OPPO Find X2 Pro Full Specifications & Color variants leak ahead of launch

The Find series remains unarguably OPPO‘s best product line till date. The buzz surrounding the series just refused to whittle down despite the hiatus before the Find X was finally launched last year. The Find X2 is about launching alongside the Find X2 Pro on March 6 and the rumour mill has kept buzzing. Ahead of the launch, the full specifications of the OPPO Find X2 Pro have appeared online, giving us a clearer picture of what to expect. The renders of the device also made the rounds online.

Definitely, the pro version will come with a more powerful specs lineup. The leaked poster shows that the Find X2 Pro will feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 3K resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels and 551ppi. The display will also support 120Hz refresh rate, 800 nits high brightness and 1200nit peak HDR brightness. The device packs a hole-punch selfie camera design with a 32MP sensor. The full-screen, notch-less design gives the Find X2 Pro a 93% screen-to-body ratio which is pretty impressive.

In addition, the device has a dimension of 165.2 x 74.4 x 8.8 mm. The weight varies between 200g and 208g for the two colour variants. In case you don’t know, the Find X2 Pro will come in a Vegan Orange Leather variant which weighs 208g and a Ceramic Black variant weighing in at 200g.

The Find X2 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor which brings support for Dual-Mode 5G connectivity, WiFi 6 and NFC. The phone will have up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. OPPO Find X2 Pro

At the rear, the flagship smartphone will have a Quad camera setup comprised of a 48MP Sony IMX689 sensor with OIS, a 48MP Ultra-wide angle Sony IMX586 sensor. There is also a 13MP Periscope zoom camera with OIS and 10X hybrid optical zoom. Further, the device gets its interface from the ColorOS 7 based on Android 10. It equally comes with a 4260mAh battery with SuperVOOC 2.0 65W charging that is said to deliver a full charge to a flat battery in just 38 minutes.

UPDATE: OPPO’s VP Brian Shen today revealed some key differences between the Find X2 and Find X2 Pro. The models have different camera sensors. The Find X2 Pro features a better camera sensor while the Find X2 equally has a decent setup but not as powerful as the Pro version. The camera seems to be where the major difference lies. In addition, the Find X2 has a slightly lesser camera bump and is slightly thinner and lighter.

It will not be just a random affordable smartwatch or fitness band: we will see a high-end product with a lot of features you would expect on the best smartwatch of 2020 and more. Thanks to several leaks and official renders, we know a lot about the upcoming Oppo Watch, we already know its design and form factor, as well as several specifications. We collected every info we got in a roundup ahead of the official launch which will be live-streamed tomorrow. Let’s discover together whether or not it is really one of the potential best smartwatches of the year by analyzing its known features.

Oppo Watch Design

OPPO Watch

A lot of people are already calling the Oppo Watch an Apple Watch clone. Not only its name is similar to the Cupertino giant’s smartwatch, but even its design looks like the expensive Apple wearable. But the good thing is that it will be the Apple Watch for Android handsets. Oppo Watch will feature a square display with 3D curved edges. Oppo decided to ditch the twisting digital crown and replaced it with two buttons on the right side of the case. It will come in black and copper cases with blue and gold straps similar to the sport bands of the Apple Watch. According to the VP Brian Shen, the gadget is there to serve the users and not just look good, that is why Oppo opted for a square design instead of a circular display.

Oppo Watch Specs

Below you can find the known specifications of the Oppo Watch, but keep in mind that not everything you will read below is officially confirmed by the company.

  • Square design with blu and gold straps
  • 1.91-inch retina display with a 326 ppi pixel density, 3D curved edges and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut
  • Snapdragon Wear 2500 chipset with Apollo3 ultra low power chip
  • Wear OS (unconfirmed)
  • ECG sensor (just speculations!)
  • eSIM support
  • Calls support
  • 5ATM waterproof

Yes, Oppo’s smartwatch might run Wear OS by Google, just like the Xiaomi Mi Watch. That would be a piece of amazing news since it will guarantee the best integration with the Android operating system. And after Google acquired Fitbit, we expect great news in the wearable sector. It will support eSIM, so that the user will be able to use it independently from its smartphone, even for calls. There might even be an ECG sensor (electrocardiogram) just like the latest Apple smartwatches that read the rate and rhythm of the heart and can spot signs of atrial fibrillation.

Oppo Watch Launch and Expected Pricing

OPPO Watch March 6

Oppo Watch will be officially announced tomorrow at 4:30 am ET (that is equivalent to 10:30 AM CET), alongside the Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro. The event will only be available in streaming due to the Coronavirus outbreak which made the company delay the launch due to MWC 2020 cancellation. You can watch the event at the link below on the official Oppo YouTube channel. The wearable is expected to cost around 2000 Yuan in China, which roughly translates into $288.

Moto G8 arrives with an HD+ punch hole screen, triple rear cameras and a Snapdragon SoC

There is a new Moto G8 phone, no, not the Moto G8 Lite but the Moto G8 itself. Yes, the Moto G8 just got announced, more than four months after its siblings the Moto G8 Play and Moto G8 Plus were announced in Brazil.

Moto G8 featured

The Moto G8 comes with a 6.4-inch punch-hole Max Vision display with an HD+ resolution just like the Play version. The hole is at the top left corner and it houses an 8MP camera.

There is a Snapdragon 665 chipset inside the phone and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone has a hybrid SIM slot, so you can swap the second SIM for a MicroSD card.

There are three rear cameras on the back of the phone. The top sensor is an 8MP ultrawide angle camera with a 118° field of view. It is followed by a 16MP f/1.7 primary camera and a 2MP macro camera. The fourth hole is actually for the laser autofocus module. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.

Moto G8 cameras

Motorola has included a 4000mAh battery which is bigger than that of the Moto G7 (3000mAh) and they claim it should last up to 40 hours with moderate usage and standby time included. However, there is a tradeoff. The phone only supports 10W charging instead of 15W fast charging like its predecessor. You get a USB Type-C port at the bottom while an audio jack sits at the top.

The phone runs Android 10 out of the box with Moto Experiences. The phone has a water-repellent design and comes with a pair of earphones and a protective case.

The Moto G8 is available in Pearl White and Neon Blue. It is priced at R$ 1,299 (~$280) in Brazil on the official website. If you live in the UK, you can pick it up for £180 (~$233) on Amazon.

Huawei Mate Xs sold out in seconds in its first sale!

On February 24, Huawei held an online-only press conference where the star product was the Mate Xs foldable smartphone. The Mate Xs was the successor to the Huawei Mate X which was launched last year as Huawei’s first foldable phone. The device went on its first sale today in China and according to the company, all available units were sold out in seconds. The next flash sale will hold on March 8 and we also expect all units to be exhausted in a short time.Huawei Mate Xs

The Mate Xs is, thus, turning out to be as popular as the Mate X which sold as many units as Huawei could manufacture daily. This is despite the hefty 16,999 yuan (~$2,400) price tag for which the device sells. This is the same price as the Mate X 5G but where the Mate XS 5G excels is the presence of the latest Kirin 990 5G chipset onboard. The foldable smartphone is also said to come with a reinforced hinge as well as an improved cooling mechanism.Huawei Mate Xs

Several polls conducted after the Mate X and Galaxy Fold release showed that most persons prefer the out-folding design of the Mate X. The general consensus among those who were impressed by the design is that the Mate X represents what a truly foldable phone should look like. That is a design which is used unfolded and collapses into two halves when folded and not a dual display-packing design like the Galaxy Fold. But then, the Mate X is more fragile and that should also translate to the Mate Xs. Moreover, most fans seem to have pitched their tent with the Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr 2019 clamshell-like foldable design. The flash sale result proves otherwise about the Mate Xs’ popularity in China.

According to the latest leaked renders and live photos, both the devices will come with a high screen-to-body ratio with negligible bezels, a single punch-hole, and a very narrow chin. The punch-hole displays will be 3D curved, but not extremely like the Mate 30 Pro which does not sport physical keys. Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro will retain a volume rocker and a power key just like most of the flagships. The rear side will be made of glass and it will be completely clean with the exception of the camera module which will include all the camera elements (LED flash too). Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro will come in black and green color variants and there will also be a Lamborghini special edition just like happened with the predecessor Find X.

UPDATE: Oppo Find X2 Pro will come in two color variants: Vegan Orange Leather and Ceramic Black. Leaked renders below.

Unannounced Mi True Wireless Earphones 2S spotted on WPC website

True Wireless earbuds are rapidly turning into a trend these days and it is spreading like wildfire. At the moment, most of the top Chinese brands like XiaomiMeizuHuawei, VivoRazer, and 360 have at least a TWS earbud under their names. While Apple remains the market leader in this segment, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is the second largest in terms of market share. Xiaomi may be planning to introduce a new pair of earbuds which has been spotted on the website of the Wireless Power Consortium. The earbuds is named Mi True Wireless Earphones 2S.

The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2S comes with the model number TWSEJO5WM and the listed is accompanied with an image of the gadget which may as well be a placeholder image. We say so because the earbuds look very much like the Mi Air 2 TWS earphones. The earbud will equally be housed in a charging case that is identical to the Xiaomi Air 2 TWS. However, going by the S suffix, this model may likely be a trimmed down variant. In addition, it is listed to have a maximum charging power of 2.5W.

Apart from these scanty details, nothing else is known about the Mi TWS Earbuds 2S. It is likely that earbuds will be launched in India soon. We’ll be on the lookout for more details as they emerge.

Redmi could announce the first Dimensity 800 phone; possibly the Redmi Note 9 Pro (China version)

Towards the end of December 2020, Mediatek announced the Dimensity 800. More details about the chipset were revealed at CES 2020. The chipset is its third processor with an integrated 5G modem under the Dimensity series. The other two are the Dimensity 1000 and Dimensity 1000L. The Dimensity 1000L is still the only one of the three 5G processors that can be found in a commercially-available phone. No manufacturer has announced a phone powered by the Dimensity 1000 and Dimensity 800 yet but that might change soon, at least with respect to the latter.

MediaTek Dimensity 800

According to Digital Chat Station, Redmi will be the first manufacturer to announce a phone with a Dimensity 800 processor. The leaker revealed the info on Weibo earlier today but failed to mention the name of the phone and when to expect it. Nevertheless, we have a guess of our own.

Redmi Dimensity 800 phone

After looking at Redmi’s lineup, we believe the Dimensity 800-powered phone will appear in a Redmi Note phone, specifically the Redmi Note 9 Pro for China. Hold your horses, we’ll explain.

The Dimensity 800 is a chipset designed for affordable 5G devices. Redmi already has an upper mid-range 5G phone which is the Redmi K30 5G. The Redmi Note series is its mid-range line of smartphones and it makes sense if it will be the one to come with the chipset.

However, since the major markets (read India) where the Redmi Note series are popular are yet to have 5G, Redmi has no choice than to limit the 5G Redmi Note phone, in this case, the Redmi Note 9 Pro with a Dimensity 800 processor to China where 5G networks are available while the global version has a Snapdragon 720G processor. This is not the first time that a Redmi phone will have different specs in different markets, so it should not come as a surprise.

The Dimensity 800 has four Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz too. It is a 7nm chipset and it has a Mali-G77 GPU.

The chipset brings significant upgrades in performance and efficiency when compared to the Helio G90T that powers the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The G90T is a 12nm chipset with two Cortex-A76 cores and eight Cortex-A55 cores. So the Dimensity 800 is definitely an upgrade.

The Redmi Note 9 series launches on March 12 in India but there is no launch date yet for China.

Redmi Note 7 Pro starts receiving Android 10-based MIUI 11 update

Google‘s latest Android 10 market share has been increasing consistently as more new smartphones get launched but curiously, Xiaomi has been rather slow in pushing the update to its phones, even the Android one models. The company recently pushed Android 10 update to the Mi A3 but had to roll back the update after several bugs were discovered on the build.  Now, there are indications that the Redmi Note 7 Pro may soon get Android 10 update.redmi note 7 pro

Xiaomi has reportedly started pushing the new update to Redmi Note 7 Pro units running MIUI 11 beta build in China. But the ROM is available to download as it is already hosted on Xiaomi’s servers. It comes as version 20.3.4 and has a size of 2.1 GB. If you plan to download the new version, here’s a heads up – the beta build will likely contain several bugs. The new version also comes without Google apps.

This may not come as a surprise considering that the Redmi Note 8 Pro recently got updated to Android 10 in China. The gap of one week between the rollout of the beta build and the European version of the Redmi Note 8 Pro may mean that the Note 7 stable version may hit in no distant time.

Apple iPhone 7 now runs Android using checkra1n: Project Sandcastle

Apple is known for providing products with various proprietary features and hardware. The Cupertino based giant secures every minute details on its iPhones as well, be it the iOS software, lightning port or processors. But now, a group of dedicated individuals has broken through Apple’s confining walls to bring Android OS to an iPhone 7.

Project Sandcastle is under which this great endeavor was carried out by a team called Corellium. The team is known for their previous work which involved bringing Android OS on the original iPhone. So, a recurring philosophy can be observed here, but now Android 10 is available on Apple’s iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPod Touch.

The project used the checkra1n software intensively to jailbreak the iPhone 7 series to run the Android OS. It doesn’t just stop here as the group of developers are working on including additional iPhone models as well in the list. But for now, only these three devices will be available for Android since these Apple handsets are a couple of years too late to receive an update to fix the vulnerabilities Corellium exploited.

Apple
List of features that run on iPhones and iPods (However, support is currently limited to iPhone 7)

Thus, it leads to the point that technically most recent iPhone models can be hacked, but there is no point in it since “Apple will fix it with an update.” Unfortunately, installing Android on your iPhone 7 series will result in certain major features to not work correctly. These include essential functions like Bluetooth, audio, mobile data networking, and camera.

Furthermore, the GMS (Google Mobile Services) is also unsupported on the iPhone 7 series. Meaning, there is no custom recovery to flash it in the smartphone either. In a list of demerits, it seems that the update isn’t stable either since you will lose all data and the Android OS itself when rebooting the device, bringing you back to iOS which lacks the storage taken up by the Android installation.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus
Apple iPhone 7 Plus

Unfortunately, the process is still in beta and it is advised not to be used on hardware that one is currently using. So it is recommended to steer clear and wait for a proper workaround for the issues, if any, in the near future. To download and install the Android build on the iPhone 7, Click Here.
Note: One will require checkra1n installed on your iPhone alongside a Mac or Linux PC for further installation.

Xiaomi Mi 10 RAM, storage and color editions appear ahead of March launch in India

In February, Xiaomi had launched the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro smartphones in China. The Snapdragon 865 powered 5G-ready flagship phones are packed with topnotch displays, amazing cameras, big batteries with superfast wired and wireless charging capabilities. At the end of last month, 91mobiles had revealed that Xiaomi may launch the Xiaomi Mi 10 series will be unveiled in India in mid-March. While there is no official confirmation yet from Xiaomi India on the arrival of Mi 10 lineup, the same publication has teamed up with reputed tipster Ishan Agarwal key details of the Xiaomi Mi 10 for India.

The tipster has claimed that the Xiaomi Mi 10 will be coming with at least 8 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB. The handset is expected to arrive in at least Coral Green and Twilight Grey colors.

The Mi series flagship phones that have launched in the past were met with lackluster response. It appears that the company is planning to bring back the Mi flagship devices once again in the country. While the new leak talks about the Mi 10 storage, RAM and color editions, there is no new information on the Mi 10 Pro.

Xiaomi Mi 10 5G_Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G
Xiaomi Mi 10 5G and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G

Donovan Sung who is Xiaomi Global’s spokesperson and Director of Product Management yesterday shared a tweet that seems to hint the arrival of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro in India. The image that can be seen in the tweet is just a wallpaper that showcases the internals of Mi 10 Pro. An interesting thing to notice in the image is the logo of India’s BIS certification and the 4,400mAh text which is the minimum rated capacity of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G’s 4,500mAh battery. The BIS certification seems to be a hint that the Mi 10 Pro could be heading to India.

At present, Xiaomi India is focused on launching the Redmi Note 9 series in India which is scheduled to debut on March 12. If the Mi 10 series is slated for India launch this month, the company may probably release an official confirmation on it after unveiling the Redmi Note 9 series.

Vivo S6 Launch revealed, will be announced by March end

A new report has just revealed that a 5G Vivo smartphone will launch later on this month. By March end, the Vivo S series latest entry, the Vivo S6, is expected to be announced.

According to a Weibo post by China News Network’s official account, a timeline had been revealed of all the upcoming launches of 5G smartphones from various OEMs. On the Chinese microblogging website, the news reporting agency shared an image that revealed the current month end launch of Vivo S6. If the news is true, then Vivo is shifting another series into 5G networking.

Vivo S6

2020 was the year where 5G was supposed to start seeing more widespread adoption in the smartphone industry, and the upcoming launches only cement that statement. Back in 2019, 5G handsets were mostly confined to premium flagships, making them too expensive for most people. Although now 5G enabed devices have dropped in prices, the Vivo S6’s pricing could also be noticeably higher than its previous iteration, Vivo S5.

The Vivo S5’s pricing started from 2,698 Yuan (roughly 389 USD) back in 2019, so it is very likely that the S6 will cross the 3,000 Yuan mark (roughly 433 USD). The S series from Vivo is known to be targetted towards the younger demographics, with unique designs and cutting edge technology. So, the inclusion of 5G is just the perfect fit in 2020.

Unfortunately, finer details regarding the Vivo S6 is currently unknown. We will have to wait for other leaks or an official announcement/teaser from the Chinese company. So stay tuned for more reports with additional information which should arrive in the next couple of days.

Oppo Find X2 live Images leaked, Pricing of the Lamborghini Special Edition revealed

The Oppo Find X2 launch event is almost upon us. Tomorrow, the popular flagship series will finally be officially unveiled to the world. The device is highly anticipated but just prior to its launch, live images of the device have been leaked alongside pricing details regarding the Find X2 Lamborghini special edition.

As seen in the images, the Oppo Find X2 resembles a lot of the images and renders that have been rumored for the last couple of weeks. It has a high screen to body ratio with negligible bezels, notch and chin on the front. The 3D curved display can also be observed, which is expected to be a 6.7 inch panel with a high refresh rate of 120Hz and HDR10 support. It has also been reported that it will support 240Hz sampling and offer a maximum brightness of 1200 nits with a 100% DCI-P3

The Oppo Find X2 unit seen in the images reveals a black color model a triple camera solution on the rear. Similarly, another leak surfaced on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website, detailed the pricing details of the Find X2’s Lamborghini special edition. Notably, the original Find X had also launched a special variant from the popular car brand but the main aspect of the leak is definitely the pricing.

While the original Find X Lamborghini Edition was priced at 9,999 Yuan (roughly 1442 USD), the Oppo Find X2 Lamborghini Edition is claimed to be priced at 19,999 Yuan (roughly 2,884 USD). This marks a massive jump in pricing, doubling over the previous iteration. It also makes the smartphone the most expensive smartphone from Oppo, even more expensive than Huawei’s Mate Xs. The leak also revealed certain specs of the pricy model, with the Find X2 special edition featuring 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

Huawei, the Chinese tech giant, is renowned for its wide variety of consumer grade products ranging from smartphones to even home appliances. But another field where the company excels is the telecommunications/router market; as a report from Omdia (formerly IHS Markit, known analytics and research institute) has revealed that its routers are leading the global carrier market for 2019.

According to the Omdia report, Huawei has maintained its dominance in the router market since 2018. This marks the second year in a row that the company achieved the top spot. Similarly, in the backbone router market, Huawei has maintained the top position for three consecutive years as well. Furthermore, 2019 also marked the first time Huawei routers took to top seat in the metro router market, making Huawei the No 1 in the global carrier market in the world.

Huawei

For those unaware, Huawei is a pioneering figure in the telecommunications industry. It is a leader in 5G networking and its supplementing equipment and technologies, and the continued investments in the field have been the key factor leading to this achievement. Other notable phrases used to describe the company’s success included its innovative products, next generation protocols and solutions and more. The dominance in the router field has also been accredited to various growths in the 5G networking and cloud computing fields.

In other words, the company has launched cutting edge routers that have yet to see a viable rival competing against it. This series of routers are capable of handling ten fold increases in traffic while also maintaining affordable per bit costs for large scale businesses.

Huawei

The company originally started developing routers back in 1995, and the 25 years’ worth of investment in R&D is clearly paying off now. As of right now, Huawei routers are spread across 130 different nations, providing intelligent IP networks and other solutions to various markets.
