Reports emanating from the UK indicates that Britain’s security chiefs may have given PM Boris Johnson the green light to allow Chinese tech giant Huawei to provide Britain’s 5G networks, despite fears that the Chinese government can use Huawei’s technology to spy on other countries.

British tabloid Daily Mail quotes an unnamed senior security source to have disclosed that ‘the balance between national security and the economic benefit to the UK is something we are confident we can manage’.
This is coming ahead of the convening of UK’s National Security Council by the Prime Minister in the third week of January to make a decision on whether Huawei can be trusted to provide elements of the vital upgrade. Earlier talks had ended with a recommendation that Huawei is excluded from ‘core’ aspects of the British network. However, the firm has been given the nod to supply ‘non-core’ elements such as antennae for high-speed mobile internet. This decision may have been reached following the realization that blocking Huawei’s access to the UK’s 5G network risks leaving Britain behind in the 5G race in the technological dark age.
However, the UK government risks getting into a diplomatic row with the US which has taken a harder line on Huawei and has even advised allies against using Huawei’s 5G technology.
Samsung recently started selling its first foldable smartphone named Samsung Galaxy Fold and now reports about a new foldable phone from the South Korean giant is surfacing online. As per a new report, the company is getting ready to launch a new foldable smartphone with a clamshell design.
But what’s more interesting about this upcoming foldable smartphone is the launch date. The report claims that the phone will be launched in February before the launch of the company’s flagship Galaxy S11 series.
According to the reports, the company is currently in talks with three of the leading mobile carries in its home country to launch its second-generation of foldable smartphones and is aiming for the February launch for the same.
It is expected that the company could share more details about the said smartphone as well as information about the global available during its Unpacked event that will be hosted in the United States in mid-February for the launch of Galaxy S11 lineup.
While not much is known about the upcoming clamshell foldable smartphone from the company, the device is expected to boast a 6.7-inch display and will become nearly square-shaped when folded.
As for the pricing, compared with the Galaxy Fold, which came with a price tag of around $2,000, this new foldable version from Samsung will be available in the mid-$1,000 range, claims the report based on unnamed sources.
It seems that Samsung is rushing to launch its new foldable smartphone as its competitor Huawei is gearing up to launch two new foldable phones early next year and Motorola is also set to start selling its Motorola Razr foldable smartphone. Other major smartphone brand are also working on similar designs and could launch their own foldable devices in the year 2020 but its not yet confirmed officially.

Now, the company has confirmed that the 5G model of the Redmi K30 smartphone will be available for purchase in the Chinese market from 7th January. Under the hood, the device is powered by the new 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset and comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and inbuilt storage of up to 256GB UFS 2.1. There’s also a microSD card slot on the device for expanding the storage capacity.

The company claims that the Redmi K30 5G has the same camera algorithms that is available on the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro that features 108-megapixel penta-lens camera setup. On the front, the Redmi K30 5G features an AI powered dual camera setup that includes a 20-megapixel main lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
It is the company’s first phone to arrive with Android 10 OS which is overlaid with the latest MIUI 11 user interface. The Mi Turbo 2.0 optimised the system performance whereas Game Turbo 2.0 enhances the device for gaming. It is powered by a 4,500mAh battery and carries support for 30W fast charging technology.
Xiaomi, the Chinese company known for making value-for-money smartphones, recently launched a smartwatch under its own brand. Now, the company has announced yet another smartwatch named Xiaomi Watch Color.
As the name itself suggests, this new smartwatch has support for colorful straps, which the company claims is suitable for all the occasions and genders. The company further adds that it comes with support for different types of color combinations.
While the company has announced this Xiaomi Watch Color, it has not yet revealed details related to its specifications, variants, and pricing. However, Xiaomi has confirmed that the smartwatch will be available for purchase in China from 3rd January.
If the rumors are to be believed, then this upcoming smart wearable product from the Chinese company is expected to be have similar set of features and specifications as the Huami Amazfit GTR.
It could come with a 1.39-inch circular display with 454 x 454 pixels screen resolution and packed with various sensors including heart rate sensor, accelerometer, barometer along with features such as 5ATM waterproof among others. We expect to know more about this wearable device in the coming days.
A few months ago, in September, we reported about Xiaomi working on a new smartwatch named Xiaomi Watch Color based on the trademark application filed by the Chinese company, along with the trademark for the MIX Alpha.
The announcement of this Xiaomi Watch Color comes just weeks after the company launched the Mi Watch Forbidden City Edition on its crowdfunding platform for a price of 1,299 yuan (~$186) against its regular price of 1,699 yuan (~$243). In terms of design, the watch is very similar to the Mobvoi Ticwatch C2.
Meanwhile, there are also reports claiming that the company is getting ready to launch a new Xiaomi Watch Pro which will come with a circular dial, unlike the standard Xiaomi Watch which has design similar to the Apple Watch.
Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are the next flagship phones from Xiaomi. The Chinese manufacturer is expected to unleash it in February. The Snapdragon 865 mobile platform will be driving both smartphones. Very few details of the Mi 10 series have appeared so far. A reliable tipster from China has shared some information on the battery capacity of the Xiaomi Mi 10.
According to the leakster, the standard edition of Xiaomi Mi 10 series will be equipped with a 4,800 – 4,500mAh battery. The tipster has also said that the battery size of the Mi 10 may differ by 100 mAh from the actual capacity.
The leak indicates that the Xiaomi Mi 10 will come with a significantly large-sized battery as the predecessor Xiaomi Mi 9 had featured a 3,300mAh battery. It is believed that the 5G-ready Xiaomi M2001J2E/C phone that was 3C authority of China in November is the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10. The 3C certification had suggested that the phone may ship with a charger that supports 30W fast charging. The battery size of Xiaomi Mi 10 Prov is not known yet. However, the phone is rumored to have a model number M2001J1E/C and it may carry support for 66W fast charging.
Through another Weibo post, the tipster has claimed that the phones in the Mi 10 series will differ in screen size, cameras, battery size, fast charging capabilities and memory specifications. The rumor mill is yet to spill information on the specifications of the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. The Mi 10 series is expected to come preloaded with MIUI 11 based Android 10 OS. Some reports have claimed that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro may feature a 108-megapixel main lens on its rear.
It remains to be seen whether the company announces Xiaomi Mi 10 SE as the successor for the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE smartphone that was made official along with Xiaomi Mi 9 earlier this year. The Black Shark 2 gaming phone had gone official around a month after the time Xiaomi Mi 9 series was announced. Hence, there is a possibility that the Black Shark 3 gaming smartphone may go official soon after the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series.
Since the Redmi Note 8 series made its debut in the Indian market in mid-October, the models have been available to buy via flash sale only. However, that is now over as Xiaomi has disclosed that the Redmi Note 8 series made up of the Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi 8 are all now available to buy on open sales. The three models are readily available to buy in India from Flipkart, Amazon India or Mi.com as well as on some offline stores.
The Redmi Note 8 series comes with several outstanding features that made them hot-selling models. The Redmi Note 8 Pro emerged as one of the first phones on the market with a 64 MP camera and an Helio G90T chipset. It equally features a massive 4,500 mAh battery and a microSD slot, which is exclusive for India. Xiaomi also included an 18W charger in the box for the quick-charging capabilities of the phone. The price of the phone starts from INR14,999 ($210) for the 6GB+64GB variant.
The Redmi Note 8 also supports 18W fast-charging but has a basic 10W power block in its retail box. It comes with Snapdragon 665 chipset, up to 6 GB RAM, and 128 GB storage and costs INR9,999 ($140) for the basic 4/64 GB option.
O the other hand, the budget Redmi 8 brings affordability to the mix with a starting price tag of INR7,999 ($110). The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 439 chipset and Xiaomi slapped a dual-camera setup on the back as well as a fingerprint scanner. Just like its bigger siblings, the Redmi 8 also supports fast-charging at 18W for the 5,000 mAh power cell.

The Vivo S1 Pro teaser confirms that that it features a diamond-patterned camera module on its rear. The AI driven quad rear cameras of the smartphone has a 48-megapixel main lens. The phone is also fitted with a 32-megapixel selfie camera. As it is already known, the Vivo S1 Pro is not an entirely new smartphone since the company has already unveiled it in some Southeast Asian markets.
The Vivo S1 Pro has a S-AMOLED display with waterdrop notch. It measures 6.38 inches and offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Vivo S1 Pro Price in India (Rumored)
The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB variant of the Vivo S1 Pro could be hitting the Indian markets with a price tag of Rs. 19,990 (~$280). There is no word on the pricing of the 6 GB RAM edition of the Vivo S1 Pro. In Philippines, the S1 Pro comes in colors like Fancy Sky and Knight Black. However, teasers on Vivo India’s Twitter suggest that the phone will come in Fancy Sky and Blue color options in the country.
Xiaomi holds a Guinness World Record for the most stores opened simultaneously with its feat of opening over 500 Mi Stores in India in November last year. The tech giant has now recorded another milestone even though it won’t upset the Guinness World Record. The company has reportedly opened more than 100 offline Mi stores in China.
The opening of more retail stores is said to be part of Lu Weibing’s measures for offline channel reform since he took over as president of Xiaomi China on November 29. After proposing a dual-engine strategy and clear target plan, Xiaomi began focusing on the expansion of new retail channels and more on the cultivation of core customers. From the list of 100 stores opened this time, more than 80% are owned by third-party vendors.
As at today, the number of Xiaomi offline terminals has exceeded 6000 stores. As a reminder, Xiaomi opened its first Mi Store in China on September 12, 2015.
Wireless earbuds have become more popular since more manufacturers have removed the earphone jack from their phones. Unlike wireless headphones (read earphones), wireless earbuds do not have a cord connecting the two parts together making them true wireless.
However, since there is no cord connecting the earbuds, it makes it easier to lose an earbud. If it happens that an earbud falls out of your ear, there is no cord holding it across your shoulder like in the case of wired earphones.
For today’s poll, we want to know if you have ever lost an earbud. Also, use the comment box to tell us how it happened and if you bought a new pair or you switched to a “wired” wireless type.
A few days ago, Oppo announced the Reno3 series with a base variant which can almost be considered as a flagship killer. As we showed you, it was even able to beat the Reno3 Pro on the first benchmarks. That is why we decided to compare it with the most attractive flagship killers actually in the market. Among the global ones, we got the Realme X2 Pro and the OnePlus 7T, both flagships available at modest prices. Is it better to go for a flagship killer offering the max performance or for a complete device with no extreme performance like the Oppo Reno3? If you want to know, go ahead with this specs comparison.

Design
We doubt you are a real design fanatic if you are checking this comparison, but if you are, then you may be interested in knowing that Oppo Reno3 has more attractive aesthetics. Despite having a bigger battery than OnePlus 7T, it has a slimmer body. Further, it is a more compact design and it has a cleaner rear side thanks to a smaller camera module. I even prefer its gradient color variants to both Realme X2 Pro and OnePlus 7T.
Display
With each of these devices, you get a high-end AMOLED display with a classic waterdrop notch. But Realme X2 Pro and OnePlus 7T offer something more: the HDR10+ certification, full DCI P3 coverage and even a 90 Hz refresh rate providing smoother user experience. Between the Realme X2 Pro and the OnePlus 7T, there are very marginal differences, so we will not pick a winner. Both are amazing displays in terms of image reproduction. In each case, you get a Full HD+ resolution. OnePlus 7T and Realme X2 Pro provide Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, while Oppo Reno3 does not.
Hardware/Software
While Oppo Reno3 is the world’s first smartphone to be fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L chipset, Realme X2 Pro and OnePlus 7T are equipped with a Snapdragon 855+ SoC. MediaTek Dimensity 1000L is supposed to be a flagship processor, but there is no way it can compete with the amazing Snapdragon 855+ chipset found on the Realme X2 Pro and the OnePlus 7T. These two devices even offer a fast UFS 3.0 internal storage and up to 12 GB of RAM (the 6/64 GB variant of the Realme X2 Pro has UFS 2.1 storage). But Oppo Reno3 is still an amazing performance phone and, unlike its rivals, it supports 5G connectivity through an integrated 5G modem, while OnePlus 7T and Realme X2 Pro are 4G-only. OnePlus 7T and Oppo Reno3 run Android 10 out of the box, while Realme X2 Pro is still based on Android Pie.
Camera
We know that Oppo Reno3 and OnePlus 7T offer something more when it comes to camera quality. Unfortunately, we still had no chance to test the Oppo Reno3 thoroughly since it was announced just three days ago, but we know for sure it will be superior to the Realme X2 Pro, just like the OnePlus 7T.
Battery
With battery capacities of 4025 mAh and 4000 mAh respectively, Oppo Reno3 and Realme X2 Pro offer a longer battery life than OnePlus 7T. We did not test the battery life of the Oppo Reno3, so we still can not tell which will last more on a single charge. But we can tell you Realme X2 Pro charges a lot faster thanks to its 50W fast charging technology allowing the phone to reach 100 percent of battery life in just 35 minutes.
Price
Oppo Reno3 launched in the Chinese market with a €440/$492 starting price for the 8/128 GB configuration, Realme X2 Pro 6/64 GB costs €399/$445, and OnePlus 7T is currently available for about €450/$503 in its 8/128 GB version, thanks to online street prices. There is not a clear winner here. If you want 5G your only choice is Oppo Reno3, which also provides a slimmer and more compact design. OnePlus 7T and Realme X2 Pro have better performance and displays and the latter offers them at a more affordable price, while the former has more convincing cameras. Which one would you pick?
Cellular calls have become the thing of the past in today’s fast-paced internet world. VoLTE and VoIP call through the internet offer much better quality and other additional features that are not possible through normal cellular networks. The internet also permits video calling with screen sharing and various other functionalities depending on the service. That being said, there are a vast number of services and apps for VoIP calls. Hence, to help you decide, we have compiled a list of best VoIP calling apps.
The below-listed app for VoIP calls have been existing for a long time and most of us might have used it at least once or maybe even use them on a daily basis. These apps not only allow you to make calls but also allow you to text and video call. Lastly, not all of them are free as some of them need a subscription to use additional features.
Best Apps for VoIP Calling
Skype
Skype is one of the oldest players in the VoIP services since its existence from 2003. It has been associated with video calls for a very long time, even before the rise of smartphones. It offers various functionalities such as chat, voice calls, video calls, SMS, and even calls to landline phones which requires a subscription. All-around, Skype is the best option if you looking to use VoIP calls. Android users can also opt for a lite version of the app if their phones could not run the app efficiently.
Viber is yet another VoIP app that is newer than Skype but can still easily compete with it. It is available for various other platforms and offers features such as chat, video calling, public group chats, and even calls to landline phones via subscription. In other words, Viber is a replacement for Skype since both of them have identical functionalities.
If you are a Facebook user, you will be definitely using Messenger since it is the only way to communicate with your friends. Since it is used by most people, there’s nothing we could say that you are not aware of. Apart from chatting, calls, and video calls, Messenger also has games that you can play to compete with your friends. In case your Android smartphone could not handle the standard app, you can opt for Facebook Messenger Lite from the Play Store.
Google Duo is the newest app in our list of best apps for VoIP calling. Although it is new, the app has generated a huge number of the user base in a short period of time since it comes pre-installed on most Android smartphones as part of Google apps suite. It offers high-quality audio and video call support even on a slower internet connection. Unlike other apps in the list, it does not offer chat or any other additional features but it does the job as intended
Signal Private Messenger is all about privacy. If that is your first priority, Signal is a must-have app for chat and voice calls. There is nothing else to say about Signal since it is all about privacy, encryption, and security. The app features a minimal design similar to its features and is completely free to use.
The last app on our list is quite strange since this one is solely recommended for gamers. There is not a single app out there which is as efficient as Discord. Gamers prefer Discord voice calling over in-game audio which itself says the quality of the service the app offers to its users. It offers only voice calls and chats with additional in-app purchases for customization.
OnePlus may have retired from making cheap flagship killers in 2019, but a lot of other brands have risen up to the occasion to take its place. The flagship killer segment, also known as the affordable flagship segment, got pretty crowded this year.
In 2019, you are spoiled by the amazing choices available under Rs. 40,000 in India or €600 in Europe. Brands like Xiaomi (Redmi), Realme, Asus, and OnePlus have extremely value for money smartphones that’s almost as good as the devices that cost up to Rs. 60,000 or €900. Personally, we found it very hard to narrow down 5-6 smartphones that stood out from the rest but after hours of discussions and elimination rounds, we have managed to pick 5 top affordable flagships for 2019.
So here are our picks for the Best Flagship Killers of 2019.
The Redmi K20 Pro is one of the best flagship killers of 2019. While it wasn’t meant to be the successor to the POCO F1 for 2019, the phone offered exceptional features and premium design at an affordable price tag, much like the former series. It features the high-end Snapdragon 855 processor with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and a beautiful 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display. Recently Redmi also announced the Redmi K20 Pro Premium edition with the new Snapdragon 855+ processor in China.
The Redmi K20 Pro came with a capable camera setup, a 48MP primary shooter paired with an 8MP telephoto lens and a 13MP wide-angle lens. Moreover, there’s a 20MP pop-up shooter onboard that ensures good quality selfies and a full-screen experience. Under display fingerprint and a 4000mAh battery with 27W completes the setup. Plus, the phone is already running Android 10!
Clearly, the Redmi K20 Pro is one of the best affordable flagship smartphones in the market today! Even with the K30 5G being announced, the K20 Pro would make for an excellent purchase right now.
Realme’s new X2 series exists to take on Redmi’s K20 lineup. And so it’s no surprise that there’s an equivalent Realme model for the K20 Pro in this list. In fact, the X2 Pro is better than the Redmi model in several aspects. For example, the Realme X2 Pro comes with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz screen refresh rate. It also has a faster Snapdragon 855+ processor and up to 12GB of RAM onboard. The camera setup is more feature-rich featuring a 64MP primary shooter with a 13MP telephoto lens, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 2MP bokeh lens. Plus, there’s a 4000mAh battery with a super-fast 50W fast charging, making for an excellent overall package!
OnePlus smartphones are super fast and refined. The same applies to the OnePlus 7T. The phone offers a refined experience with Snapdragon 855+, UFS 3.0 256GB storage, 8GB RAM, and a 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display. Note that the Realme X2 Pro and Redmi K20 Pro feature the slightly slower UFS 2.1 storage. OnePlus cameras have come a long way since its inception and the 48MP + 13MP (telephoto) + 16MP (wide-angle) cameras are capable enough to come close to the premium camera experience.
The 7T was one of the first smartphones to get Android 10 update and with OxygenOS on board, you are bound to like almost everything about the device. The round camera housing might stand out a bit more than you would have imagined, but trust me, it grows on you in time. For a starting price of Rs. 34,999 (8GB + 128GB) in India and €559 in Europe for the same variant, the OnePlus 7T is one phone you can buy with your eyes closed.
Nobody would have ever thought that one of the fanciest and the craziest smartphone of 2019, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 would be a flagship killer. But when we saw the pricing for its 8GB + 128GB variant in India, we were shocked! It was clear at launch that this variant will take on the OnePlus 7T in India.
The ASUS ROG Phone 2 comes with insane hardware targeted at gamers featuring Snapdragon 855+, 8GB RAM, a humongous 6000mAh battery with 30W fast charging and 10W reverse charging, a solid 120Hz refresh rate with 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a dual-camera setup that consists of a 48MP primary shooter and a 13MP wide-angle shooter.
You also get an in-screen fingerprint sensor, a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack, an extra USB-C port on the side for accessories (so 2 ports in total) and special Air Trigger ultrasonic shoulder triggers to use during gameplay. The only real issue with the ROG Phone 2 is its size and weight, but if you can look past that, it is the ultimate gaming phone to buy in 2019.
If we had to pick one underrated smartphone in this list, it would be none other than the Zenfone 6 or Zenfone 6Z (India). The phone offers incredible value for money but didn’t get the attention it deserved. One of its biggest highlights is the motorized flip camera featuring a dual-camera setup of a 48MP primary sensor and a 13MP wide-angle sensor. Because the rear camera is also the front camera, the Zenfone 6 is one of the best selfie shooters of 2019!
Other features include Snapdragon 855, up to 8GB of RAM, a large 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and 10W reverse charging, stereo speakers, a dedicated MicroSD slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s the only phone in this list to come with an IPS LCD screen and a physical fingerprint sensor at the back, but with HDR10 support, you will get rich colors and won’t really miss an AMOLED panel. And guess what, Zenfone 6 is already running stable Android 10!
A few weeks ago, Huami announced that it will be attending CES 2020 in January where it will announce a new product. It later revealed that the product it will launch at the event will be its first TWS earbuds. However, that will not be the only new product launching at the event. The official Amazfit Twitter account revealed a few days ago that the manufacturer will also announce a new watch called the Amazit Bip S.
The Amazfit Bip was originally released in 2018, and Huami followed it up with the Bip Lite this year which is practically the same watch but without GPS. When it launched the Amazfit GTS back in August, we felt it was the true successor to the Bip with its sharper display and new activity-tracking features.
More powerful with an ultra-long #battery life. The #Amazfit BipS is worth the wait!
Huami says the Amazfit Bip S is more powerful with ultra-long battery life. The renewed version of the watch will also be ultra-lightweight.
The teasers shared by the manufacturer show the design has been unchanged. It has a square dial with curved corners and there is a round button on the right side. It should use the same 22mm straps as the original Bip but may come in new colorways. We hope Huami also includes some new activity-tracking features not available on the original such as elliptical training.
A message from our CEO: “your guesses are on the right track! #Amazfit is going to expand its portfolio beyond the #smartwatch category. The first Amazfit TWS headset is coming soon and there's more. ”#LeapOverLimitspic.twitter.com/sQFLeiuDjn
Amazfit has also given us an early look at the wireless earbuds. In the image above, we can see the earbuds will come in black with a glossy finish and will have replaceable silicone tips. The earbuds have a small form factor and should not protrude too much out of your ears.
Other than the TWS earbuds and the Amazfit Bip S, we also expect the manufacturer to announce the GTR Lite at the event.
Xiaomi presently holds a couple of Guinness World Record titles like Xiaomi’s Play record for the world’s largest mobile-based dynamic puzzle, It also set a record when it opened 500 Mi stores simultaneously in India. Xiaomi India’s giant light mosiac Mi logo also clinched a Guinness World Record title for it’s size. That isn’t stopping the Chinese tech giant from chasing some publicity stunt. The latest clout chasing effort saw the company clinched the Guinness World Record for a bizzare reason. Turns out Xiaomi held a blind box product unboxing event in the US recently which saw 703 persons unbox several Mi products at the same time.
Before Xiaomi’s record-setting exploit, the previous record of the most people unboxing simultaneously is 643, and was achieved by Mercado Libre (Mexico) at Parque Bicentenario, in Mexico City, Mexico, on 28 September 2019. Participants unboxed a commercially available commemorative pin and after the record attempt enjoyed a concert.
Xiaomi’s Guinness world record event dubbed Mi-stery Box was held at the World Trade Center in New York on December 21. The event happened to be the largest outdoor event held at the centre since it was rebuilt. As the name implies, the boxes were packed with several Xiaomi products which were not labelled in order to bring some element of surprise to the mix. The products include Mi Wireless chargers and others but excludes smartphones.
We can’t say for sure the reason for the event apart from publicity. Xiaomi already has some limited presence in the US with several retail stores in the world’s largest market. Products such as Mi Electric Scooters, Mi Laser Projector, power banks are sold but the Chinese company is yet to officially launch its smartphones in the US. The delay may be unconnected to Huawei’s unsavoury experience when it attempted such move a few years back.
Realme started off as a subsidiary of OPPO but is now a stand-alone company. However, the company still uses some of OPPO’s technologies such as ColorOS 7 and VOOC fast charge technology even though it is trying to distance itself from OPPO. The manufacturer is getting a custom version of ColorOS 7 for its phones, and now it has filed trademark applications for its fast-charging technology.
It has been reported that Realme has filed trademark applications for the words “DART” and “SUPERDART”. The logos for the two trademarks shows that they are related to fast charging.
Some say it is just a rebrand of OPPO’s VOOC and SUPERVOOC fast-charge technologies while others say it may be for Realme’s own proprietary fast-charge technologies. Nevertheless, we expect the trademarks will begin to appear on future products including chargers and power banks.
The Realme X2 Pro is currently Realme’s phone with the fastest fast charging technology. It supports SUPERVOOC (version 1) which has a 50W power rating and charges the phone from empty to full in 35 minutes.
If you are one of those who find Facebook Messenger’s “Chat Heads” feature annoying, then you’ll find this news uninteresting. Google is planning to bring a new feature to Android 10 known as “Bubbles” which would make it easier for app developers to push more visible notifications directly on top of the user’s display. The thing is, the feature is similar to the chat heads that can be found on Facebook Messenger.
The feature is said to have been rolled out on Android 10 Beta 2 for the Pixel devices earlier in April this year. Unfortunately, the feature didn’t make it to the stable version of Android 10. But the folks at XDA Developers were able to manually enable the Android Message Bubbles and they did post some screenshots of the features in action.
The feature brings up a floating notification bubble for ongoing conversations. The bubble notification system is expected to completely replace the overlay API in a future release of Android. As of now, the Bubbles API is in development and Android 10 users can manually enable it from within the Developer Options (Settings > Developer Options > Bubbles).
However, there isn’t any noticeable difference between this feature and Facebook’s Chat Heads which many persons probably had to disable on their phones. You can drag and place the floating bubble to other parts of the screen, or you can drag it to the bottom to dismiss it just like Facebook’s. Thankfully, the Bubbles system also comes with an option to disable it.
Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company Ninebot recently unveiled its first electric motorcycles in China including a Segway X concept power bike. The commercial models that were launched included the C-series and E-series models and the company disclosed that they will be unveiled for the global market at CES 2019. Segway-Ninebot has now released an invitation poster to its stand at the trade show. The event will hold from January 7-10, 2020. The invite also contains details of the company’s booth at CES.
The poster also gives us a hint of the products that will on exhibition and they include the new Ninebot E-series e-bikes, the Segway, as well as the GoKart kit. Others include the self-balancing scooter and several others.
Xiaomi has a substantial stake in Ninebot and was instrumental in aiding Ninebot to acquire American self-balancing scooter manufacturer, Segway back in April 2015. The brand’s products have been available for purchase outside Chia via third-party retailers but with an unveiling at CES, Ninebot may be looking to head into the global market with its products.
We’ll bring you the report of the event and other CES 2020 news when they unfold.

Design
All of these phones are very stylish and futuristic. They all feature an amazing punch-hole display with very narrow bezels around it. If I had to choose, I would personally go for the Oppo Reno3 Pro. It has a very clean design thanks to a very small punch hole, an in-display fingerprint reader and all the camera elements included in the rear camera module. Further, it comes in very attractive color variants and it is even one of the thinnest handsets out there to feature a battery with a capacity above 4000 mAh (just 7.7 mm thin). Last but not least it is lighter, it only weighs 171 grams.
Display
Besides more attractive design, Oppo Reno3 Pro also provides a better display. It has a lower 90 Hz refresh rate than Redmi K30 5G (the K30 has a 120 Hz refresh rate), but it has a better color reproduction and an AMOLED panel, unlike the latest Xiaomi’s 5G mid-ranger. You even get a higher brightness, stereo speakers and an HDR10+ compliant display. Redmi K30 5G has a smoother 120 Hz display but it is an LCD panel, so you may remain a bit disappointed with the overall quality. But it is still a great panel since it supports HDR.
Hardware/Software
You should not underestimate the new Exynos 980 chipset which debuted on board of the Vivo X30, also known as the first SoC with an integrated 5G modem. According to benchmarks, it is definitely better than the Snapdragon 765G found on the Redmi K30 5G and the Oppo Reno3 Pro, despite the Snapdragon 765G is considered a better choice for a lot of people. Further, Oppo Reno3 Pro is the only coming with up to 12 GB of RAM, so it delivers definitely better performance overall. Oppo Reno3 Pro and Redmi K30 5G have Android 10 out of the box, while Vivo X30 is still based on Android 9 Pie.
Camera
Oppo Reno3 Pro and Vivo X30 have the most convincing cameras and, unlike the Redmi K30 5G, they are high-end camera phones. Unfortunately, we still did not test them thoroughly, so we still can not give you our definitive opinion about their camera performance. Vivo X30 looks definitely impressive with its 32 MP telephoto lens and its 64 MP main sensor with OIS, while Oppo Reno3 Pro has a more common camera department but it offers an additional monochromatic sensor and a brighter focal aperture (as well as an amazing optical stabilization).
Battery
Due to its bigger 4500 mAh battery, Redmi K30 5G should last more on a single charge. But this does not mean you do not get an amazing battery life with Oppo Reno3 Pro and Vivo X30. The Vivo X30 should have a longer battery life than Oppo Reno3 Pro thanks to a bigger 4350 mAh.
Price
Vivo X30’s price starts from €420 in India (still not sold in China), Redmi K30 5G starts from just €255 in China, and Oppo Reno3 Pro starts from $572 in China. None of these devices is sold globally at the moment. While Redmi K30 5G offers the highest value for money, Oppo Reno3 Pro has a better design and display and it is more or less at the same level as the Vivo X30 (which should offer slightly higher performance and longer battery life).
