The Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Games Edition is officially canceled. The Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has decided to cancel the release of the special Galaxy S20+ variant due to the iconic Olympic games being postponed.
Samsung was originally planning on putting the device on sale in July 2020. However, after the announcement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games being postponed came through, the South Korean tech giant shared the Japanese mobile operator’s press release earlier today (23rd April 2020). It is currently unclear whether the decision was from Samsung or NTT.
The former was expecting the sales number of the Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Games Edition to drop but didn’t announce the cancelation previously. However, the situation has changed over the past couple of weeks as the situation with the global Coronavirus pandemic has been a cause for major concern.
Samsung and NTT Docomo are likely to be preparing a different Olympic Games Edition smartphone for 2021. This is when the Tokyo games might end up being hosted. The smartphone manufacturer is a major Olympic partner so this is still a possibility. Furthermore, it will also likely be for a different smartphone model like the Galaxy Note 20 or the 2021 Galaxy S model. However, this is just speculation so take it with a grain of salt.
Large corporations and common people are joining hands to fight back the COVID-19 global pandemic. The program is valid till June 30 and eligible individuals with a valid ID can either mail their Samsung smartphones or visit a nearby uBreakiFix outlet.
The free repair is valid once per customer and also covers cracked screen and battery replacement. The only condition to be met is the phone should turn on and must not have water damage. Further, all the first responders and healthcare professionals in the US can also avail up to 30% discount on the Samsung online store.
According to the press release, Samsung is offering these benefits to frontline workers so they can have access to proper communication devices to remain connected with friends and family in this challenging time.
A new vulnerability might have just been found in Apple iPhones. Security researchers have claimed that the default iOS Mail app suffers from a severe security flaw and is vulnerable to attacks from hackers.
According to a report from ZecOps, the vulnerability is already being exploited “in the wild” and that it is an advanced threat that Apple is unaware of. The research agency believes that at least 6 high profile targets have been exploited so far, including a Japanese mobile carrier executive and other “individuals from a Fortune 500 company in North America.”
ZecOps have refrained from mentioning names stating privacy reasons but said that it was unable to obtain the malicious code since the emails were remotely deleted by hackers. The firm believes that the vulnerability is related to 2 zero-day iOS exploits that have existed in the Mail app since at least iOS 6, which was launched back in 2012.
According to ZecOps, “the attack’s scope consists of sending a specially crafted email to a victim’s mailbox enabling it to trigger the vulnerability in the context of iOS MobileMail application on iOS 12 or mailed on iOS 13.” However, the method to reproduce this vulnerability has failed so far by various other researchers. This includes Jann Horn and Maddie Stone from Google’s Project Zero cybersecurity program.
@ZecOps your writeup says "The suspicious events included strings commonly used by hackers (e.g. 414141…4141).", but that's also what it looks like when you just base64-encode nullbytes; and this is MIME parsing, so you're likely to see base64-encoded data
Notably, Apple was reached out from Beijing News reported in China to verify the report from ZecOps, regarding the vulnerability the iOS mail app faces on iPhones. Unfortunately, Apple China declined to comment on the situation so we have no official confirmation. Other researchers are currently asking ZecOps to provide more details on how to recreate the vulnerability to actually prove the security flaw’s existence.
Huawei has recently been expanding on its smart IoT offerings. Examples of this are the recent FreeBuds 3 truly wireless earbuds and the Watch GT 2, which are both powered by its custom built Kirin A1 chipset. Now, the custom HiSilicon processor will reportedly also be found in headphones and a smart eyewear from Huawei.
HiSilicon Kirin A1
According to a new report, the Chinese tech giant is planning to launch more products with its latest Kirin A1 chipset in the near future. This includes headphones, a neckband, smart eyewear, and a smart speaker as well. In an interview, Zach Yang, Wearables and Audio Product Marketing Director of Huawei, revealed that the company will be launching Kirin A1 powered products in 2020 and 2021.
The HiSilicon chipset was custom made specifically for wearables products and was unveiled back at IFA 2019. Since then, Huawei has launched products like the FreeBuds 3 and Watch GT 2 which sport the new chipset. Unfortunately, the senior executive did not reveal any specific dates or a launch roadmap/timeline as to when exactly we can expect the headphones or smart eye wear to launch.
FreeBuds 3
Although, he did mention that the plan is to launch soon, possibly by the year end or next year. Huawei and its subsidiary Honor have been wanting to expand on their IoT product lineup, especially in India. Thus, we can expect more announcements to arrive in the coming weeks regarding this. So stay tuned.
Huawei is on the release spree, both in terms of product launches and software update rollouts. The company will be soon announcing Huawei Nova 5 series, amidst this, it has been rolling out EMUI 10.1 closed beta updates to certain newer deices and an incremental EMUI 10 update to older flagships. The Huawei Mate 10 series in China is the latest to receive the latter update with build version EMUI 10.0.0.170.
The new update brings features such as multi-screen collaboration, screen sharing, smart charging mode, and April 2020 security patch. This is exactly the same update that was recently rolled out to the Huawei P20 series.
But for those devices, the OTA came with build number EMUI 10.0.0.172, instead of EMUI 10.0.0.170 for the Huawei Mate 10 series.
Anyway, here’s the list of models that are currently receiving this update.
The update weighs 728MB in size and requires the above-mentioned eligible devices to be on EMUI 10.0.0.162 build. Just like the last time, we are not sure when the update will be hitting the global versions of these devices.

DJI, the popular drone maker, is gearing up for the launch of the Mavic Air 2. However, just prior to its launch, an FCC certification was spotted which revealed the specs of the drone, while the close up images of the drone were also revealed accidentally, by a DJI partner website.
Images Via DroneDJ
According to DroneDJ, the reporting agency that first broke the news, DJI Mavic Air 2 will cost 799 US Dollars. Furthermore, leaks had pointed at the successor having a 50 percent larger battery with a flight up time also being a couple of minutes higher than the Mavic 2. Reportedly, it can reach speeds up to 42.5 miles per hour, similar to the Mavic Air, and its camera will capture images up to 48 megapixel and record 4K videos as well.
In terms of stabilization, it has a 3 axis image stabilizer alongside several intelligent automated photo modes, like the ActiveTrack 3.0 that allows users to pick a subject for the drone to follow automatically. Unfortunately, it is still unclear when the Mavic Air 2 will actually go on sale, however, DJI has scheduled an event for the 27th of April 2020, so we may see the drone being unveiled on that same date.
Samsung is known to release to flagship series in a year, one in the first quarter and the other in the latter half of the year. The Galaxy S20 series is already here while rumors are already surfacing regarding the Galaxy Note 20 series. But, the South Korean tech giant might have just been dropping hints regarding its upcoming flagship lineup.
Reportedly: Samsung Galaxy Note 20 between the Galaxy S20 and S10+
According to a new report, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 might just have been spotted on Samsung Rewards section, under the “$1 Spot Themes.” In this section, an image was shared which depicted three smartphones, with the corner two being the Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy S20, while in the middle an unknown new device was sandwiched between the two.
Unlike the other two smartphones, this device didn’t seem to have the Infinity-O display with a centered punch hole selfie shooter on the front or a dual selfie camera on the top right corner either. This device might be the Galaxy Note 20, which may even feature an under display front camera. Furthermore, a notable aspect of the device is its screen as well, since it has negligible bezels on every side and no physical power and volume rockers being visible.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Concept Render
Unfortunately, this design goes against leaks which have previously surfaced and could likely be a mockup made from the company. However, the fact that the physical buttons have been taken out may be right as the Galaxy Note 20 was rumored to be getting rid of it. Although this is just speculation at this point, so take it with a grain of salt and stay tuned for more updates.
Xiaomi had partnered with Samsung to launch the world’s first smartphone featuring a 108-megapixel camera sensor. Now, both the companies are working together for a smartphone with 150-megapixel camera which is now said to launch in Q4 2020.
In line with the previous report, reliable tipster Iceuniverse has now reaffirmed that a smartphone featuring a 150-megapixel camera sensor will first get launched by Xiaomi in the fourth quarter of this year.
While the camera sensor will be made by Samsung, the South Korean giant won’t be the first one to adopt it in a smartphone. Currently, there’s no information about which smartphone model of Xiaomi will feature this high megapixel count camera sensor but it could be a part of Mi MIX series of the Mi CC series.
As per the reports, the 150-megapixel camera sensor from Samsung has completed the R&D phase. It has a footprint of around 1-inch and makes use of the same Nonacell technology that the company used for the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s ISOCELL Bright HM1 sensor.
Because of the Nonacell technology, the upcoming sensor could combine nine pixels into one to achieve higher light absorption and thus, the the final shots should technically have a pixel count of around 16MP.
Other reports have claimed that OPPO and Vivo will also launch smartphones with a 150MP camera but they will get launched in the first quarter of next year and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chipset.
The report also claims that Samsung has also started development of 250-megapixel camera sensor. Recently, the company revealed that it is planning to develop a 600-megapixel camera sensor. To put this development into perspective, human eyes can match up to 500-megapixel resolution.
However, Samsung’s ambitions for the future camera sensors is not limited to 600MP resolution. The company is also looking to make sensors that can register smells and tastes. It is also planning to provide camera sensors for other use cases, including autonomous vehicles, drones, and other IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
MIUI 12 and Mi 10 Youth Edition will be officially announced on April 27 in China. The company has been teasing the features of both since it revealed the launch date earlier this week. Now, out of the blue, Zhang Guoquan, the director of smartphone software development at Xiaomi confirms the rollout of the update will begin on the day of the announcement itself.
Usually, Xiaomi releases a newer version of MIUI in the second half of the year. But this year, the company is set to reveal it in the second quarter itself, probably to celebrate the firm’s 10th-year anniversary.
If that is not enough, the Chinese tech giant may roll out the MIUI 12 update on April 27 itself, the day when it will be unveiled. This info comes directly from Zhang Guoquan, who is responsible for Xiaomi’s mobile software development. Unfortunately, he did not reveal which devices will be getting it first.
This information was exposed all of a sudden when a person on Weibo simply asked whether the update will be released on the day of the press conference. Chinese companies like to tease their fans regarding their upcoming products, so it is not uncommon for Xiaomi to break out the news early.
Vivo unveiled the Vivo S6 5G at the end of March in China. The handset was made available in three colors namely Swan Lake, Danube River and Jazz Black. Now, almost a month after its announcement, the device is getting a fourth color option called ‘Streaming Mystery’.
The ‘Streaming Mystery’ variant of the Vivo S6 5G does not bring anything new to the table apart from an impressive paint job. But it is worth noting that this gradient finish looks better than the original options. The new version seems to be a mashup of already available ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘Danube River’.

As the name indicates, the upcoming device is a new variant of the BIP Lite wearable. The teaser poster for the Amazfit BIP Lite 1S reveals that the company is keeping the square-shaped display on the smartwatch and shows that it will be a 2.5D curved screen panel.
It is claimed that the wearable device is made for outdoor sports activities. However, the highlight of the device seems to be the battery life. Thanks to the low power consumption by the display, the upcoming smartwatch will offer 30-day battery life on a single charge.
The device will come equipped with a barometer and compass, and will have IP68 rating which makes it water and dust resistant. It will also have notifications support for QQ, WeChat, and SMS along with ability to unlock Xiaomi smartphones.

In December, it unveiled the Realme Buds Air (Review) truly wireless earbuds along with the Realme X2 smartphone. The upcoming Realme Buds Wireless Pro has appeared in real images at the database of Taiwan’s NCC certification. Last year’s model had the microUSB port present without any cover. As far as the design of the device is confirmed, it is almost identical as the Buds Wireless.
Since the upcoming device carries “Pro” in its moniker, it may come with some enhanced features for better audio output. It is likely to offer users with a better battery performance. Also, the presence of USB-C port suggests that it may support faster charging than the previous model.
In India, the Realme Buds Wireless was introduced with a price tag of 1,799. It comes in Green, Orange and Yellow colors. The Pro model is likely to come with a slightly higher price tag than the Buds Air.
The Realme Buds Wireless produces deep bass output through its 11.2 drivers. It is an IPX4 rated splash-proof product and it comes with support for Bluetooth 5.0. According to the company, once it is charged completely, it can last for up to 12 hours.
Samsung launched its Galaxy S20 Ultra flagship smartphone a couple of months ago and since its official launch, the device has seen a fair share of issues, including display color tint, autofocus, performance, heating, and battery.
However, the South Korean company has now fixed the issue which produced a green color tint on the smartphone’s display through a new software update. Samsung was aware of the issue and was working on a fix since past couple of weeks.
