was filed by Steptoe, a law firm representing Autel Robotics USA. The law firm was able to convince the US International Trade Commission’s chief administrative law judge that DJI had violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 through the act of importing and selling drones that violated US Patent 9,260,184, which is held by Autel.
The patent refers to a locking mechanism for locking drone rotors and was first filed in 2013. The thing is, Autel makes diagnostic equipment and won’t be directly affected if DJI halts sales of its drones in the US. But the ruling will mean DJI drones including the Mavic Pro, Mavic Pro Platinum, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Zoom, Mavic Air, and Spark. Autel has also filed a further petition to stop the sale of Phantom and Inspire drones as well.
In addition, the ruling also prohibits DJI from selling any of the models mentioned above which is still in stock in the US from July 2020. The ruling will face a 60-day review period before it becomes effective. During this period, DJI is required to put up a 9.9-percent bond.
At the Honor Smart Life Product Launch event, the brand also announced a number of ecological products under its Pro-selection series. The Clea Antibacterial Wireless Vacuum Cleaner and ULTTY Sterilization Bladeless Fan are one of those products.
Clea Antibacterial Wireless Vacuum Cleaner
This wireless vacuum cleaner features 10-cone cyclone dust separator and 350W 100,000 rpm motor. With a suction power of 125W, it is capable of removing minute dust.
As the name suggests, it also sterilizes the surface after cleaning dust. The vacuum cleaner’s sterilization is rated as high as 99.99%
Further, its battery is rated to run for up to 65 minutes on a full charger, It comes with necessary brush kits and being a smart IoT product, it can connect with an app and record the number of calories consumed while using it.
According to Honor, the Clea Antibacterial Wireless Vacuum Cleaner is good as Dyson, which costs way more than the former’s 1299 Yaun ($183) crowdfunding price tag.

It was recently rumoured that Google would start manufacturing Pixel phones in Vietnam. Fresh facts have emerged that the Pixel 4a is the first model manufactured in the Asian country.
A Vietnamese blog reports that a source who works inside the factory which assembles Google’s upcoming product has provided pictorials which confirm the Pixel 4a is being produced in Vietnam.
The factory located in Vinh Phuc is said to be run by a Taiwanese company but we can’t confirm if it is Foxconn. The factory also assembles iPads for Apple. According to the source, the Pixel production line was moved from Taiwan, including the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) line which is used to produce PCB (motherboard) for modern electronic devices.
The leaked photos shows that there are two different models available in white and black. The white is larger and is codenamed Blembe. This is suspected to be the Pixel 4a. The black one which is smaller is the Pixel 4a codenamed Sunfish. According to the sources, the Pixel 4a is made from ‘grainy plastic’, ‘plastic buttons’ and ‘mid-range phone feel’. Apart from the difference in sizes, the Pixel 4a XL also seems to pack a different camera setup. Although the other is grainy, it looks like a dual or triple camera setup onboard.
Talking about Pixel assembly line in Vietnam, this person shared that due to the new finishing, the output is very small, mainly SMT output and then transferred to Taiwan to install the finished product. Currently, the number of Pixel 4a installed in Vietnam is only a few hundred per week, considered as a test line. Anyway, the Pixel 4a has not been introduced yet, so one can expect that in about a month when everything goes into orbit, there will be Pixel 4a made in Vietnam (currently not received this certificate), according to the share.

The Ares has a 1.28-inch square-shaped reflective color display. Huami says the screen, which is housed in a polycarbonate frame with a rugged design, has an anti-fingerprint coating and is covered with Gorilla Glass 3. A pair of matching silicone straps are attached but unfortunately, you can’t replace them. Owners will be able to choose from 8 official watchfaces.
The Amazfit Ares can track a total of 70 different activities including basics such as running, swimming, and cycling, as well as other activities such as boxing, martial arts, taekwondo, sword-fighting, Zumba dance, ballet, bowling, squash, and lots more. The image below shows all the activities it can track.
The watch comes with FIRSTBEAT professional analysis algorithm that helps you improve the way you exercise. There is also Huami’s own PAI health assessment system built-in.
The Amazfit Ares has GPS+GLONASS for accurate tracking and also has a barometer for weather and altitude. There is a BioTracker PPG heart-rate sensor for 24-hour heart-rate monitoring. It also has a sedentary reminder, notification reminder, support for music playback, and offline payment.
With respect to battery life, the Amazfit Ares has a 200mAh battery capacity. Huami says it will last 13 days on a single charge with 24-hour heart-rate monitoring turned on, sleep tracking turned on, 150 notifications per day, GPS turned on for 30 minutes, and three exercise sessions per week. The battery life drops to 23 hours if GPS is turned on all-day. In basic watch mode, the Amazfit Ares will last up to 90 days on a single charge. The smartwatch charges via a magnetic charging stand.
The Ares will be available in two colors when it launches – Iwaguro (Black/Ash) and Army Green. It is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 and up and iOS 10.0 and above. There is no info on the price but that should become public knowledge when it is announced tomorrow.
Around February this year, Xiaomi’s MIJIA brand launched an 8-in-1 screwdriver set. An upgraded version has now been unveiled with 16 screwdriver heads of different sizes. The new MIJIA 16-in-1 Electric Screwdriver is priced at 99 yuan (around $14).
The MIJIA 16-in-1 ratchet screwdriver has two major upgrades. The rachet is upgraded to a 45 teeth precision gear, thus increasing the torque. The second upgrade is the inclusion of 16 different types of batch heads.
The screwdriver is equipped with eight S2 high-hardness bits. The 8-in-1 model has 8 single-head bits but this time it is upgraded to 8 double-head bits. The 8 bits contain 16 commonly used models with a hardness of 60HRC.
In addition, the Mijia 16-in-1 ratchet screwdriver comes with a 110mm extension rod (the extension rod on the 8-in-1 version was 105mm), which supports narrow space operations and has a wider range of use. The extension rod is removable, which takes up less space and is convenient for storage and carrying.
The screwdriver’s handle is made of nylon + fiberglass material and is covered with soft TPE, non-slip and non-stick rubber. It adopts an ergonomic 8-sided shape. The body also houses several contours that ensure it doesn’t slip off the hand easily. The head is also lightweight and durable.
